I bought the other month those fosi mono block amps but found them so bright that i sent them back. I'm using a smsl class d amplifier while my yba is serviced and its much better.

I appreciate the review but I prefer to avoid products made in China if I can find a similar or better product made in Japan, Canada or Europe.

Another PVC sleeve issue is that they can weld themselves to laminated and half-laminated album sleeves from the 60s and 70s, and when you try to take them out of the PVC sleeve half the artwork comes off. Only happened to me once - a copy of Ram by Paul McCartney - but that was enough to stop me using them. I used to store 7" singles in PVC bags and got several instances of vinyl cancer. Odd how it didn't happen to every record though, just occasional ones as if it's some other aspect, like an ink in the single's paper bag, triggered the off gassing.

Feels great does not sound any better. You want to get deeper in the grooves upgrade your cart or stylus.

Lots of good advice but i do think everyones getting a bit ott with record storage. My Dad gave me his records that had been in his loft for 30+ years, stacked on their side and theres nothing wrong with thwm at all.

Thanks for this. I was looking for a turntable that was a decent step up from the LP 60, to use in my caravan. I’m totally blind, so automatic turntables are the way I like to go. I have an LP 120 which I used to play 78, and a 50-year-old dual deck at home. I think I will be investing in one of these for the van! I didn’t realise they did a Bluetooth version of it, And was within 30 seconds of hitting the buy it now on an eBay one which doesn’t have Bluetooth. So I was especially keen to find this video. What are your thoughts on Semi-Automatic vs Manual vinyl record player. Upgrading from an old entry level Audio Technica Semi-Auto record player which has been really convenient, but the manual ones seem like better quality?

Never use a solvent based cleaner on your stylus. FYI, alcohol of any type, is, a solvent! Many styli use glues to bond their diamonds to the cantilever or the needle itself is "bonded" thus the diamond is only the very tip of the needle, the rest being a dense metal. Most manufacturers recommend either the brush or the gel cleaner. Personally, I hate brushes because I have a shaky hand. However, there is a method as gentle as the gel and as thorough as the brush! Original Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! It will clean your stylus as well or better than any other method, has absolutely zero chemicals and is absolutely innocuous to the stylus. Simply dip the stylus into a small, thin block of the spongy material as you would into a gel cleaner. A whole eraser sponge should last you for decades (cut into small thin cubes). And, best of all, it costs pennies. Before I "dip" the stylus I give the cantilever a few short bursts of air with my optical lens Giottos manual lens blower and the entire thing is like fresh out of the box in seconds.

Australia here goes from hot, humid 30+ summers to mild, chilly 10 degree winters. The cost of electricity is obscene. So records have to fend for themselves.

The first album I bought was in 1970 and I still own it. I only listen to albums (vinyl or CD) when my wife is out as she doesn't like my taste in music. In the car we listen to 60's and 70's pop compilations that I put together. I think the main reason people these days don't listen to albums is that they can't be bothered investing their time in getting to know every track. That's a shame. In the past (on first playing a new album) I would think a song may be weaker than others on the album but over time grow to like it more than the other songs. Weird but true.

Did this and the record was still dusty? waste of money!

I have this turntable paired with edifier Bluetooth speakers, very happy. !!

Just basic care is more than enough. Keep them vertically at room temperature, avoid touching the surface with your fingers and clean them once in a while. All the rest is BS. I just listed to one of my records that I got when I was a teenager and it sounds as good as new records I bought few days ago.

Does using Bluetooth mitigate the quality of the in built pre amp?

Removing dust. I use microfibre. All is what I do..... Leave turntable off. Wipe in the direction of rotation. Because when playing, the stylus pulls the dust into the part of the groove about to hit the stylus. So therefore go in opposite direction. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp microfibre, then a dry. I don't use detergent. Ever wondered why your carpet seems to get dirty quicker after cleaning. Dirt sticks to detergent residue. I don't use hot fluids like methylated spirit it removes plasticisers from the vinyl, which makes it brittle. Some of my records are around 52 years, still shiny and sound good so I'm doing something right I guess.

