    With the NFL draft underway, we felt it was important to share this episode. We filmed this with Plax as we were just getting started with The Pivot because we felt his story was symbolic of what it means to Pivot.
    Plaxico was the 8th overall Pick in the 2000 NFL draft, was one of the top wide receivers in the league and is a super bowl champion. But one off the field slip up changed his career and the question always lingers “What If”…what if that never happened, what would the legacy be of Plaxico Burress.
    In a candid conversation, Plax opens up to Ryan, Fred and Channing about his journey to the league and the infamous night that changed his life forever.
    Special episodes of the Pivot Podcast release Friday afternoons at 3p eastern.

      @Lamar Stewart I let emotions take over situations. I cut my arm making a bad decision that almost killed me. It was a long road back from it. Also, My advice would be to stay committed to what got you the opportunity to play D1. Plaxico said he never went out, and he went against his own judgement. Being 28 means some wisdom is behind that. Be accountable of your actions and carry yourself with integrity. It will take you as far as the work you put in behind the scenes. I really appreciate ya’ll and what you are doing. Especially putting the spotlight on an inspirational brother like Plax. I’m 757 born and raised, I watched Ronald Curry and Mike Vick against my Deep Creek Hornets (who were no joke!) in the late 90’s. This podcast took me back. It really hit me the way he responded to the question of who is the best athlete from 757. He’s right, none of us really thought in those terms, we were all just so PROUD anytime someone from where we were from made it. At one point, literally every other song on “urban radio” was produced by the Neptunes or Timbaland or Teddy Riley or featured Missy Elliott. Plax, you guys made us feel like we were on top of the world, we salute you and appreciate you for your hard work. Everybody makes mistakes, all that matters is how you recover and you did so with the same excellence that you demonstrated your whole career. Keep pushing, I wish you and your all the best. For record, I think ya’ll missed a few 757 legends: Alonzo Mourning, Sweet Pea Whitaker, and Gabby Douglas.

    Damn Plaxico Burress, was one of my favorite receivers when he was with my NY Giants. I'm glad he's doing well after football, I wish him nothing but continued success.
    As a gun owner for nearly 30 years, the first thing I became familiar with was state reciprocity. This dictates what states will accept your concealed license from another state. As a traveling business person I don't leave home without my firearm, kind of like my AMEX card "never leave home without it". However, there are several states that will not honor my Florida Concealed Weapons Permit and those are CA, OR, WA, WI, MN, IL, NY, NJ, MD, CT, and MA. If I want to conceal carry I would have to apply for those licenses independently. He's a gun owner and should've taken that responsibility more seriously. Not sure about other states but in Florida, you are not allowed to carry in a bar and if you go to a restaurant but have to pass thru the bar area to get seated that is also against the law. A piece of advice to any gun owner learn the law and secure the gun ownership book for your state and familiarize yourself with it. I'm on the eight edition of Florida's Firearms Law, Use & Ownership by Jon H. Gutmacher, Esq. which explains all of it and keeps you apprise of state law changes.

    • @godofthisshit
      @godofthisshit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Rogue Wear Don't a lot of states have casual gun laws? So it's kind of out there to think someone who might be from a state like that, to all of a sudden know that other places don't play around. I would think a concealed carry permit holder from NYC is probably more diligent on overall gun laws than someone from state/city where they hand you a gun for visiting Walmart.

    • @roguewear21
      @roguewear21 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@godofthisshit Well technically you're wrong. They just don't "hand you a firearm for visiting Walmart". There is a background check and three day waiting period for firearms in Florida. However, if you possess your concealed carry, then yes, you can purchase a firearm and walkout the same day. This is because your background information is in the FDLE system and the firearm dealer has access to that information. Additionally, I was born in The Bronx, NY and lived there into my mid 20's and secured my NYC firearm license. However, it did not make me more "diligent" on overall firearm laws. It's up to the individual to acquire the knowledge, you are not forced to do so. I also travel around the country on business and continued to educate myself on firearm laws in the state I was visiting to insure I was legal to carry and where. I am a responsible firearm owner and have been for nearly (30) thirty years, I also took the time to educate myself on my rights as firearm licensee. So please, stop watching the talking heads on the news network(s) that spew that garbage.

    In a city that recorded almost 50k violent crimes that year we had one-man dead set on setting an example by going for 3 years then settling on 2 just to pad his resume so he could run on a ticket that reads I’m tough on Gun Control. Plaxico getting shot derailed a NY Giants team that was dominant and could of repeated in 2008, they ended up 12-4, 1st seed in playoffs, out 1st round at home to Eagles... Had Eli Manning had Plaxico that run, they would of beaten the Eagles, and hosted the NFC Title game vs Cardinals in NY, and Anquon Boldin who was hurt and contributed with Fitzgerald to their Super Bowl run would have missed that game due to injury. At the least the 2008 Giants, would of been in the Super Bowl vs Big Ben and the Steelers with a chance to repeat. With 3 or more Super Bowl Appearances, no one would be questioning Eli Manning on HOF ballot.
