Aiofe, Is that because you like stupid lyrics that probably would make no sense, even if you could understand them, or because you do not like any melody?
If local rock radio is to remain relevant, this is how to do it. Excellent and well informed host, great talent, quality multi-media production, and getting it to the fans.
So true. All the techno sounding vibes are kool and interesting and very orig/creative but I gotta say. You take all of that away and you can really see a great voice/guitar player at work underneath it all.
@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 There's a saying somewhere that the best way to judge a song is how well it translates into an acoustic song. I think all of Annie's songs work really well acoustically.
Don’t you think that creative people are very interesting? They are fun to listen to and their perspective on life is so out of this world. Opposite of boring.
Like the unpredictability of her music you never know how she will answer a question- always surprising. I watched a lot of these in studio concerts and I’ve never seen Cheryl so effusive! I’d say she was quite the fan girl here
She is amazing. Rare when you find a artist that can play very well, sing very well, play and sing complicated stuff at the same time, and also come up with creative songs.
im an old punkrocker,, and i see how this is a very honest girl with her art music, choreography, and fashion....im new to her, i just heard this, and the npr tiny desk, and have gone backwards the last couple days...but im completely smitten. I hear of course the obv bowie/t-rex/PJ harvey/Kills?even dick dale in her work, but also PHRANC from LA, X from LA, peaches, iggy, gitane demone.... and many others. i appreciate her integrity, and her near genius music and art and coreography and fashion...of course not unlike bowie or nico and the velvets. AND all of this through the filter of her family....Aunt and Uncle in the NW..... GO ANNIE! this is YOUR time....I love how you take the early punk asthetic, and use the big machine for your advantage opening eyes, ears, and hearts through honesty....very commendable! and this nobody is loving it! GO GO GO annie! this is YOUR TIME...and by the way those signature guitars look SO fantastic....one of the best ive seen maybe EVER? you are a special artist Annie
Cheryl is so genuinely into music she's the perfect host for the bigger acts on KEXP live, she's warm and totally un-showbizzy. the artists respond to that. St. Vincent was a bit testy and Cheryl had to work it but so what, SV's a talent and gets a pass. Really great performance especially the last two tracks.
As much as I appreciate Miss Clark for her songwriting and guitar genus, it's just awesome to see her rock barre chords and her amazing voice. So simple, yet powerful!
The negative comments about Annie Clark's attitude are incomprehensible. She is friendly, verbal, polite and informative. What more can you ask? It seems she triggers some kind of defensive insecurity in some people but I just can't see it.
I have this album and I love it. The sign of a great performer is being able to do it with the minimum of backup. Annie does it to perfection. Despite her guitar going out of tune this version of New York is my favourite. Thanks to KEXP.
Talented woman. I don't always like the visuals of her presentation, nor do I like all her songs, but I can't deny she teems with creativity and musicality. There's weirdly just this touch of insecurity too, like she's doing what she loves, but she just doesn't entirely believe in it, which is a strange contrast given her range of talent.
I've just discovered St. Vincent. I absolutely love this stripped down version of her music. Such an incredible voice and songwriting.. Great interview! Cheryl you are very intuitive and perfect for this. Thank you ☺️
I can't get enough of Cheryl aha you rock ! And thank you St. Vincent for existing, Slow Disco is definitely a part of my life and the feelings are real
In love with this format, really brings out her vocal strenght and sensibility for new arrangements... I Love the piano album too but this is pure gold 😍
I surprisingly have never watched this channel or heard this artist but I loveedddd it. The hosttttt is soooo sweet💘 and I love St.Vincent’s voice and her guitar playing skills, she’s got so much talent !!!
I find it interesting how the haters come out of the woodwork with no consequences to their words. They are not famous, they do not have Grammy Awards sitting in their home’s. They have not designed a new guitar that is selling like no other guitar in Ernie Ball history. They have not produced five LPs or gone on multimillion dollar tours. But hey, they are expert haters. Why are people getting so ugly these days?
Sherri Sides because they need a vent for their own crappy lives and their lack of self confidence? Also being an a**hole anonymously on the net is easy because there are no consequences for your words. Most of those cowards would never say anything similar face to face. It’s annoying. If you don’t like something, just ignore it.
because we live in a culture that thrives on narcissism and violence, thought policing and false egotism not to mention self esteem lessons given essentially by a playbook of Jesuitical teachings
As some one who used to be one of these hater types. I'll admit. My dad beat me. I was very shy. I had a view that the world was 100% shit and that I should only look out for myself. I was scared and lashed out from time to time to trick myself into thinking I was a big tough manly man or something. I wasn't as bad as some people but it was a thing. I think we all have acted this way kind of at one point. We all start as stupid kids to a degree... And it's easy to judge others rather than work on something of your own. Pointing fingers is always easier than building a fuckin castle lol. I've grown up a lot since then. I try really hard to not be that guy anymore. And whenever I do, which is rare, I end up stopping myself and apologizing for getting forgetful and carried away. I'm not perfect but I'm trying... So yeah... Just because I had it kind of rough when I was younger doesn't mean I have the right to give others a hard time and make them feel bad. I've been doing much better ever since. The only time I really get hateful is when I'm standing up to the alt right or something but that's not so much hate as it is me trying to help them come to the side of love. Annie does the same : ) She once tweeted out "down with fascism". She's super kool. And I own a high end music man cutlass. She's right. These are some seriously kick ass guitars lol. Seen many guitar snobs shit on her skill and then say sexist things. 1... She's like in the top 100 best female guitar players of all time so just shut the fuck up lol. She's clearly better than most guitar players out there so why isn't that enough for you assholes? 2... Even if she wasn't super good at guitar who cares? Neither was cobain, Lennon, and Marley but they created some of the most wonderful music ever. No one is perfect but sometimes you stumble onto the most memorable tunes. Take moonlight sonata for example. Not the hardest song ever by any means. It's slow and not too complex. Over 200 years now and people STILL listen to it like crazy lol. It's not about how fast your fingers can move and how quick your brain can process the motions. It's about creativity! Steve vai is a amazing guitarist but I can't remember the names of any of his songs or albums. Same with Dave Mathews, Dave Navarro, John Mayer, Malmsteem, and Van Halen. Why? They are nowhere nearly as creative and memorable as those not so guitar skilled artists I just mentioned. Even Hendrix didn't have the greatest singing voice but man he could play and his song writing was amazing. It's rare when you have someone like John frusciante or jeff buckely or st vincent where they are all good at guitar, sing amazingly, and write memorable songs.
Clearly, I have just watched an entirely different performance and discussion between Cheryl and Saint. Vincent. She was absolutely, 100% honest, candid, warm, eloquent, way. I have no idea how you came to any conclusion that she was in any way "testy". To have such a misread of people must make life incredibly challenging for you @strictlynorton . She was delightful, as was Cheryl, as always! Keep on keeping on!
Fully agree! Never been the greatest fan, I mean, their whole discography is so wide and different that you can find amazing songs and some not that great. But in here we can see she's a hell of an artist!
14:14 - ".. the verses are for you, the chorus is for everybody else.." Wow, that's some solid advice!
@Cristian Barraza Your'e welcome! (Better late than never...)
Well done ✅❤
And i mean it 2
st vincent should write the next james bond theme tune
That is a brilliant idea. She could also play the villain's evil muse.
Check out st vincent - bang bang, it's very bond-esque
Billie beat her to it lmaoo
Jace Naeem no shit dumbfuck

