UK is usually gloomy and unpleasant in winter time. I really don't know how the homeless people can stay on streets day and night in such a freezing weather. So I love to go to China where is always clean and tidy, less crimes, safe.
UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer was just in China to meet with the Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng to restart economic and financial talks after a six-year hiatus as the U.K.’s Labour government seeks to reset strained ties with China. One outcome of this trip is that China has committed to investing £600 million in the UK as a start and that will lead to future investments from China. With Trump threatening tariffs on goods from the UK and EU countries, the move to improve trade ties with China is very timely. This trip to China faced significant headwinds from the UK political circles as the UK is currently in a massive economic crisis with cost of borrowing in the UK hitting a 16-year high thereby increasing the cost of interest on UK debt and making it much more difficult for the Labour government to implement its fiscal policy to turn the UK economy around.
It seems China has not learnt its lessons from the anti-China hostilities shown by the previous government. While the present government may be conducive to investments from China, there is no guarantee it will stay in power for a long time. The reason UK's chancellor is in China is because UK's economy is in serious trouble, not because she wanted to make friends with China. Also, UK's mainstream media are all anti-China.
Could the UK imagine what the US would do to it if it has backstabbed the US like the UK has backstabbed China? Half of the UK would be flattened to the ground with guys like Trump laughing their a$$es off!
Culture shock from your own country 😂😂😂😂 I grew up in the UK and it’s still a culture shock whenever I step outside, especially in London. the underground being so well known, the oldest one or whatever, but clearly they don’t care about it at all and have no respect for it because they don’t bother to improve it at all, like at least get some air conditioning and air filters?!? I remember reading somewhere the air has so much iron hence the black shit u get in your nose, so an air filter using magnets would be useful, well where is it??? These western countries demonising china because they are scared of their advancements to brainwash the people into thinking that their country going backwards is the correct direction. Means maybe they’re also trying to gaslight them into thinking that they are trying to preserve history by keeping their underground looking like the sewers
Yes, the government spent most of the money on wars and on “Contain China’s rise” instead of on infrastructures and on helping the poverty-stricken people!
Jason, thank you very much for this video which I have already featured in a number of my post to educate Westerners about the REAL China. Your video, this one in particular, really did an amazing work in giving your firsthand perspective and experiences of living in China vs the UK. Matter of fact, I have also sent your video to my Brits brother-in-law (a typical Cornish) and my niece (Brits-American) who has an honest-to-goodness Scottish husband with a twentyish-something son whom I hope to persuade to go live in China someday. Cheers and all the best Mate!
During my recent visit to London, I was struck by the warm-heartedness of the people I encountered, particularly the station staff. I interacted with around 30 staff members, and only one responded impatiently; the rest were exceptionally helpful. This friendliness contributed to an overall impression of a relatively relaxed atmosphere. However, London also felt rather chaotic to me. Cars and pedestrians moved disorderly, traffic lights seemed almost decorative, and people crossed streets as they pleased. The city's cleanliness left much to be desired. The streets were littered with garbage, and even prominent areas like Buckingham Palace’s lawn had overflowing piles of trash that no one seemed to be managing. Homeless individuals sleeping on the ground at stations further highlighted the visible social issues. Near Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, I witnessed a public demonstration, which was an eye-opening experience. The police calmly maintained order, while onlookers appeared unfazed, recording videos and live-streaming the event as casual spectators. The subway system, while extensive, appeared dated and cramped. It was difficult to imagine tall, robust British people fitting into the narrow carriages. The seats looked neglected-patting them would raise a layer of dust, indicating a lack of maintenance. The railway network around London was well-developed, though frequent delays were a drawback. Still, the overall experience was acceptable. However, the fares for the London Underground and local railways were extremely expensive. I could hardly imagine how local people manage to survive under such conditions. The high cost of living was a noticeable challenge, but the food-aside from the infamous fish and chips-was generally decent. I even tried fish and chips at a renowned local restaurant but found the dish underwhelming. Hotel accommodations, not just in London but across Europe, seemed subpar compared to those in China, with living conditions that felt outdated. Infrastructure development in the city wasn’t particularly extensive, though some ongoing projects were visible. Speaking with locals, I sensed a shared concern about the economy, with many lamenting its downturn in recent years. In contrast, the natural environment stood out as a positive aspect, especially in Scotland. The scenic beauty was breathtaking, although the weather, particularly the winter rain, took some getting used to. Despite the challenges, the trip provided a fascinating glimpse into the blend of history, culture, and modern issues faced by the region.
