Here in Stillwater Minnesota a carpenter was doing extensive upgrades to a house when the 2008 crash happened. The house owner had a red with white stripes 05 or 06 Ford GT and his income dived after the market tanked. The carpenter finished the house and the house owners only way to pay the contractor was with the Ford GT. So the house owner signed over the title and the carpenter took ownership of the GT which he drove around town almost every day that it wasn’t winter time. The carpenter must have sold it or parked it since I haven’t seen it in several years. But the value of an 05/06 GT has climbed enough to buy a very nice house.

Seeing this car out at Coffee and Cars OKC always makes my day. I love seeing it not sit inside as some garage queen, but instead it's driven hard. The spec is gorgeous with the silver HREs, same goes for your 765 Andy. Keep achieving your dreams and I can't wait to see the other incredible cars you'll own!
Need more stories from guys like this. A true, down to earth, humble car enthusiast. Gives all us who started in a similar way with minimal or less than average situations, pure inspiration and hope. Wonderful story 🙏🏽
As an engineer and adjunct professor. I get the whole, never look back thing. I have always loved designing and building stuff. Did my own Tuscan home and know a lot of tradesmen, which I easily could have been. These are the people that build our country.
That car is amazing, and the HRE wheels are perfect on it. But I wouldn't have sold the '05. To me, that is in the top 5 most beautiful cars of all time.
He’s owned many cool cars. But the current fleet is pretty amazing this, 765lt, 993 turbo,720s and the best part is he has a young daughter who’s always with him in a car seat. He’s owned the 1/1 Monterey edition ( pink ) SV
I live in the same town as this gentleman does. He always brings the car out to Coffee and cars and super nice as well. He would also put the car seat in his Mclaren 720s as well.
THIS! Andy could be any of us that feel deeply about cars. His GT story resonates with me and I hope to hear more of his stories. +1 for the kidseat, I love sharing my cars with my kids.
Wow, I'm 19 now, bought my first car, a 2012 mustang (v6 sadly, still extremely fun little car), when I was 17 after mowing lawns since I was 13, now I work in a lab and am currently looking at a c6z06. Sorry for rambling, but genuinely, this is incredibly inspiring. I'm already very happy and proud of what I've done so far, but it's so nice to see that something like this is a possibility at all, and it's oddly comforting knowing I still have a long way to go. :)
Why does everyone downplay the V6? It's still cheap speed, for Christ's sake. And personally, if you have been able to find a nice C6, you should take a look at the late C5 Z06 (03-04s), nice ones go for about 20-25K and it's a good deal: LS engine, 400 ponies, interior's your usual cheap GM plastic from the time, but that's alright lol
Great story. It would appear that he was exactly the kind of customer that they should allocate a build slot to and I'd never have imagined quite how good it would look in Miami Blue. Excellent choice.
Given that Ford was targetting genuine car lovers as buyers, and not just investors looking for an asset to make a short term profit from, it wouldn't surprise me if Ford bumped his build purely because of him turning down the Heritage and why.
That's an amazing story I love it. For being a major car guy enthusiast and disabled veteran I know that I'll never be able to ride it even sit in one of these amazing machines these videos of others getting their dreams help alot. I sacrificed my body for this country and wish I could of bought a super car but things just didn't work out for me but this guy in this video 👏
Great story! Have a friend who also started a lawn mowing business in high school, went on to college and had a career in law enforcement. But, never gave up his lawn business. Today depending on the time of year, he has between 40-50 employees working for him. You so did the right thing designing the GT your way. Three years ago I built my dream R8. Can't go anywhere without at least one person commenting on the color and the build. It's 1 of 1. Enjoy your ride!
I've cut lawns for 10 years. Bought my house and 2 duplexes within about 5 years of mowing. Bought my truck and a couple vehicles for my wife. Bought a 68 mustang fastback, focused on real estate so haven't restored it yet. Have enough tools and equipment to start several different types of businesses. Lawncare has been good to me and my family. I've been blessed.
Awesome this popped up even though it's old. Love Andy's story and realizing his big dreams come true because he worked his ass off for it. If the love of cars and the determination to achieve what you set your mind to were like football, this guy won the equivalent of the Super Bowl with the GT allocation. I know a little about his line of work, here's a fact - the guys that bust their ass, say what they mean and mean what they say - do what they get paid to do? They can provide a good life for not only themselves, but also the team of people he obviously has around him to be great. It's hard work, but if you're good enough, there's people willing to pay for the best quality out there. If you ask me? He built a beautiful car - I love it more than any tribute car because, there's only one. Awesome story!
