    I can see 'nods' to ATs anniversary model AT-LP2022 - tone arm is the same, power/speed the same and motor arrangement. Could be a good choice for many. Great review!

    Great review, Mark. I think this turntable will find a lot of happy customers for Audio Technica. Those wanting simple upgrades can swap their stylus when the elliptical one wears out, so another nice touch.
    As a company, they seem to make really excellent value products throughout their range and there is a reason why Linn, for example, partners with them so often. The famous K5, K9, K18 range were all AT made as is the recent Koil moving coil(!) cartridge. I opted for the AT-OC9XSL, which is basically the same as the Koil but 30% cheaper.

    12:10 Nope. I shouldn't buy one, because I already have an SL-1200G with SME V tonearm.
    It was a nice video to watch though.

    This review makes me very happy because we purchased ours for Christmas 2021 and though it did not have BT I am absolutely certain this is the exact same model/style. Sadly I'm not good at remembering all the numbers and letters but it looks exactly the same and has the same cartridge. The only difference is ours is the gloss black model as that's all they had at our local record store (RIP Finders 2023) and minus Bluetooth. I don't mind as we use the receiver's BT which is temperamental but works. I'm so glad we got a nice one because we really wanted the Pro Ject which was a little more expensive but still affordable. We got it to support our record store and we haven't felt remorse or regret. It looks beautiful in our living room with the rest of our equipment and we think it sounds tremendous. Obviously we're no experts and just love music so I don't know if we're missing out on anything but we think we made a solid decision with this turntable. Thank you so much for the review! I read it first when I got the email but I love having photos and video to reference.

      Yes, that’s the one I have. It is the same turntable minus the bluetooth, $50 cheaper and only comes in gloss black.

    The VM95 is actually fairly neutral btw; I've made recordings of these and popped them into a spectrometer to check their frequency response.
    The VM500 series has a bit more brightness though, while the AT-OC9X series is actually the opposite and is a bit warm sounding.
    The AT-ART9XI is neutral (Idk about the AT-ART9XA because I've never had one, but was told it was slightly warmer than the XI counterpart).
    So yeah... Audio Technica has various "sounds", but most people only know their VM95 or VM500 cartridges.

    How much does the turntable weigh?
    BTW, you might not have seen my later reply on the Sound Deck platter mat? It's actually helping more than I first realized. But even better than the vibration absorbing material, and of course related to that, it has greatly increased the clarity of the records I've been listening to. I was amazed by what I didn't even realize was a problem or issue. Since I've been using the Sound Deck mat, the music sounds so much cleaner and better. So thank you for that video recently!

    It’s a lovely turntable, works and sounds just fine and the wood effect look is great. Just unfortunate it doesn’t have a tone arm lock.

    I bought The AT-LPW50PB Version of This , As a Stop Gap Initially, However such is the exceptional performance for such a budget friendly Turntable i will be looking no further. The Build Quality is Excellent, And the combination of the Carbon Fiber Arm With The 95 cartridge brings out so much information it makes a mockery of what Audio Technica Are Charging For This Turntable. I have not found having no damping on the platter an issue Although i have placed a Cork Mat Upon It ...All N' All A Lovely Piece Of Kit... Great Review By The Way.

    That said i got a Sony PS-X6 + new AT VM95ML for way under 500 bucks and its way better that this one.
    And after cleaning,greasinfg and polishing it it even smells new.....
    But it doesnt have Bluetooth and doesnt come with a integrated phonopre.

      I know... but considering this is bluetooth... most of AT's Turntables with BT spike the price for another 100 dollars at least
      Also the wood finish is beautiful compared to just a black and silver finish

    VM95 black cartridge is listed as 299$ USD which doens't make sense for this 499$USD table ($699CAD!!!)
    AudioTechnica's site has a green VM95'E' elliptical bonded for $89USD which is what I think comes with this table.
    Auto stop or auto-return would make this a winner.

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! Can't see that listed anywhere, but the cartridge is simply a VM95E (Black), so the same cartridge with a black version of the elliptical stylus. You can buy replacement styli in black too. 🎶

    Nice review , could you help me I´m planning to buy a new turntable , I´, between the Regal planar 1 or the AT-LPW50bt . thank you

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends very much on what you're looking for in a turntable. The Planar 1 cartridge is solid but a fairly basic entry level option. The mechanics of that deck are spot on though: it tracks records very well. The Audio Technica deck is a different value proposition with bluetooth connectivity and the ability to upgrade the stylus very easily: plus easy speed control.
      If your priority is the basic mechanics of tracking a record, go with the Rega. If the lifestyle aspect and convenient features are important to you, go with AT. Hope this helps and happy listening!

      @@soundmattersMe too. I still have all my albums and singles from the 70s.....which is one of the reasons I am looking for a deck.
      probably going to go for this one. I want Bluetooth and (think) I am prepared to take the hit of not having pure analogue although of course, this gives the option.
      I was considering the LP3XBT, but this looks the better option, although significantly more expensive.
      Love your review btw.

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They’re quite different offerings really. The LP5 is a direct drive turntable, and doesn’t have Bluetooth. The LP50 is also belt-driven. I’d like to test the LP5, it’s supposed to be quite good.

    Looking at the pb version of this or the pro ject sb any advice as to which to go for ?

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pros and cons, both are nice for the price. I take it you mean the T1 Phono SB from Pro-ject? The glass platter is undoubtedly a better material on the T1, but tonearm doesn't have a detachable headshell for easy cartridge swaps, of course. Again: pros and cons with this as arguably a single-piece tonearm can be more "resonant-free".

    • @steveabbiss6913
      @steveabbiss6913 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @soundmatters yes meant the t1 phono sb . Still trying to decide . Im liking the pb for more afordable and easier customisation and the adjustable anti skate but liking the plater and overall style of the t1 plus most people are saying the same as u did in ur review about the build quality of the machined parts and how precise everything is on the t1 . Thanks for replying . 👍