Normally for US$400/night you can only get a room in a 3 Stars hotel in most countries of Europe. The problem is alots of these hotels are without air-conditional😭😭😭
The London Underground station where you filmed the steps and lift I believe is where they filmed ‘American Werewolf in London’ don’t tell little Lincoln that!
Love your sarcasm but to be real, hope you won't meet any antagonist there that has seen any of your videos. Remember you are back in europe! Stay safe!
I have studied in the UK 47 years ago and i am shocked at the state what this country has become. It is all because of the political idealism that takes priority above the people 's prosperity and peace. If "moral standard" is gone through lies, deceptions and warmongering the whole country too will decline.
I agree China is amazing, having spent 2 months in Shanghai, and I haven't lived in the UK for a long time but am scared to visit even...we have a good life in Switzerland and I got an EU passport so am safe...
I went to UK last March and it didn’t look too bad. I took the Heathrow express almost got stolen by someone in Paddington. But the express train was comfortable. Been to the Natural History Museum as well. Everything was all good saw the Vault of all the gems. Even watched a football game although Fulham station was closed after the game had to walk to the next station. Lovely afternoon walking in the rich area. Took the train from St Pancras up North. Didn’t eat at expensive restaurant but got some snacks.😅
I’ve also been to UK too, many years ago. That was before the pandemic. It was good all the time. But then, after the pandemic things getting worse. Homeless were increasing, and there’s more and more rubbish all over the town. I learned that the government of the United Kingdom is also manipulated by the United States, after the US took over the position of the British empire. it is almost the same thing that we see in the US. so this is how warlike country looks like. The closer the collapse of an empire, the crazier its laws are.
Exactly how I felt coming back to Chicago from China last week. In China, most everyone was driving an EV and there were hardly any gas stations. In the US, everyone is haggling over gas prices. In China, the subways are clean, safe, and transport people in bullet trains. In Chicago, the subways are filthy, rickety, and you're lucky if you don't catch a bullet.
Great video, as always! I suggest visiting Moscow in the summer. Of course, it is impossible to compare it with China. But, there is much more order in Moscow than in Istanbul and London.
The Chinese can build London a brand new metro network. It would cost less than half an aircraft carrier which they are never going to use and if it does, will be destroyed by 1000 cheap drones.
My first time visiting London was about 25 years ago. My impression about UK then was “every inch of the country was properly taken care of”. The high way from Heathrow to Birmingham really shocked me. That was my first impression of a developed country.
The only two British food I liked and still missed are jacket photos and fish and chips. By the look of it, the prices for these two food are a few times more expensive now.
Yeah. Things look like that you bought a Mercedes Benz in 2000 and you are still driving it in 2025 and feel amazed that its noisy roaring combustion engine can still work. 😂
@@catinbootsnow4267 But if you have good people to look after the old car, it will still run for another 20 years or even longer. Just feel UK has no people to give a F to anything. Sad.
I travelled extensively in the UK in May and June of 24.I absolutely agree with everything you have said here.Imagine the shock of my life when I saw the state of disrepair on the underground.I could not help but compare it with the ultra modern metro rail we have here in Bangalore. The garbage littered everywhere was also a shock even though my city is also pretty bad.
In NY if you sleep on a train someone might set your clothes on fire. And that's with dozens of New Yorkers watching close by and get this....a policeman too.
You could claim the damaged luggage case with the airport at arrival after getting your luggage case and discovered its damage, normally the airport compensates for the damage up to a certain amount.
Thanks for letting us know about this! As I too have had my locks on my luggages cut off and my beautiful shirts and other souvenirs stolen in a US airport after returning from China!
The problem with places like London or UK in general & NYC in USA in general was their city & their infrastructure was once great & the best in the world. However, they did not keep updating the best & it has deteriorated over time.
Yes, those governments spent most of the money on wars and on “Containing China’s rise” instead of on infrastructures and on helping the poverty-stricken people!

Reverse cultural shock
i really dont like the public transport in uk
Thank God, for Lincoln, to keep you, from feeling depressed!!!😊
Jason in the United States =best blog ever
Government spent too much money and time on foreign affairs and neglect domestic improvement and development.
林肯回家啦,一路顺风,在英国好好休息
Normally for US$400/night you can only get a room in a 3 Stars hotel in most countries of Europe. The problem is alots of these hotels are without air-conditional😭😭😭
Last July in Switzerland the host brought an electric fan to my room. It was so kind of her. 😊
@@catinbootsnow4267 still sad they can't install proper A/C
What would you expect. It's Londonstan 😅up here in Yorkshire fish and chips with a coffee is about £10 and you'll probably get twice as much 😅
this is a release, still affordable. hotel fee and tips 13% in London are too expensive.
holiday inn looks a 3-star hotel, very basic facility , 300 quids a night. this is too much.