That’s Awesome The Blue Collar Working Man works his way up to a Huge Landscape Business and then into a New Beautiful Ford GT!!! What a inspiration!!!
You can absolutely hear his passion when he speaks. A very humble man with a love for cars that just absolutely resonates with me... Very happy for him to achieve this dream, seems like they chose the right person for that slot
I love enthusiasts like this. So happy a GT went to a person who appreciates the car and will actually drive it. Far too many cars are just being bought by collectors now for investments instead of to be enjoyed as often as possible. Thanks for living the dream most of cannot!
Imagine if manufactures put in minimum milage clauses like how they prohibit trading. Something like 'must average X miles on the car per month over each year, or [manufacturer] can buy it back for sticker price.' With some caveat for shop time. Too many of these class of car just end up rotting away in a museum.
At the last dealer ship I worked for Chrysler. We got a customer was willing to pay major bucks for a Dodge Challenger Demon but only with one condition. That it had to have less than 5 miles. We ordered one and it arrive and all the sales managers also fainted. The car came in with 12 miles. So no deal. This guy that wanted to buy it was a car collector so we was not going to drive it. It was going to be trucked to his garage and put away.
That color is perfect and love them wheels. The ford GT by far one of the best looking cars ever. Even the 2005 GT are cool but the new one is 10 levels up
My Grandfather worked at a place called "news and smokes" when I was young, and they also carried magazines. I recieved all the leftover monster truck and car mags that didn't sell. Aside form all the " free chew" promos lol (never got into chew) but I became a nut for cars. The engineering, the insane genius behind it all. Still fascinates me at 42 years old. Best Vin video, or top 3
Amazing video! I got emotional watching it. I did put my love for cars on the side for many years but I remember when I was a kid saving money to buy a monthly magazine named “automobile classic” it was the most expensive of the car magazine but the pictures were amazing and paper quality insane. I treated that magazine like gold bars. I’m 37, driving a 21 ecoboost and trying to make my little Georgia private Investigations firm bigger step by step. But just seeing and listening to that guy story was exactly what I needed. Congrats and wish you the best.
This is one of those "Finally happened" moment where a true car guy is able to get the car he wants and drive it instead of parking it in a garage to slowly decay
It's nice to see someone so passionate about the car enjoy it so much. Have you ever met someone with a cool car that barely knows anything about it, and they just bought it for image or whatever? This is the opposite of that, and it's gratifying.
I’m glad he was able to get his car and I always enjoyed talking college football with Mr. Nelson. Good luck to your Sooners this season! Go Blue! I’ll be cheering for my Wolverines.
I got approved for a GT first round of applications because I've owned a lot of obscure Fords. that's what they were looking for, along with you'd never sell it, and put enough mileage on it every year.
I'm also in Edmond and have seen Andy's car out quite a few times! It's an amazing story on how he ended up with it, and it's awesome that it actually went to a real car guy!
Good for him. Too many people get into the college trap nowadays when there is allot of opportunity out there for people who are willing to work hard at a trade or just plain labour. Don't get me wrong a college education can be a great thing. If your willing to get something out of it AND you get one that has job prospects when you complete it. Like an Engineer, teacher, nursing, research, etc. Getting something like a degree a history and/or arts degree has so few prospects apon completion it should be a crime that universities turn out so many of them. I have too many friends with English, history or arts degrees that spent years serving tables trying to figure out where their lives went wrong while I got an design and drafting diploma from a Canadian tech and trades school for 3 years and was happy making decent money for a farming heavy equipment manufacturer and paying off my student loans long before they got their shit together. IMO I think apon graduating high schoolkids should take a year or 2, get a job and do some traveling. You don't know shit about the real world so how can you be expected to make a career decision that could affect your next 10-30 years while in high school? The real world is sobering to the dreams of a child. Allot of my friends realized too late that university wasn't right for them and but they found happiness doing carpentry, becoming an emt, policing, becoming engineering techs, etcs. And so they also ended up with crippling student loan debt for an education they didn't use or appreciate.
