    I just watched this on 4-2-2023. You speak clearly and patiently, very easy to listen to, the videos are simple to follow. Thank you for that. If I needed your technical skills I would definitely call. LOL, for now I’ll just learn from your excellent videos! But your clients are definitely in good hands.

    Got Acronis V8 deluxe for free on a PC mag years ago and have upgraded it V9 and ran with that till win 7 came about, have upgraded many times since. Great software, be kind of lost without it. I know there are other good software out there but this is flawless. Still use the V9 on machines with Embedded XP. It just works. Have Acronis 21 now and well..... Great.

    Hey Carey great video. I used Acronis after watching your other videos and have successfully cloned 2 disks and upgraded my 2 laptops to SSD. While I was doing my first laptop I kept getting a message stating the software could not unlock the disk and to use linux, I used this option with Acronis and it worked perfectly. Can you do a video talking about this possible issues and using this other option please? I think it may help some folks. Thank you and keep up the great videos. I want to catch you live one evening so I can donate to your channel.

    Question - if the you use a flash drive that is LARGE (128 GB or so) can you put the image on that flash drive? That way it would be easy to plug it into another machine, boot to it, and then transfer that image to the new machine… What do you think?

    • @CareyHolzman
      @CareyHolzman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes. But what I do is make a 2gb partition and use that for the bootable acronis image, and the rest of the flash drive is the second partition for my image files. Then, when a new version or update to acronis comes out, it can format the 2gb bootable partition as required without losing any of my stored images.

    Thanx for that . Another interesting video. I have used a boot DVD in the past to recover a dual boot system of mine when Win 11 goes wrong. Will make a bootable USB version now. Edit. That was an interest exercise. I tried 2 USB sticks one of 8 Gig and one of 32 Gig both formatted as FAT32 as the 2020 version I use does not prompt to format the drive. The 8 gig one boots fine but the 32gig one gives a disk error. Oh well maybe time to upgrade but not to a rental version.

    Hi Carey, I'm a recent subscriber. Great videos! Watching your Mar 2018 vid has inspired me to upgrade my SATA laptop drives using Acronis. I have a question as your technique was to clone to the destination drive on the end of a USB to SATA converter but Acronis advise that the destination drive is installed inside the laptop first to avoid boot issues. What are your thoughts regards that? Cheers.

    Does anybody know why Acronis have stopped selling Perpetual License for their Home Edition product? Everytime I get a message in my inbox, it is about subscription only. Where can I buy a perpetual license. amazon is pretty expensive (about £50 GBP) so this is a non-starter for me because I can use a free version of Macrium that can do almost the same thing as Acronis.
    So who can tell me whether the subscription package can do what Carey has shown here but the bootable drive will still work after one year?
    I don't buy upgrades every year as my machine can last me for more than 5 years so there is no point in buying a product that only caters for new hardware and software. The subscription package is only under £20 (GBP) so I can buy it if I can create a bootable drive that can last me forever!! or nearly forever for practical purposes.
    Thank you.

      Thank you Carey but I live in the UK so the link you've provided is not good for me. The shipping costs and customs duty alone will equal the price of the product.
      Acronis should provide a prominent link on their website where people can buy the products rather than just giving subscription model. Subscription is good for people interested to use their cloud services but some people may not be interested in that.

    I plan to install and register my acronis 2021 on a Windows 10 Pro computer. Will the bootable rescue drive created from this computer work to clone drives on an older Windows 7 Pro machine? Would anybody here tried it? Apperciate your response. Thanks.

    • @Alexoferith
      @Alexoferith 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand why you want to clone drives this way. The bootable rescue USB created will only restore the boot drive. Reading in between the lines, your old Win 7 Pro machine has a boot drive and at least a second drive which I presume is a data drive. If you install Acronis True Image on the Win 7 Pro machine, you can use the software to create a bootable rescue USB stick for this Win 7 Pro machine. And you can use the same software to create a backup image of your data drive or drives.
      If you are looking to "upgrade" the Win 7 Pro machine to Win 10, legally, you cannot. Because, at first, you have to install Win 10 to a system first before you can create a bootable rescue USB stick. The license of the Win 10 is only for ONE machine! In any case, you will have a lot of drivers issues because of the difference in hardware.
      Or if you have installed your software applications on your Win 7 Pro system on the data drive(s) instead of the boot drive, NO, none of the software will NOT work. You will have to reinstall all the software after you have "restored" Win 10 Pro onto this Win 7 Pro machine.
      I have been using Acronis since 2006. I got the free version when I bought a new WD hard drive back then. At the time, it only has cloning functions. It cloned drives so so so easy and smooth. I decided to buy the full version. Then I bought the True Image which has all the backup facilities and naturally, this bootable rescue disc function. So, I just back up all my drives, I have one boot drive and 2 data drives. If anything happens to my boot drive, get a new one. Plug this bootable rescue disk in. Boot up the system with it, the whole thing will be restored within 30 minutes, well, depends on the total size of your original boot drive. I hope this makes sense to you.
