Had a couple of goes at this over the last two days. Really struggled to nail the steel-wool distress without it being really slow or cutting through to bare metal. Ended up using acetone on cue tips to get most of it done, which was much faster, but it does gunk up quickly.
Kryptek is my kryptonite... haha. I actually sprayed a project a few weeks ago that turned out pretty cool and will be featured in a video soon! - Luke
Theres no way to tell from here but I'd say an OMTech Fiber Laser of some type by looking at the base but a lot of fiber lasers have bases like that. You gotta do your research when it comes to lasers and it took me weeks to definitively decide on one but if you want to engrave metal a lot then a OMTech MOPA Fiber Laser in the 30w+ range would be my go to but they're at least $3,000-$6,000. It's hard to get lasers that can truly engrave metal and if you find one for cheap then look up videos of it engraving metal because 90% of them that are under $1,500 can't do metal at all but still say that they can because they can occasionally mark it but rarely and its not true engraving because some rough scratches and the engraving is gone
How heavy of a coat do you do after you apply the stencils? If I have a camo pattern how would I avoid a super thick finish if I had to apply 3 layers of stencils?
I'm a Gunsmith myself and I do Cerakote as well. And I have to say you did a great job brother!
Brother, that's pure art! Thanks for sharing your work! Also love the fact that you carry your EDC the whole time, just like you should!
Thanks dude! I always carry and feel naked without it.
Impressive attention to detail. Looks beautiful.

Great video. All are very informative. Are you going to do a kryptex video?

At the very beginning of the video, what laser are you using?

Is that regular painters tape? Does it hold up to the oven heat? And does it leave any kind of residue on the parts when removed?
I use 3M or Frog tape for some things. I pull the tape after 15 minutes in the oven to avoid adheisive residue.

Just enough to get the color on there. Typically, if you cover the color of the stencil material, you are spraying too thick and you will get lines.
How long did you bake before removing star stickers?
7 min at 300 for a flash cure
15 minuters at 180.
