Yes he was
Such an intense scene. The faster he goes, the more you think something's going to happen any moment. And it does.
Kris Kristofferson was/is a stunningly handsome bad boy!!😍🤩❤️🌹👍🏾 And a Rhodes scholar a.k.a. genius 😍
So tragic, but he did it for her 💔
That fkn engine just roars!
This was my father back in the 70s. He had the hurst on the floor, and the best 8 track collection. I miss you dad!
And now we’ve lost Kris Kristofferson.. rip legend
He knew it was over for him but a beginning for her
The Perfect Sacrifice 💞😇💞
Lost Forever Inside of You 💞♾️💞
I love you my Beautiful Boy 💞🙏💞
It's coming in over the news he has passed away today...rip Kris Kristofferson....
The most beautiful scene in God's Green Earth. This will never be replicated. EVER...
Look real closely at the highway as the car goes over the hill look at the highway It cast a shadow that lets you know he is heading toward his demise. One of my all-time favorite out of all of a star is born, next Judy Garlands version.
I love how they really took their time with this movie how it didn't seem rushed and it built very nicely the characters scenes --- really showed the true essence of two musicians lovers and the dynamic of 1 unable to control the demons an addictions no longer wanting to live his dreams yet ending his life so her dreams coming true can continue. Esther who has addictions yet no demon was losing herself... that ballsy vybe. Addiction to love and stand by Your Man no matter what. At the scene of him dead it really showed in that scene true emotion. The grief scenes without rushing definitely incredible Exquisite - for a star is born. Ending ... Superb.
Yep, He put it in full throttle and disappeared. A very powerful scene. Excellent movie!
It still amazes me how once ppl decide to do it they just do it with no fear
My first introduction to death, I was 6 years old at the drive-through with my sisters and parents. My sisters fell asleep after the kiddie movie, I was not tired that night. Still love this movie.
To this day, when I see this, I cry. I get so emotional. Great Movie!
I fell in love with car as soon as I saw it. The almighty,Ferrari 365 GTS/4 “Daytona” spider. In proper Ross’s Cora’s red with Nero black interior. And a rare( today any way) Vonox 8 track
James Garrity
8 track tapes were the S H I T.
Now we got unique Digital and thank god Vinyl Records are still going after 100 years.
I’m starting to think that the ‘star’ being born is in reference not to the living celebrity but to the legend created by an untimely death. See: Hendrix; Joplin; Winehouse; Cobain; Presley; Jackson etc
Bingo!!
Rip Kris, U meant alot to my family n I 🩵🕊
Even though the ending is sad, it makes me feel good knowing that both Kris and Barbra are alive and well enjoying their lives
Edit: R.I.P Kris Kristofferson 1936-♾️
Kris has dementia.
@@Charles_Stanley13 Yeah, I heard of it, yet he’s still enjoying his life at the age of 88, and so does Barbara.
So sad. So good looking.saw this movie with my Mom. I was 12. Cried......
RIP Kris and he passed away in a very special place Hana Maui and even knew how to drive a Ferrari V 12 I got to see this car being restored years ago in West Los Angeles
2nd fav version of this movie. Goodbye & GO live high on the mountain. RIP
One of favorite movies of all time.
He drives a Ferrari, but drinks Schlitz.
😂💀 Right?!
Yes, my uncle David drank beer while he was driving, until he
got caught ...
@@bobbyfrancis8957 yes sir. I suppose if you do it often enough, you get caught eventually. I was fortunate to avoid the law but stopped drinking and driving many years ago, thank God. I hope your uncle is well.
@@rottenapple6109 Uh, not exactly. I said my uncle was caught
and he was fined at least $ 200, that was quite some time ago. He was born in the 1940s, so a few years ago I think
he died of old age.
@@bobbyfrancis8957 oh. Sorry to hear that my friend. Take care of yourself.
I saw this movie when I was 12. Loved it and the music. I bought the 8 track tape and sang to it for hours. To this day I haven't forgotten the words to every song
Wow, 8 track in the car 😂
Even rarer, that’s the original sound system for the Ferrari Daytona, with an 8 track!
