Hi Annie! I've been trying to search everywhereeeee online for Vietnamese shows with BOTH Vietnamese and English subs. It just helps me learn a lot better with reading, writing, and understanding. MRKLBS actually this is standard vietnamese in the video. It sound much more clearly and foreigners gonna study that usually. In the first video that vietnamese is a dialect from the south.
Annie, this is fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I have a question regarding music. How do tonal languages handle music? Wouldn't the music force you to change the tones? I'm sorry, I know nothing about tonal languages. Thank you again!
I used to wonder about this too, like when people are angry wouldn't the increased pitch throw off the tones? I think its all relative to the other words? Like if they all increase in pitch a little but are still noticeably different from word to word... I could be wrong though.
My understanding of what happens is that the words are written to fit the music. Like higher tones for higher pitches, and lower tones for lower pitches. You can see the Vietnamese version of Elsa's "Let It Go", and see the Viet lyrics. The words generally follow the melody.
David Borboa Each tonal languages handle music in different ways. For example, tones are followed properly in Vietnamese singing while they are mostly ignored in Mandarin Chinese singing. www.quora.com/How-do-people-sing-in-a-tonal-language
Hello~ Now I start to learn Vietnamese using your utube videos. and I wanna know your Facebook page for studying Vietnamese~ How can I find you on the Facebook??
The English subtitles are faint and partially hidden behind the Vietnamese subtitles, which is frustrating because I'd really like to be able to see both, if possible. Overall it's a distraction from appreciating the movie itself.
