Plaxico got an extremely raw deal by New York City. I’ve watched him many times not only in interviews but random conversations and I believe he's a class act. Many younger NFL players could learn a lot by watching him.
The lesson here: a decision you make in ONE second can affect your life for 50 years. Plaxico actually could have gotten unluckier, and winded up shooting himself fatally, shooting someone else fatally, etc. I never understood that growing up.
My distaste for Mayor Bloomberg is exacerbated every time I think of the injustice done to Plaxico Buress just to make a political example of him for Bloomey’s extremism regarding firearms. I have to control myself before I start typing obscenities.
Its sad that more people don't frame the punishments handed out to individuals as a consequence of political actions. Sure, Plaxico made a terrible decision. That's simply a fact. Handguns aren't toys, and must be treated with a level of respect that reflects the lethal capacity of such a weapon. The man did owe a debt to society for his carelessness and a disregard for potential externalities. But a punishment must fit the crime. The gun was carries unlawfully, but Plaxico had registered the handgun in Florida and had a LTC there as well. He never registered it in NY but, at least in my opinion, that doesnt imply a criminal intent. He fired the gun accidently (in his pocket) so he clearly never brandished the gun. In a just system he would have gotten 6 months absolutely max. The political factor was disgusting - as you mentioned. This entire incident should be a referendum on the dangers of governmental overreach into the justice system, not on Burress. Realistically, his lesson was learned the moment that bullet hit his thigh. Too bad none of that matters to an overzealous prosecution. Sorry for the essay. I completely agree with you.
aside from grossly misusing the phrase "out of body experience", he actually sounds rather intelligent, and you can see he and Vick really learned a lot.
I never saw this guy in my life. heard his name.. but man, what a nice guy this guy is.. UNREAL.. i felt his pain. He must've really suffered in that prison. His life was ruined for 1 stupid thing.
Appreciate you Plax what you gave to my Giants team and still till this day I regret you getting locked up!! Bloomberg looked the other way for many but not for you 🤦♂️😡😡
Irony is when he went to the Dunkin Donuts, he probably walked into a life-sized cutout of Eli Manning holding a coffee. He was one of the main spokespeople for Dunkin at the time.
NYC was wrong ! Very Wrong for jailing this young man. he did no harm to anyone! He was and is NOT a criminal. Even a SuperBowl Hero cannot get a Black man off...Sad.
Ya know people can call him a criminal and all this but Plax is honestly a very good dude. He's a humble soft spoken guy who made a mistake but he's honestly a wonderful person.
I met Plaxico way back when he was in college while I was on a high school recruiting trip. There was this stream of players and personal parading by as we were sitting talking to some recruiters before the green and white game. The line of players began to thin out. Then suddenly we were the only people in the back of the stadium. Some ten minutes later, here comes this tall ass dude dragging his feet, taking his sweet time. He stopped and talked to us. He had an even thicker kuntry drawl. He had no sense of urgency :)
Wow, touching story. All young men need to hear it and understand how fragile life is. You could be on top of the world one day and then the next....at the bottom looking up. Thank God he had to give only 2 years and was redeemed. The Bible clearly says, "the enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." Be careful out there young men, be careful.
He has two valuable years taken away from him, for accidentally shooting hisself in the leg. To add insult to this injury, he serves the entire two years in a protective confinement unit.
He got 2 years for having a loaded firé arm in a club....just by having an unregistered gun on u is 3 years with half time if it's not loaded....he's lucky he didnt get a decade per bullet.....
Damn sucks he had to be in solitary confinement. He would of been a beast on any flag football team in any prison. Lol im 6' tall they threw me 5 passes one game i had 5 td's. Imagine plax?
TristanDeCunha in New York there’s no death penalty to keep the population calm they have treats a lot of other states don’t have to keep niggas from bugging out when they get a grip of reality
What if it was an innocent bystander, he was carrying a gun to which he had no business doing, nor do we have his entire record available. His past may have played a part in his sentence. Someone please publish it before you assume he got screwed.
You bring along a gun to a night club with intent, then you belong in prison. Professional athletes have no exception and should get no special treatment at all.
One thing about becoming a popular ball star is knowing that you are going to make some real money. The realness about it though is that it can be taken away from you just like that when YAH (God) is not in your life. Do Not ever sign a contract stay as a free agent. Serve YAH!
Worst day unless u had a ruff bid is first days upstate or being shackled and seated in same spot on a bus driving to ur prison for 10 plus hours was my worst day. What sucks about day one upstate is u get ur state cloths and sent to an isolated orientation dorm where u do blood work for a week before u go to general population. Unless u know or see someone u know day one who can pass ur dorm porter some deodorant in the yard for u (cause he the only one in orientation dorm than can go to the yard ). Grown man with no deodorant is not a good look. Lol he was in solitary confinement (the box) because of his star power so doubt he was worried about his smell.
Space Alien changing your name can hurt your parents feelings, so maybe he didn't change it because of that, it's still no reason to make fun of someone it's a lame ass insult
Watching this video feels like an out of body experience
Plax seems like a really good dude, nice interview.
yeah, real good dude ...until he pops a cap yo ass!
cciemail *pops a cap in his own ass
they need to lock up criminals...not guys like Plaxico. He's an NFL player for God's sake...not some drug dealing criminal! Geez.
Yeh he’s good but sometimes shoots himself in the foot
@@Essays4College 100,000% agree

My wife and I ran into him at a restaurant in Virginia Beach. He was really cool and nice to us.
Facts
💯
He shot a gun in a nightclub, uncontrolled. U can't do that. He could've killed somebody
@@Lance-Stroll It was an accident, a mistake, he shot himself, not anyone else. You must hate him a lot.
He did 2 years for accidentally shooting himself in the leg? wtf?
Isn't that snitching 😂
In DC aumotamic 5 years for any gun
NYC gun laws
He did 2 years because people talk too much. Who would be the witness if him and the people he was with stfu.
some crazy new york laws. but hes gotta be smarter than that. he didnt know about nyc gun laws? or couldn’t hire a bodyguard

Reading these comments is giving me a real out of body experience.
They should've called this interview "The Outer Body Experience". He said it about 30 damn times...
He was a good sport. Best of wishes to you Plax.

Nah you trippin 😂
this is a very sad interview
The way he speaks not the actual sound of his voice but his pronucinations sounds like Charles Barkley.

Um the man accidentally shot himself in the leg and this dumb ass justice system gave him 2 years for it. He was screwed over by the justice system
