How cool! Very resourceful and wonderful idea. Anytime my dog gets our leftover veggies or meat I say well that’s a little less dry dog food that we need to buy and less going to the compost.
I used put the bones and veggies left after making broth into my blender and make a purée. I would then freeze that into ice cube trays and make “puppy ice cream”. I’m sure the minerals were so good for the dog.

Right! Every little bit helps! The puppy ice cream is brilliant, wish I had thought of that!

This is fantastic! We've been making our dog food weekly for the last year or so. We usually portion it out into 8 oz tupperwares and refrigerate it. It's a LOT of little cups. Canning would be MUCH better!! Our dogs took a few days to get on board when we changed them over. But now they eat their food in a flash. It took some time to figure out what the proper portion size would be. Our elderly dog trimmed up a bit and began running and playing again. Our younger dog is a working breed and he is thriving on it. The store bought dog foods were killing them.

That’s great! Our pup now much prefers the homemade dog food over her dry, so we’ll definitely make this a regular thing

For small breed dogs only use white rice their digestive tract can't handle the brown rice.

Thank you so much for this videos! You did a great job.
I am thinking of cooking the rice with some of the broth for more nutrients.

I'd do potatos instead of rice. Rice isnt safe to can for people. 🤔 I'd also leave it chunkier and mash a bit before serving to the dog

I wonder if I can add the eggs to this. I haven't canned dog food before. Did you mix a bit of broth into the batch to mix or just top it off?

    • @kaneikaskitchen847
      @kaneikaskitchen847  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I saw some people add in boiled eggs to the mix. I just topped it off so the mix would be less messy

You can save the apples' peels and cores and do homemade apple vinegar.

I think Ball says up to 18 months, but most seasoned canners will say it’s good as long as the seal is good 👍🏻

    WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW
I am going to say this because I have never heard any doctor say it.
A cow has 4 chambers because it's supposed to eat grass and it takes a while to digest that, humans feed them GMO corn and they have over half their bodies in cancer when they go to the slaughterhouse. A buzzard eats roadkill because mother nature made him that way, you don't see it in a pasture grazing with the cow, his body is designed to digest rotting food. Cats and dogs have an intestinal tract that is small to eliminate meat waste within about one-half hour, people give them processed foods and now they get the same diseases as humans, they were not designed to eat what humans give them. Every animal, yes, we are included are designed a certain way, we can't change that, and when we do, we create sickness instead of dying of old age. Humans have a very long track, it takes a while to digest and eliminate food waste, this is the same as any plant-eating animal. The gorilla, the animal that is closest to us, eats plant-based and has the strength to tear us apart. They get their protein from plants, and so should we. Many years ago when the government started the food pyramid and taught it in the schools, the meat industry was the biggest contributor, so they got the big spot.
The studies show that the people that live the longest, are plant-based, no processed foods, no dairy, no meats, no processed oils, growing true foods not GMO, and eating true greens, like dandelion leaves and lambs quarter. Eating true fruits, not chemical-infused strawberries they have at the front doors of a store.
Every new diet that comes to the market has something to gain, there is usually someone behind it that wants to make money off the backs of humans that don't know any better. I was one of them until I reached 40 and started to investigate the food and medical world. I spent the next 15 years studying and the facts are in front of us, we just need to use our brains and stop listening to every doctor. I am a nobody, just someone that is sick and tired of people taking advantage of humans who can't or won't take the time to investigate what they are feeding their families.
My husband said when he ate meat and processed foods he felt bloated after and had to sit down for an hour to have his food digest. He had a triple bypass and the hospital tried to give him pancakes with butter and syrup for breakfast, hamburgers, and fries for dinner. I was furious, that food was why he was there.
I took over and started him on a plant-based diet with no processed foods, he started lifting weights and doing 100 pushups at 3 months after his heart surgery.
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A PACK OF COYOTES RAIDING A CORN FIELD, NO THEY RAID THE CHICKEN HOUSE, OR A DOG CLIMBING A APPLE TREE TO GET TO THE APPLE?
PEOPLE STOP FEEDING YOUR PETS WHAT THEY DONT EAT, YOUR KILLING THEM AND GIVING THEM HUMAN HEALTH PROBLEMS.

my dog loves to graze on grass if I let her, and jumps as fast as she can to eat pumpkin and mango. This is not offered to her often, but if we drop it, she loves it. I get what you're saying, but these domesticated animals are not the same internally as a coyote or wolf, just as someone from Chicago wouldn't eat the same as a someone from a native tribe.