I remember watching CaptainSparklez go through his Ford GT process. Seemed so special and he ended up going with Miami blue as well but with exposed carbon stripes
PERFECT COLOR too...your wife has great taste. That car is my true dream car. I've been a die-hard Ford guy since I was a grade school kid. Perfect. Thanks for this story. I love it!💯

What a lot of people are missing is the work ethic(s) and drive that lead him to his financial success. That is so overlooked in today's world. Everyone expects things to be handed to them and don't try or care to try. I feel the same as Andy in that a goal as a child is never to be forgotten. Do I have a Testarossa in my garage, no, I have a C5 Z06. But, I have owned many cars and have loved every one of them along the way. That was all from my childhood and chasing goals. I don’t remember now what the total value was, but the stock was redeemable and nets at the grandson several hundred thousand dollars
@@rodrogers6895 wow, that’s actually incredible
My first job was in Stillwater at the Dairy Queen on main st. Small world!
I was just working up there in somerset at ASM for the past 2 years
This is on my top 3 Vin Wiki stories. A car guy thru and thru who has crazy cool passion for cars is just so dam cool.
Great video! As a fellow Ford GT owner, I agree completely! The Ford GT concierge is next level!
Seen this car in OKC all the time. Makes me so happy everytime and I'm so glad he drives it regularly. Really good guy.
Thank you sir!
I live in OKC. I want to see this car on the road so bad 🔥
A car guy to the point it hurts you inside. I know exactly what he means.
It has become an obsession, and we wouldn´t want it any other way!! LMAO
He meant he's broke
Same dude, same
I'm glad you know the feeling:)
@@christoner2666 that too but its the best kind of broke :)
That color might just be the best one for the GT. Just flashy enough and man it really shows those bodylines
But we'll never know because you didn't get an allocation...
@@tjmoneybags what ?
@@okieg8960 something from the video. Idk what it was now. Sorry
These are the types of people who deserve cars like this. Glad Ford saw that.
Man this channel never disappoints. Thank you once again Ed for having a platform where stories like this can be shared for all of us to enjoy!

What a guy. What a spec too. I’m in love with the color and perfect wheel color to compliment the Miami Blue. Favorite spec I’ve seen so far.
It’s also stuck in race mode ( intentionally)
I live in the same town as this gentleman does. He always brings the car out to Coffee and cars and super nice as well. He would also put the car seat in his Mclaren 720s as well.
THIS! Andy could be any of us that feel deeply about cars. His GT story resonates with me and I hope to hear more of his stories. +1 for the kidseat, I love sharing my cars with my kids.
Thanks for the kind words CGJ!
@@ScathingMobile exactly. Not to mention his spec was fuckin awesome. Lol
Yeah they gave it to CaptainSparklez a Minecraft TH-camr who loves cars, who also isn’t afraid to take it driving or to the track
Thanks for your service. :)

Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice for this country!

Great Story. I’m sure having his entire fleet of work trucks being Fords didn’t hurt. Car makers need to go back basics on how to build brand loyalty.
lol I was going to comment the same. Ford knew they had a good fleet customer and GT enthusiast.
He is a better ambassador for Ford than most “influencers ” on social media. He is real person who enjoys his cars and actually drives them.
I love his humility, this guy deserves the allocation.
To turn down a heritage allocation, to get what he truely wants is beyond impressive.
Amen, Brother!
Thank you for the kind words, Timothy.
It was going to be trucked to his garage and put away.
one of the most deserving guys to get one , im sure - congrats
That color is perfect and love them wheels. The ford GT by far one of the best looking cars ever. Even the 2005 GT are cool but the new one is 10 levels up
You won’t find a nicer, more humble guy than Andy. Hugs bro!
XOXO A R;)
My Grandfather worked at a place called "news and smokes" when I was young, and they also carried magazines. I recieved all the leftover monster truck and car mags that didn't sell. Aside form all the " free chew" promos lol (never got into chew) but I became a nut for cars. The engineering, the insane genius behind it all. Still fascinates me at 42 years old. Best Vin video, or top 3
this is one of my fav stories ever on here
Statistics almost made me quit college. Glad to see Andy achieved his dreams. Cars are a great motivator.
That car is hands down 1,000× better looking than any heritage edition! Beautiful spec on it sir. You deserve it!
Daaang that's quite the experience! The smiles at the end when they received delivery, priceless.