My jaw just dropped and Im not sure Ill be able to pick it up ever again.
Ping!!!!!
Pick ⛏️ it up and LIVE A LITTLE ❤
The stripped acoustic versions really highlight the beautiful melodies and her great voice.

too precious for this world
Don’t you think that creative people are very interesting? They are fun to listen to and their perspective on life is so out of this world. Opposite of boring.
Congratulations to the host. So nice and pleasant, intelligent and respectful questions, you can tell she loves music.
This is what talent sounds like.
TimStreeperMusic absolutely

TimStreeperMusic you gtta be kidding me
Her band reminds me of Frank Zappa and the mothers of inventions and she hits high notes like Joni Mitchell.
Jesus what a massive talent, accoustically get such a prince vibe but wholly original. St Vincent has the funk.
Nice pfp! Jupiter is really cool :D
She is the Best❤

Agree, Cheryl is great!
Well said!
i love cheryl, she's so warm and is always excited to hear the music
what does testy mean?
Conor Morgan a little guarded and maybe a little combatative. There i cleared it up for you.
Cheryl is digging the hell out of getting a full blast solo version of "Cruel" played right into her face. Amazing!
slow disco performance was incredible oh my god
so true.
I didn't know how it would hold up without the synths but it was just as powerful. really highlighted how amazing her voice is
A true artist writing great songs. Cruel played acoustically like that is amazing.
Damn !!! so cute ♥
Los Ageless 2:37
New York 6:47
Slow Disco 20:46
Cruel 23:52

Jessica Martínez You know what else is cute!??? Your time stamps!!
Three cheers for Jessica...from moi The Leona ☆👊(|ő_ő|)♡
This woman is a genius. Minds like hers are special.
Beautiful! the closing song ¨Cruel¨ was just amazing!
As much as I appreciate Miss Clark for her songwriting and guitar genus, it's just awesome to see her rock barre chords and her amazing voice. So simple, yet powerful!
It's amazing how much song she brings across with just those two instruments. She is a Queen
She's so damn pretty and she's so damn talented.
She's just off the charts in everything! Wow!
Both brilliant women.
She's the greatest rock star from the 10's.
Annie Clark and the band St. Vincent are just incredible.
I love Cheryl's voice...and the sincerity it reflects is the perfect mix w/St.V
I feel like when Annie talks, exactly what she wants to say is right on the the tip of the tongue.
air signs
Los Ageless acoustic is always so dope
way to blow my heart up with that rendition of new york . . .