But it’s not the “…stan” that destroyed London. It’s the usual original folks 😂
You do know Westminster runs UK not the people
You meant Pakistanis have destroyed London?
It’s good to see you again jason brother god bless You and bless Your family 😊❤
Left 9 years ago. The streets seem to have gotten even dirtier.
Stay safe!
I am so bloody shock. I was there there from 1976 to 1979 and is so much cleaner that what I see from your video. I am SHOCKED, just like you.
Carefull mate, current PM are losing his mind, he can arrest the wind if he feel wind is guilty😅😅
這個城市破,舊,髒,最噁心的是滿地口香糖污漬,跟吐痰沒有區別
在新加坡卖口香糖会坐牢的
Ha ha, Singapore ban chewing gum under LKY era.
Worse than spitting! At least with spits they wash away after a rain!
You are a star Jason - Lincoln even bigger...LOL
Gosh, this whole grey and scene is why Suede wrote all these depressing songs.
CNN says London is no.1 of the world’s most lovable cities for 2025.
😝😂 It doesn’t surprise me coming from the fake news CNN!
😂😂😂😂😂
Now staying in Sheraton hotel in Shenzhen for RMB700. 1 Queen size bed.
You forgot that some Hong Kong people said that London is their haven...
Thanks for the info.
On the bright side, at least you can walk around taking videos without having your phone snatched.
Be content, young man~
哈哈哈哈
you returned after 13 years, we have had a massive inflation in the meantime so don't be surprised to pay £300 for night in a hotel 😂
Sad.
The richest city and the most expensive too.
Merry Christmas and happy new year...
Lincoln is so cute. And that quip about Keir Starmer stealing the sun.. Lol
Thanks for sharing, lovely!
Everything are out of service or closed in the UK. That’s crazy! 😂
Not just UK, really. France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands... Increasing filth, graffiti and homeless.
现在还记得林肯出生的时候你们在医院的视频,一转眼林肯已经是一个可爱的小伙了
In NY if you sleep on a train someone might set your clothes on fire. And that's with dozens of New Yorkers watching close by and get this....a policeman too.
You only go to NYC subway if you are legit suicidal.
you should have mentioned that ticket by train first class from Beijing to Shanghai is about 160 British pound.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, you motive you motive me a lot
You should visit Paris, such a beautiful city, with streets so dirty! Pity.
林肯好搞笑 哈哈
The problem with places like London or UK in general & NYC in USA in general was their city & their infrastructure was once great & the best in the world. However, they did not keep updating the best & it has deteriorated over time.
All $ saved by the nation has gone into the profits racketting pockets
Yes, those governments spent most of the money on wars and on “Containing China’s rise” instead of on infrastructures and on helping the poverty-stricken people!
The Piccadilly line is due for a train upgrade in 1-2yrs time.... Yet...Britain is broken.
wow the streets and infrastructure ......
Love from China
THE Paris Subway is even worse
Happy new year to all your family and all of us 🙂
London tunnel has no change in 20 years, or 20 years older, to be more precisely.
Welcome back to the fabled birthplace of modern democracy
Oh my god...... soooo expensive. I am from Malaysia and I am shocked at the prices for everything.
its a mess and filthy in UK.
Idk about the UK but here in Sweden we use phone apps to order train and buss tickets. I havent used cash in like 10+ years. 😁
Jason, mi lad
Thank you very much for this hilarious video.
with Lincoln & mother.
Especially when you asked Lincoln about England:
and he said he want to go back to China.
and the weather:
He shake his his head & said:
some bad guy took the sun away.
hahaha
And most hilarious part is that you said;
It must must Keir Starmer
hahaha
As for the fish & chips,
well I remember in the early 70'
when as a student living in Bayswater, London,
it cost me about 3 quids.
And it was considered as a poor man' meal !!
Anyway, on the scale of one to ten for this video >
a big TEN !!!
Thank you & hope you & family enjoy your time
in good OLD ENGLAND !!
I’m glad you got your pound back, good luck getting your kidney back. They do not ask if you wish to donate it either.
Lincoln is so cute. We would love to see the reactions when your parents meeting him.
I would say: "That is interesting"!
there are still many remote places in China somehow as dirty or filthy as London. However, those places are improving while London is getting worse.
你在用一个发达国家的首都和一个发展中国家的小城市做比较。😅
😂😂😂 three legged case. ❤❤❤ That got me laughing
11:00 in germany its also normal to when you eventually manage to get a train after waiting for 45 minutes after it should have come regularly that by that time the whole platform filled up to the point that the train is just so insanely packed that you will have to take your (slim) backpack off to fit in.
