*The "Jedi Temple Guard" with their yellow double-bladed lightsabers only existed in the Filoni Clone Wars show - about 5 years or so AFTER **_Revenge Of The Sith_** was released.*
*Those guards didn't exist during the time of filming - so if Cin Drallig's scenes were 100% restored in the movie, there still wouldn't be any "Jedi Temple Guards" and we wouldn't see Anakin fighting any.*

We never really had a moment in the prequels where Anakin got to be more powerful than his peers. All Star Wars media since then has bent over backwards to show why Anakin was so special and Vader was so feared, but in the movies we only saw him strike down unarmed opponents. Making short work of a room full of armed Jedi, including a hypercompetent duelist, would have not only been shocking but established Vader as a threat.

Might have detracted from the Obi-Wan duel. Not really that interesting watching Jedi you don't know or have attachment to get killed. If you want to talk about "filmmaking" then just chopping through fodder isn't what film is about. Could have also been about age rating because they were probably on the limit with choking Padme and Vader burning.

    • @Salsmachev
      @Salsmachev 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +28

The version we have is the director's cut. Aside from some basic constraints of time and budget, Lucas made the movie he wanted to make and released it in the form he wanted it to be in.
While I wouldn't object to getting extended editions, because I think they'd be fun, I think it's worth remembering that the stuff that was cut was cut for good reasons. A fun exciting duel would completely destroy the mood of the Jedi Temple destruction scene.

@@SonTaicario You could certainly do brief shots in montage showing Cin Darlig getting killed, sort of like the brief scene we get of Ki Adi Mundi trying to fight off the clones, but an actual extended fight scene would necessarily end up being too high-energy and exciting.
I love the battle of the heroes fight. I think they did a great job of making it raw, emotional, and tense. It's not just a lightsaber duel. But at the end of the day I also watch it and say "woo lightsaber go brrr". That's the last thing you want people thinking when Anakin is betraying and massacring the Jedi.
Look at what happened recently with the ATLA live action series. The Air Nomad genocide, which was super impactful in the cartoon, despite not being shown, was reduced to nothing more than a flashy action scene in the adaptation. Anytime you have people saying "wow that genocide scene was cool!" you've fucked up.

It has everything to do with his actual grievance, so how exactly are his grievances not being met with reasonable answers? Or can you come up with a better set of reasons to rectify the issue beside the two reasons that were already given as answers?
You can't interject and creep into someone's offer when they give two good answers and not have anything better to offer as answers to his grievances. Otherwise you are saying nothing at all. We don't hear you. We don't know what you're trying to say. What do you mean by what you say? The facts are that there are real chronological differences within the Star Wars universe that do in fact affect the perception we have of Star Wars and therefore have a greater affect down the line of the product we get from books to prequels, new spinoffs and new series. So how are two different eras taking place in two totally different time periods not significant? can you answer that for us? Can you come up with a better answer than what was given that can help it along? Even if its speculative, you can at least entertain the idea instead of not offering anything constructive with your own critique and ideas. What would you have done differently if you were directing the movies but had limits to the screen time and a limited budget? There is also the fact that both film series have different directors with different ideas, and different ideologies between Star Wars the Acolyte and Star Wars I, II, and III. How does this answer not address the issue? Or what makes the answer not capable of reasonably addressing his concerns? I don't mean to bust your marbles here but come on, toss some tinder into the bonfire instead of complaining and whining about what goes in I'm sure you got something to say!

Thank you for editing his saber to be yellow. Idk why George Lucas would deny Nick Gillard that, but grant Samuel L Jackson's request for a purple one. It wasn't like he was just some random actor playing a random jedi. Nick Gillard was the choreographer for all the Prequels' fights and played the Jedi Battlemaster. Homie got snubbed, and they thought giving the Temple Guard yellow sabers would fix it. It just made us want him to have a yellow lightsaber even more since he leads the guard.

That certainly explains why Cin and his Padawans are such a big deal in both the PS2/Xbox game and the GBA/DS game. The handheld one just has one of the Padawans be a generic green-saber dude who actually escapes, but the console game made a whole character called Serra Keto who has double greens. She doesn't make it out of that one, though. BUT you can use both her and Cin in the Versus mode when you beat them for some revenge! Or even sic her on grown up Darth Vader while you're at it.

The fact that the actual revenge of the sith is given about 10 minutes of screen time in the movie named The Revenge Of The Sith is insane. Anakin kills younglings, cuts off Dooku’s hands and then beheads him, slaughters political leaders and then gets burned alive all on screen but this is too dark?

  • @brianhanes5413

Deleted duel wasn't going to be like the game which wasn't canon even back then. It would have been Anakin vs Cin and his two students indoors.
He butchers one immediately then manhandles the other shortly after. Cin holds his own briefly before being cut down. The youngling deaths is a reason it's probably coined as being too dark.

ROTS was amazing as is, but it would’ve been much better if it were a two part movie. Out of everything that I know of that got cut, the most unfortunate part is what is mentioned in this video. In the Final Cut, we see next to nothing that took place in the Jedi Temple. Nick Gillard (or Cin Drallig) deserved some screen time, considering how he practically single handily made the lightsaber duels so cool.
My mom actually talked to Nic Gillard once, helping him get credit for something she read about. I don’t remember many details, but someone mentioned something that Nick created without crediting him, which is a big no-no.
As this video shows, many great things were sadly removed from the Final Cut, leaving us fans with many unanswered questions. I heard that the original script for ROTS was about 4 and a 1/2 hours long, but they cut this literally in half.

“Based on behind-the-scenes materials, his lightsaber blade was originally to be rotoscoped in yellow. However, George Lucas would only allow either blue or green as the color of any regular Jedi's lightsaber blade, with the exception of Samuel L. Jackson's violet lightsaber blade he used as Mace Windu. Lucas would go no further with other colors, so Gillard chose green. However, a promotional image (appearing on Cin Drallig's Legends page) shows him with a blue lightsaber.”

They didn't cut it because it was dark. They cut it because "it just looks good" is not a valid reason to include a scene like that. Think about it: this would be the first time Cin Drallig appeared, so we would have no knowledge of his character and thus there would be no stakes to the fight. It would only serve to say "look what Anakin can do!" and that was already done. It was a pointless scene.