I think I could watch and listen to Annie Clark perform Cruel every day for the rest of my life and still be moved every time.

nice observation!
sufjan stevens was like this before c&l.. it takes a while for some artists to find their place i guess
They are both so good at conversation. I can listen to them talk all day! Awesome stuff
I've just discovered St. Vincent.
I absolutely love this stripped down version of her music.
Such an incredible voice and songwriting..
Great interview! Cheryl you are very intuitive and perfect for this. Thank you ☺️
She has such a high self confidence. She always seem to keep the perfect balance between being egoist and being modest.
She is our queen.
This made me want to binge on the album again.
I can't get enough of Cheryl aha you rock ! And thank you St. Vincent for existing, Slow Disco is definitely a part of my life and the feelings are real
i love Cheryl Waters
St. Vincent is always stunning, the performance always has the cool vibe. Fantastic!
Los Ageless 2:36

Cruel 23:54
In love with this format, really brings out her vocal strenght and sensibility for new arrangements... I Love the piano album too but this is pure gold 😍
Nice engineering on this. Just the right amount of reverb on her vocal to keep it real, and a good mix on the guitar inputs.
This acoustic performance blows me away...
love this album. my heart is always broke.
I surprisingly have never watched this channel or heard this artist but I loveedddd it. The hosttttt is soooo sweet💘 and I love St.Vincent’s voice and her guitar playing skills, she’s got so much talent !!!
Bianca Floyd welcome to the wonderful world of st Vincent!

Yeah that's two NOTE 🎶
That was so much of a good thing. Los Ageless just tips me over, and pours me out every time, especially now. Raw talent. Truly, truly.

Would love it if she put out an entirely acoustic album.
Fun fact - I saw an add for her guitar on TH-cam, forgot the name but its a new guitar designed to look old with some rough edges.
Annie C.'s NPR "Tiny Desk" solo acoustic gig, Jan. '18 -- super genki!
th-cam.com/video/BfYJt1O8ZjY/w-d-xo.html
i like these acoustic performances much more, they really highlight her talent.
Great artist. Respect Annie.
That new york version. Damn
Definitely... we are lucky to be blessed with her talent and gift for music.
Hats off to the sound engineer...at last you can actually hear the sounds we didn't hear before.
She has an astonishingly beautiful voice - and in my opinion one of the most unique and talented singer-songwriters of the last decade
Cheryl is seriously the ideal host, I second the other comments on this.
cheryl waters is the best interviewer
Such a wonderful talent.
Damn!!! Love these sessions 😍 St. Vicent is legend for me 👏👏
kexp....always......always.... the best!!!!!!
I will😂
Happy 😁 happy 😁 happy 😁
I,m listening 😢
Ahhhh ha ha 😜
I feel like it’s her act to be very cold/disconnected in her music videos so this version of Cruel is so refreshingly passionate
That Waterloo guitar sounds so amazing. I wish I bought one when I had the chance.
Excellent stuff ⚡😛🌬️💨🆒
She always kills it.
Annie is already an icon and a legend. Best of the best.
Anything with St Vincent, is a St. Valentine's presnt for music lovers
You can tell CLASS/ pointing out about the DRUMMER!!! YOUR FKIN SWEET 🧁
As you know what I noticed that awhile ago ❤
Anne is super talented and an intelligent interview
She And Her Band ARE AAAMMMAAAZZZIIINNNNGGG

Honestly i understand its not always AS GOOD AS YOU EXPECT!! BUT YOUR OK YES TWO ST, VINCENT
And again morning 🌄 from 🏴
What a massive talent - watched her at Glastonbury 2022 and she was brilliant. She's a different level acoustically though, reminds me of Joni.
Goddamn that Cruel barebone acoustic version is giving me chills whole body. Wow Annie is so great.
Legend...
beautiful performance, enjoying every second of it
These acoustic versions, her voice and the lights behind. Everything seems like a dream. ❤👌😍🎸
WE LOVE YOU CHERYL!
Phenomenal ✨
Very nice 😂❤