Original it comes with the instructions how to handle your records. What's in a record with oil can cause clever ciders. Keep records away from high heat. Read more. Do not hold records in front of electric heaters. The electric heater will melt the record. Summertime. Do not leave records in hard vehicle with the windows rolled up. It will also melt the records install your records at room temperature. Story of Rutgers and vertical position. It's much easier to browse through it with your fingers. Do not start records horizontally because they start to get heavy and then the records that's on top or slide right off. What causes records to Warp? Is the heat. What causes the stylus tip to skip towards the label or away from the label? Crepitus. Be sure to follow the manufacturer instructions on the sleeve. Do not store records and cold temperature. Hold the record by using your thumb at the trimming edge and your middle finger at the label. Hold a record on a trimming edge with both hands just like the same way to do with the recordables. Some records are thin and some records are thick. The thin records are Warp. If it skips towards the label or away from the label is most likely is the stylus. You may need to change your stylus.

I use a timer called "StylusTImer", which can be purchased at various places on-line, including Walmart. When you drop the needle on the record, you click the start button, and when the side finishes playing, you press the stop button. This timer allows me to monitor the number of hours of use my stylus has, so I can replace it once it reaches 1,000 hours.

As so many others have said here. I’ve always found the Horizontal stacking of Vinyl Albums an interesting phenomenon and have wondered where is the proof? Has anyone ever done a true study on this warping? I ask because I have a decent portion of my vinyl stored in some old document storage shelves. These allow me to stack the albums horizontally up to about 10cm (4”) worth before the next shelf is encountered. My issue is, I’ve had these albums stored this way for more than 30 years now with inside temps varying between 16C (62F) and 38C (100F) and have never encountered any warping. In fact, I’ve purchased new albums that have had more warpage to them. I’m not trying to argue that horizontal stacking won’t have adverse effects on them, but I have as yet never seen any definitive controlled studies that show these affects. Could this simply be a belief that is not based on facts, simply being passed down through generations? For me, horizontal stacking appears to be just fine, at least up to a stack of 10cm. Maybe it's time we put this horizontal stacking worries to bed, or at least until we can gather some real empirical studies that prove this stack warping to be true!

I've been using Vinyl Storage solutions since you first recommended them, I tried a couple of others and will never make that mistake again. MoFi sleeves are good but nothing beats the Vinyl Storage Solution sleeves.

My records had been in the loft for 30 years, exposed to extreme heat and cold. I took them out at Christmas as my wife bought me a top notch turntable and every one I’ve played so far has played perfect and no warping whatsoever. The only problem I had was a couple of covers had stuck together but most were in plastic sleeves. All have original original sleeves but I did buy the ones you recommended, or very similar and I hated them. They seem to ruffle up and don’t slide into the cover properly. I’ll stick with what’s been fine for me so far.

Yep, I tend to overpack my bins because of a space problem! ...I learned my lesson a long time ago when I stored my LPs on metal "erector set" type of shelving! Now I use either heavy wooden units like you do or stackable heavy plastic crates. All of my LPs are in poly outer sleeves but do have most in paper inner sleeves.

Labels should stop using the crap sleeves themselves in the first place.

While I completely agree with this list, and always stand my records vertically, me and my brothers had a stack of 30+ rock albums from the 80s in my parents garage without climate control for 25 years before I got back into vinyl. We didn’t know they moved them out there where they sat in that garage stacked horizontally throughout Maine’s humid summers and icy cold winters. Temps ranged from +100F to -10F throughout the years. Not one of them warped and they still sound amazing. I’m taking care of them now and I’m extremely happy they lived through the neglect. Phew!

I used to own some vinyl and I kept them in the packaging they came with and in a vertical orientation in the temperature the room had at the time . I had zero problems and when CDS became available I switched to them and I have not looked back.

Avoid collecting and buying vinyl 👎 but DO collect and buy CDs instead for the pure sound quality that the artist intended you to hear their music, NOT with crackles and pops so enjoy the durability of CDs that don’t deteriorate because it’s only a laser beam going to the CD disc, NOT actual physical contact like vinyl and cassette…People who are obsessed with collecting vinyl forget my previous comments on how CDs are really the right way to listen, collect and enjoy music for many many years to come 👍😃👍

PVC outer sleeves are pure evil. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Record weights set up stress patterns in the vinyl which will open or close the groove affecting the ability of the stylus to track correctly

My favourite inner sleeves are polyethylene lined paper sleeves - the square ones. The rigidity of the paper makes removing the record and sliding it back into the jacket easier and you get the protection from the plastic. Best of both!

Thanks, Another recommendation: Clean lps before putting in sleeve. Otherwise the dust picked by lp during playback will stick stronger on it by time.
