    I just got my very first truck, a 2020 F150 with the 5.0L Coyote, traded in my 2018 Focus for it. I am no gear head and have never had much interest in cars or trucks because I never thought I'd be able to afford a cool one. I was very hesitant on getting this truck. it was expensive, but in my price range. Still, why spend extra money? What caught my interest is when they said it had a V8. Even a noob like me wouldn't want a big ass truck with a little V6 in it and I thought that was all I could afford. So, I test drove it.... Holy shit!
    It is something else driving a big powerful truck around, especially compared to all the cheap cars I've owned in the past. I had to get used to the throttle! Now I am in love with trucks and all I have been doing is watching videos like this lately. Thank you so much for the info and making me feel better about my purchase!

      🫡 ford nailed it when they took out the gen3 with 10 speed transmission that can hold 700hp stock and the engine as well 🤙🏻. I have a fully build 2022 mustang gt tune by Lund racing I’m be trading it for a 2023 regular short bed f150 4x2 5.0 taking 4 to 6 months to build.

    after driving 3/4 ton Ram Cummins diesels for 19 years I traded for an 2015 F150 5.0. I bought the truck for this specific engine. Simple, not stressed, no complex turbos, no cylinder de-activation, no direct injection, an engine with 400,000 miles potential life in it. After 3 years of driving, I'm happy with my choice. And of course nothing sounds like a V8. :)

    2013 5.0 XLT Supercab 185k miles, just returned from 3500 mile road trip, got 19 mpg average. Still kicks like a Mule! They did Ford history proud with the Coyote name (AJ Foyte) and continued pushing forward with the new modular designs potential.

    Actually the F150 didn’t get the 5.0 until 2011. The 09-10 still had the three valve 5.4 triton. I’m on F150 number 6, and I keep going back to the 5.0 and from this point on I’ll only own a V8 truck as long as I can. I had two ecoboost trucks and they were great, but I just love hearing the sound of the Coyote.

    5.0 is a legendary rock-solid V8 with crazy potential tucked away, that arguably gives you the best power for its size off the lot, and it loves higher rpms, where it really screams all day long.

    • @jimsteinway695
      @jimsteinway695 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 5.0 doesn’t have as much potential as the 3.5 unless you tear it open and do cams and pistons etc. you can get 100 more out of the 3.5 with a simple software tune. You’re right about having it power on top of the power band but that’s for cars going down the track. But for trucks you need power down low. The 3.5 is so good Ford put it in the GT

    • @crewdawg2008
      @crewdawg2008 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dead on the money. The 5.0 has more potential than any other engine Ford offers in the F150. EcoBoosts are already turbocharged, so all that's left is a tune, maybe bigger turbos, and more fuel. Can't really go much further than that. The 5.0 can have boost added plus all that other stuff, and best of all, it's ready for bolt on boost without needing any other reinforcement, which is uncommon among NA engines. If you want to spend some money on an F150 engine to get the most possible power, the 5.0 is the only option.

    Nobody has a crystal ball on any truck. But, the main thing is, if you take care of your truck, the odds are in your favor that it will take care of you regardless of 3.5 or 5.0. This fact is WAY more important than the engine itself imo. My Eco now has 92,000 miles on it, running strong. The main difference to me is the low RPM range on the Eco vs the higher RPM range on the 5.0. I have a 33 foot trailer I tow, my mind likes the fact that the engine doesn't have to revolve as much in the ECO vs the 5.0 when towing up (and down) hills. The Eco just glubs along at 2.5k, nice and easy, that crankshaft never gets too excited. It does sound like my high school honda though.

    Ordered my new truck yesterday. 5.0 all the way even though I have to wait for the configuration I want. Naturally aspirated and dual GDI/Port Injection. That’s huge to me. Why add two turbos and all the complicated tech required to make a mid-size car engine pull a full size truck? Though initial performance is comparable on the 3.5 and the 5.0, reliability, longevity and repairability go to the Coyote, hands down. Of course, if you are the kind of person who likes to get a new truck every few years, this doesn’t matter. But if you like to keep your trucks for the long run and pay attention to use, care and maintenance discipline, Coyote is the only way to go.