They producers wanted to have a Porsche for this movie and Porsche said no , they didn't want it for a crash in the movie , so they went Ferrari as 2nd choice . . .
It would be impossible not to drive like a madman with that rockin’ Strysand tune cranked up louder than af.
On a 8 track tape at that!
Fuck yeah
Rest in Peace, Kris. Prayers for You and your Family
It's amazing what you remember. My older sister and her fiancée took me to see this when I was 11 years old against my Mother's wishes because it was an " R " movie. But this scene has stuck with me all these years. I'm 58 now and still cry when I see this 😢
Just at the start of the 8-track tapes' demise -- so strange to see.
Rip Kris your music will play forever 🙏 💔 ❤😢
I will never forget this movie
RIP KRIS
Why. I hate John Norman did this.
I seen this film, but never understood this scene. Why did he killed himself?
He was burned out and going downhill and he wanted to get out of her way so she could become a star. Same theme in all the Star is Born movies.
John Norman believed the best years of his career were behind him & he saw himself as an anchor weighing down Esther whose “star” kept rising higher and higher. He thought she would be better off without him.
He didn't, he just crashed through driver error and boozing on the move.
It was funny to see an 8 track in the Ferrari, just because there was only room for the odd 1 or two cassettes lying in front of the player.
Rest in peace 😢
Here's what I don't understand about this scene. Towards the end they show him putting the car in the final gear. Now I wasn't able to get see the numbers on the clutch but is there a reason why they showed him shifting towards the end
I don't know, but this is my favorite movie EVER!!
I'm not sure what you mean.
I'm not sure but if I had to guess it seems like he put it in 5th gear to show him not slowing down- just speeding up to take the curves. Dead Man's Curve
The time where he is shifting was a dog leg shift down into first. The time he shifted he was shifting into 4th,the Ferrari 365GTS/4 has a 5 speed, 5th and final gear would be down.
Holly wood wanted to give the impression of him gaining more speed,in reality,he was shifting from 3rd to 4th. Seeing as this is a 5 speed, final gear would have been strait back
I wonder if that house there is real
Very intense scene! It broke my heart. How many of us wanted to just put the pedal to the metal and smash our vehicle when life was just a bit overwhelming ?
RIP Kris
Go Rubber Duck Go !
Omg, he is so fine.
Kris was so fcking cool
I always wondered if he crashed on purpose to release Esther...and himself of his demons.
Yes that’s the underlying story of all the Star is Born movies. The drunken screwup takes himself out and gets out of her way to let her Star be born and grow.
This is what made me become a rockstar, locally :)
The same Ferrari Daytona at The movie Gumball Rally 1976
No words.
The remake cannot compete with this
The remake absolutely crushes this
@@SuperDaddyishere No
@@newberlinwall2868 yo bro this movie is a remake aswell so I mean😂
@@SuperDaddyishere Ahahahaha
This scene remind me so much on Jim Morrison and his "Blue lady"
I rented the movie from Netflix a few years ago. This scene makes a good *Drunk Driving* commercial, which is what I was taught in the 90s. Even today, there are commercials where the message is *Don't drive and drive.*
Kristofferson slugging down a Schlitz was the best acting he did in this movie.
Ok Melvin.
Love is a many SpLendid Thing . . .
Did he snort a line of coke right before he switched tapes?
More than likely or that drain came
No seatbelt
If I listened to that alien song , I would crash too . He can’t drive
First of all, you don’t drink and drive.
Had to be a stunt driver right? He didn't really drive that
She drove him to his death? Think about it.
He can’t drive
why does this cut off before they show him dead on the side of the road?
They didn't want to show the accident. In the last scene when the car goes over the hill that symbolizes that he's gone. I have the movie on DVD and there is a commentary version where Barbara explains everything in the movie
Exactly
A school bus full of kids could've been coming over that hill. Good riddance, John Norman Howard.
What a rip off. Cut off before the best part. My favorite part of the movie, where the drunken pig gets what's coming to him.
2:43 he committed suicidal.