Seeing this car at Coffee and Cars OKC was amazing. Always a highlight seeing this car in the flesh, rolling down the road.
I love how he mentioned that his wife wanted him to keep it. She truly loves him
It's nice to see someone so passionate about the car enjoy it so much. Have you ever met someone with a cool car that barely knows anything about it, and they just bought it for image or whatever? This is the opposite of that, and it's gratifying.
Back when the Auto Trader magazine was still available at the local gas station, I mowed lawns as a kid to earn money for my first truck. 1994 Ranger
The 05' GT is a rad car, so raw. The new ones are bitchin, the carbon is just beautiful, I always enjoy seeing them out and around in socal.
That is without a doubt the most beautiful Ford GT I've ever seen. That color with those rims is perfect!
Finally someone who is a true car guy that buys the car for the experience and doesn't care about the money that it's worth.
100% agree what this bloke was saying about real car guys. And what a guy, humble and made this all for himself!
Thanks for the kind words, Spartan
@@andynelson9225 You 100% deserve it man ❤️🤟🏼
Good for him.
Well done and many congratulations! Love it that you got the car - keep it and give it to your daughter👍👍👍
Great idea 🙂
That may very well be the plan:)
I've seen this car in Norman once or twice! I didn't know the color was bespoke chosen by the customer. That's awesome!
Congrats Andy on the GT. Beautiful spec. Would love to see the application video if its available on TH-cam?
I've seen the car in person and it is amazing. I am so happy that he brings this out and actually drives it!!!
That was a great story, from a humble man that clearly loves his family and loves cars.
PERFECT COLOR too...your wife has great taste. That car is my true dream car. I've been a die-hard Ford guy since I was a grade school kid. Perfect. Thanks for this story. I love it!💯
That color is unbelievable on the Ford GT 😍 Nice Spec 👌
Oh the Dupont Registry I know it well. My favorite was the double Christmas issue, I kept my 1988 magazine for years. I even took it to Thailand and read it everyday for 3 weeks🤣 in "98". It's nice to see that I wasn't alone with my obsession.
Nice to see someone work their way to the big dream.
Something not taught in schools anymore.... cuz its "racist"
"You know, any time your going to have a car delivered..." Words I've never spoken, nor will I likely ever be able to speak. Still, great to hear about your experience!
I’d like to see more videos with this fellow Oklahoman. Enjoyed your story from Tulsa. My family lives in Edmond, maybe one day I’ll see a Miami Blue blur that belongs to you zooming by.
This man is so humble, really loved the story in this video. Thanks
Great guy, and a well deserved allocation.
Never was a fan of the newer Ford GT but this Miami blue color and those wheels make this thing pop like no other!
As a fellow Oklahoman (Tulsa) I'd like to hear more stories from Andy. And also would like to know how often he attends Cars and Coffees in OKC lol
I'm there almost every month:)
I'm not crying, you're crying. This story is awesome, seems like a legit car guy.
So inspirational seeing him on this channel. I have passed that Ford GT twice, have a few pictures. Never knew his story till now.
That blue looks absolutely beautiful on this car.😎
FWIW, those high dollar loads do tend to get expedited a bit by reason of security concerns, and one of a few hundred cars of its type would carry even greater concern for load hijacking, sooooooo...
As a car guy myself, I’m thrilled you got this over some guy that was gonna get it just as an investment.
What did you guys think of the latest Car Trek series? All 3 episodes of Car Trek 7 are live now on Tavarish’s channel. Our next series is already shot and it is being edited now.

Miami blue works with those rims and it´s nice to see one without stripes
Can we see the application video? Id love to see it!
Your story of hard work, family, and determination is an inspiration.
Utter madness to turn down a Heritage.
But completely insane not to want that car in Miami Blue. It's sensational
Lastly, humble and humility go a LONG way in life. I find that it isn't about what you have it is who you are.
Passing up an F40 for a Ford GT is a problem that most of us will never face!
Not sure how I would have handled that one lol
My only consolation is that I don't think I'd actually fit in an F40...
I'd go f40
Worked for Andy when I was 20, great dude, I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw his viper for the first time 🤣.
Average landscaper: I've owned 14 Vipers but just felt they were entry level.
Over a 10 year span I owned those Vipers. Some of them I flipped to make some money, one of them I flipped (literally) into some trees, some I road raced and some I drag raced... Only kept one long term. Was fun going through them for a decade...