    5 liter V8 and very happy with it. My 2019 supercrew with a 6.5 foot bed and 300 lb campershell gets 22.5 on the freeway. My first V8 - the truck is so quiet I can't hear any exhaust sound unless I'm passing someone. I add one quart of oil 2500 miles after an oil change and it's good until the next change at 5000 miles. Tows, launches and goes up the ramp with a 3200 lb boat/trailer effortlessly.

    5.0 baby Don’t get me wrong with 3.5 eco-boost is a beast of a motor and also this new 2.7 eco-boost is also a really good strong motor but I’m just an old school dude that enjoys a V-8, I don’t have to worry about turbos. I don’t have to worry crab gathering on my valves and the leaking oil pan that people are complaining about. I know the 3.5 also had issues with the screen at the end of the tube that feeds the turbo sometimes clogged up and that’s what’s causing turbo to burn out due to the crap in the oil from the turbos. I just wanna be able to change the oil change oil filters and keep going I don’t wanna worry about any of that stuff and a good v8 does that for me

    Just hopped in a 2024 F-150 Lariat with the Coyote. Excited to have this truck for a nice long time. I missed being in an old-fashioned V8 pickup. Used to have an '03 Dodge Ram that I absolutely loved. But this thing is pretty sick, definitely a way nicer truck.
    This is the generation however that has cylinder deactivation so it's pointless as it is and as infrequently as it tends to actually kick in, all I can think is that is a new system on the engine that can have some kind of failure state. The last thing I would want is for something to trip that system up so that I'm stuck on 4 cylinders. But I'm not necessarily too worried about it. Consensus seems to be that with routine maintenance this engine lasts a long time

    Hi! I’m thinking of getting a preowned full-sized pickup truck as daily work truck. I have a commute of 40 mile one-way (1.5 hrs) then another 1hr drive home in horrid SoCal traffic. I haul mostly network cabling installation equipment in the bed, and do not tow.
    What brand, model year, engine and grade do you recommend? I would like to have some of the newer active safety features such as the automatic emergency braking system to avoid front collisions, but not as critical as long-term reliability and durability. Any suggestions for a late model pickup truck with Direct and Port Injection. Also, what immediate and affordable engine and transmission mods for reliability and durability do you recommend to protect the powertrain? I’m not looking for more power, just long-term reliability and durability as I don’t have too much money and need a truck for work and personal use. Thank you!

    The 5.0 coyote doesn't have a flat plane crank like you said 50 seconds into this video nor did the Camaro ever come with a LS2. You showed the 5th gen which came with the LS3, L99 and LS7 in the z28. The GTO had the LS2 in 05/06.

    i have driven the 3.7L which is the non turbo 2016 v6, its pretty much the same motor as the 3.6L with turbos but i think slightly bigger cylinders.... the water pump was $2100 and that wasnt with oem parts. So I would have to say the 5.0L is highly appealing in its simplicity as a V8 and i would choose the 5.0L

    bought a 2021 F150 with the 5.0. the 10 speed transmission is trash. To date, I have 4000 miles on it. (ordered in july 2020 took six months to arrive.) Kendall ford has already reset the trans once and I'm bringing it in tomorrow for loss of power problems as well as hard shifting. They told me there ar no parts to repair or replace the trans. They also quipped: "Yeah, those 10 speeds are a problem" They are selling these trucks knowing the 10 speed is a problem and they can't honor the warranty when it fails. Class action law suits are the only avenues for recourse. Don't buy one. Junk.

    • @cliffordmontana4562
      @cliffordmontana4562 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right, the ten speed in the F150 is trash! I don’t mean to be rude when I say this, but you should’ve just got an F-250. You could’ve gotten the 7.3 Godzilla for THE EXACT SAME PRICE! The 10 speed in the F250 is 1000 times better. Way less herky jerky, and it skips 2nd and 4th gear when accelerating, meaning FAR less shifting. I just had a rental F-150 and the 10 speed was terrible. The ZF 8 speed in the RAM is an awesome, super smooth transmission.
