What’s even better is we get people buying both to see which is better and people all the time will say the more expensive one works better for them. They’re the exact same thing. We didn’t even realize 2 products were exactly the same until we dug into it and then when we discontinued one of them people complained. All of our customers in Korea will only buy the more expensive one because they think it’s better and our sales team has convinced them of that because they get higher commission. The company sells Costco one item in one package and "sells" her the same/comparable item in a different package and name. She can then sell it to her customers.

It’s not just food packaging. My company sells two identical products like same manufacturer, same packaging, same everything but different description and one costs 2X more. What’s even better is we get people buying both to see which is better and people all the time will say the more expensive one works better for them. They’re the exact same thing. We didn’t even realize 2 products were exactly the same until we dug into it and then when we discontinued one of them people complained. All of our customers in Korea will only buy the more expensive one because they think it’s better and our sales team has convinced them of that because they get higher commission. It’s bonkers how much stuff is identical with a different name.
