    I started watching you a couple of years ago. I searched the internet, watched video reviews and decided to purchase the Fluance RT85. The acrylic platter is extremely nice and I love the Ortofon Blue cartridge. I must say that I love this turntable. I believe you may have had an AudioTecnica direct drive at that time, but your unbiased reviews helped me decide on what I have and enjoy now. You also love those speakers so I looked around, did my research and went with the same brand but got "The Sixes" which blow my mind of how great they are. Thank you for another great video. I've loved getting back to my vinyl over the last couple of years and love going to used record stores as well as purchasing new pressings. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and wonderful New Year.

    My Audio Technica lp120 served me well, what i absolutely hated about it the last few years i owned it was the built in rca cables. I had it for 7 years, passed it down to my neice and now have a MoFi Studiodeck. Absolutely love it!!!

    I have s few turntables, but my main one is the Fluance belt-drive RT85N. It's my primary turntable, and it's affordable. Mine shipped with an Ortofon Blue cartridge. I'm not expecting to replace it. I'm pleased with the performance at the price. I'm not wealthy .
    Personally, I prefer an external pre-amp because it lets me find the best match for my listening preferences. My present one is the Fosi Audio Box X3, which allows swapping-out the vacuum tubes for different performance results.
    To each, their own, of course, but I like my setup.

    Hi, I bought a record but when it arrived, the vinyl had this black smudge all over it and i couldn’t get it off using your cleaning techniques. I havent had the chance to try it out because I’m still waiting for my turntable to arrive.
    I’ll edit it once I am able to test it

    Awesome list! I own AT LP60x with Edifier ODB BT speakers but I really want to listen to my vinyl on headphones. Sadly i can't find a jack on the table or speakers. I don't even know where to begin and when I research how to use/instal headphones, it gets even more confusing 😢

      You could try something like the Bellari HA543 which has an input on the back for something such as your turntable with adjacent outputs to your speakers, and on the front are 2 headphone jacks for standard 1/4” and 1/8”. You’ll need an extra set of RCA cables to go from the unit to your speakers. Hope this helps!

    I recently acquired the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO and i am very impressed with the performance. I'm in Australia so it comes with an Ortofon 2M Red pre installed and it doesnt come with 78 RPM capability. The only downside is having to take the platter off to change from 33 to 45 RPM. Other than that, i love it.

      The Carbon EVO has a switch for 33/45 speeds, and has 78rpm capability with a provided belt. You have the older 'non EVO' variant.

    I know I'm firmly in the minority on this one but the Nagaoaka 110 was one of the most disappointing carts I've ever used. Sounded like someone had thrown a blanket over my speakers. I returned it for another on the off chance I had gotten a defective cart and it was the same. Took a chance on the more expensive AT VM540ML and never looked back.

    The pro-ject is the only 3-sp. I have a lot of older records so this is important. I've heard that older vinyl requires a different stylus. Is that true?

    • @vinyleyezz
      @vinyleyezz  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, exactly! When playing the older 78 Shellac Records, you need to use a different cartridge/stylus, like the Ortofon 2M 78, or Grado 78E Cartridge.

    Hello im new of Vinyl thing i just want to buy everything and i have a quastion. If i have a turn table with a build in preamp and i have an active speaker (speaker with a build in amplifier correct me is im worng) is this gonna work? thy the help any sry if my question is dumb

    • @LordWaterBottle
      @LordWaterBottle 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Quite late, but yes that will work.
      The record player with built ij preamp will output at the same level as a DAC or old TV with RCAs, which then go out to the active speakers, which just want that same DAC / RCA level, and basically have their own electronics built in.

    I have a Sony PS-LX310BT and mine doesn't have a USB port on the back. I checked the manual and it says the USB port is inside the turntable and is only accessible by taking off the platter, used for firmware updates. I'm away right now and can't check for myself but I would have noticed a USB port on the back of mine because I've had to digitize my records before by using separate equipment.

    Hi Jarrett, I'm a paying member of your channel. I've sent you an email and posted several different videos with no luck. Please help me out with my
    equipment setup. I've got a new Fluance RT 83, separate Amp and a Denon AVR 683 that does not have a phono in option. I sent you some pics of my equipment so you could tell me what to do. I'm at my wits end and ready to just chuck it all. I became a member just for this reason, to get my questions answered. Thank you, Paul White

    • @vinyleyezz
      @vinyleyezz  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Paul! Got your messages, thank you for your patience. You said you have the following setup: Fluance RT83, a Moukey Amp, and a Denon AVR 683 Receiver. The reason you're not hearing any sound coming out of your Denon receiver, is because there is no preamp in your setup. From what I've found online, The Moukey is a Stereo 2 Channel Amplifier, not a Preamp. So basically, you have 2 amps and no preamp in the setup. Also the Fluance RT83 doesn't come with a built-in preamp either, unless you buy one from them separately. So if you just swap the Moukey Amp, with a Simple Fluance PA10 Preamp, and then connect it to the LINE INPUT on your Denon Receiver, you'll be good to go! After that you'll hear the music loud and clear! Good luck!

    Sony offer a "gain" function on their record player? These guys were among the first to crank up the volume of their CD's to excess. Ironically the vast majority of Sony CD's I've got pre-1993 are some of the best CD's you'll ever hear. So does this mean they're trying to ruin records like they ruined CD's? Probably, but it won't work: You can turn off the gain function or even buy a different player, but you can't turn down a loud recording.

    Don't forget Turret driven record players! ;)

  • @chadvanderlinden9548
    @chadvanderlinden9548 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So I heard Jarret describe 3-4 different tone arm materials (aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber) described as "for better sound" lol. If they all provide "better" sound then I guess they're all equal!?
    The best sound doesn't come from a model that is automated, has bluetooth, usb or an embedded preamp. Direct drive, big pitch sliders and plug-in cartridges are for DJs who need a rugged system that can do tricks. However, unless you're in an ideal listening environment and/or an experienced listener, you won't really tell the difference. Don't pay extra for a model that has 78rpm (and the special needle for that) unless you've been hired to digitize great grandpa's archive. Powered bookshelf speakers are for personal listening in small rooms like your dorm or office and you only have a single sound source. Big, powered (or passive) PA speakers are something else entirely.
    The best quality turntables are belt drive, have heavy platters, non-slip rubber mats and fine adjustment for counterweight and skating. You pair that with a stereo "receiver" like Jarret's Yamaha system which has dedicated turntable, tape and aux inputs, radio, preamp, amplifier and connections for passive speakers.
    There are nice sounding rugged and compact stereo systems out there, but there is utterly no comparison to full-sized systems. Very good systems usually cost a lot, BUT truly crappy systems come both cheap and expensive. Ask your parents to help you pick a good model.
    And if you buy a crosley or any other kind of portable turntable, you may as well use your LPs for doormats.
