    Burress never lost his legacy. Giants fans and I for the most part still respect the dude. He made a big mistake; a self inflicted wound! He didn't harm anybody. Love the guy with all my heart as if I knew him personally. Made my childhood watching the Giants great.

    NYC has draconian gun laws. They are typically enforced broadly. In most other states in America at that time, what he did would be a misdemeanor. Most likely it wouldn't have been charged at all and if it was, he would only pay a fine at WORST. Nowadays, several states don't even require a license to carry a firearm.

    Ask any Giants fan, if Plaxico finished the season in 2008, we would've won the Super Bowl. Before he shot himself, we were the best team in the league, we were 11-1 and couldn't he stopped. Once he was gone, there was no real threat to double cover and defenses could load up to stop the run. I feel for Plax and I know that most Giants fans still love him. Unfortunately when you think Plax you think two things; the game winner in 42 and what could of been for his career.

    • @bentetzlaff1431
      @bentetzlaff1431 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was just thinking that. The 08 team was the best of the Coughlin era and we likely would have repeated! We beat all four teams in the NFC and AFC championships that year (Steelers, Ravens, Cardinals, Eagles once).

    • @bentetzlaff1431
      @bentetzlaff1431 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      QuaytGang Well Jacobs and Ward that year were unbelievable. Eli didnt even have to do much most of the time. This team beat the SB champ Steelers 21-14. It beat the AFC Championship bound Ravens 30-10. The Cardinals 37-29. And the Eagles once. But the run game struggled like Gmenallday said once Burress left because there was no deep threat to worry about and they xould focus on the run game. They started 11-1 abd finished 12-4. Ut would be like this years team losing Beckham (Vikings game)

    • @bentetzlaff1431
      @bentetzlaff1431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +QuaytGang True but I don't know if Randle or Cruz will return. Randle is disappointing with his route running (and a free agent)and Cruz will have not seen the field in 23 months if he returns in September. That was a problem this year (among the 412 defense problems) lack of a number 2 receiver.

    • @bentetzlaff1431
      @bentetzlaff1431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +QuaytGang Cruz became ehat we know him as in 2011 but true. But the strength and conditioning staff has me mad. Cruz injured his calf doing what? Plus bad luck can't be the only explanation for leading the league in IR for three years.

    • @Xxdalerockxx
      @Xxdalerockxx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That really sucks. But next season we have to work with what we got. We need Cruz to come back. We better fix our defense. But now we don't even have Tom Coughlin.

    That sentence was ridiculous. Should he have had an unregistered gun, nope. But 2 years for accidentally shooting yourself is just crazy to me. If your opinion differs then just do it silently, we will agree to disagree no need to rant on my opinion. I just happen to not see everything as black and white and think circumstances should be taken into consideration when punishing people within the laws. If you are a literalist then we clearly won't see this the same.

      +Jay Racer I'm with you for the most part. There should be reasonable limitations on the second amendment but I think we also need to take circumstances into account when charging and convicting people of crimes in America.

      "reasonable" determined by who? The trustworthy republicrats? Regardless of your willingness to leave your rights in the hands of self-serving politicians, Plaxico's glock was registered in Virginia. Sean Taylor just got murdered and Steve Smith (the Giants Steve Smith) just got held up by knife-point. Yeah that was a witch-hunt by Bloomberg.

      Alycia Cooper He and some other giants players were stood up at a nightclub that night. In an effort to pull out his weapon to defend himself, he accidentally pulled the trigger. Keep in mind this was around the time Sean Taylor was murdered, so many NFL players were concerned for their own public safety.

    A young man made a mistake. It's what young people do. But the ramifications are always so much deeper when it's a Black male. A caucasian athlete WOULD NOT have gotten as much time as Mr. Burress did.

    • @paulczar

      I'm white as they come and completely agree. And it pisses me off too. Think pretty boy American hero Tom Brady or say Peyton Manning doing 2 years of hard fucking time? 23 hr lockdowns and shit? This isn't Martha Stewart type prison. They threw the fucking book at him hard as fuck. Seems wayyy to harsh of a punishment. Yes, he could have killed someone. Of course. But he didn't. We don't doll out punishment based on the worst hypothetical outcome of a crime. I can't think of any other examples where we do. Should have got 3-6 months if anything. I think he should have just been fined and maybe ordered to do community service and probation if anything at all.

      It doesn't matter where you are...the same thing happens everywhere...high profile idiots who F' UP are made examples of...The fact that other "thugs and criminals" who engage in similar or worse behavior and don't receive equal punishment is another issue entirely!!! He certainly deserved to be punished and IMHO far worse than the slap on the wrist that he received. He was barely phased by his slap on the wrist and it didn't do his brain and character a lick of good!!! THAT IS WHAT IS SAD!!! All he thinks about is his lost opportunity to be "GREAT" and make it to Canton with his BFF Manning! You probably feel the same...and that's a shame that his problems haven't taught you anything either!
