Anyhow, the Acronis utility then found unreadable sectors on a brand new 500gb Sovereca SSD I was diagnosing on my neighbour's brand new "gaming" computer. I thought SSDs were basically immune from bad sector reads, especially if new. They are sending a new SSD but I think this PC may be going back to Amazon.
Such "builds" likely, violate the licenses of most bundled software. Also, some of the apps can be plain cracked. For example, see the watermark at 5:55. Not sure if it is a good idea to advertice such utilities.

This is years ago, the one I had also had all of the Flashdrive makers firmware editing tools, back in the first days of flashdrives the makers would install hidden bloatware that would install on PCs if the flashdrive was left in the drive when booting, & the only way to BURN IT OUT was by using "stolen" copies of their own software. But at the sametime you could remove theirs and install your own, & THAT was the real danger. If you drop a flashdrive in a company parking lot, someone will pick it up, walk inside & plug it into a company PC's USB, 100% of the time. If you're in IT, make sure bootable USB ports are locked down & passworded. Or just make sure your Dad's & Mom's computer is locked down at home.
Linus dropped his video where he covers Medicat as well as a number of other tools. The poor Medicat site is getting CRUSHED and the webmaster is currently at work and can do very little to resolve it.
I have to admit I tend to be a "Nuke it till it glows" tech. I CAN fix stuff, but over the years a a Wipe and reinstall is just so much easier - and faster. No, that is not the professional approach, and we all know that you ALWAYS miss data during the pre-nuke data collection. But unless it's for a special someone, I nuke first, ask questions later. Yes, I know all the reasons and have used all the toys to make systems work again without a reinstall. And when you're 25, thats fun. When you're 50 you can't be arsed with that shit - nuke it, reinstall, done - go see Jill at the pub. And yes, Jill is the one person I would actually take the time to fix her PC correctly... I know HOW to do it... I just can't be bothered...
It's also efficient, when I ran a repair shop , there was a point where it didn't make sense for my guys to spend anymorw time (which is $$$) trying to repair and OS that likely will still have problems. There is a point where the logical fix is to wipe it
It asks so because antivirus and the medicat can clash your antivirus can stop it from working this is why....the whole point off these things is refreshing your computer...your only turning it off for the time your using it then put back on you be fine
@@jshaw4757that's still highly suspicious :/ It has too many "false positives" to install with confidence. The Lock Picker program might attribute to some of the false positives, but what about the rest? They could easily be trying to trick people into thinking its safe to download by having such a vast amount of programs on it with malicious files hidden inside them (e.g. the games, multiple versions of ransomware recovery tools, cracked tools, etc). Once a malicious program is fully installed on your system, your anti-virus is not going to fair well against it. So if it actually does contain something bad, you won't be fine when you reenable your anti-virus. Giving a program free rein to do absolutely anything on your computer (e.g. disguise and embed itself in your registry) is a red flag, let alone multiple programs. Personally, I'm not touching it.
Hey😊 thanks so much for this video, will you be able to make a video of cloning a drive through any of the software in medicat please . 😊 I want ro make a recovery drive, however have never made one.

The better way of doing this is using a tool that is a windowsPE that is actually safe and the name i think it was winbuilder and you cna customize what things to install on that PE
4:05 such invaluable information! 😀
Dont forget the Trinity Rescue Kit ;), not as comprehensive, but very useful if your windows password reset tool doesnt work (for whatever reason) TRK is my backup in that situation
I have my reservations about this tool. The moment the instructions on the Medicat Website ask you to disable your virus scanner "trojan alarms" tiger in my head.
if this is the case u shouldn't trust any source unless u compiled or build it yourself
These are false positives
@@scudsturm1 If it was OpenSource you can see the source code. I am just saying buyer, in this case down loader beware. Plenty of trojans have been downloaded with good intentions. Next to HIRENS, this one seems more perfect.
More malware, more Trojans, and more viruses.
I have my own kit and essentially is just a very lightweight Linux medikit.
Does your kit have some tools like this ? Do you give the link for testing please

This is a good tool and also tutorial man. I used Dban a lot back in the days. I will start using ShredOS to wipe old hds. Thanks!
nice work... kinda reminds me of the old geek squad recovery tool, except it had multiple malware scanners that would run consecutively. perhaps you could implement something like that?
Sergei Stelec is my favorite tool
This looks amazing but maybe too much for most users. First there are too many apps that all do the same thing. It would be useful if you could pick and choose your favorites while installing. Second many of the tools are buried deep inside other tools/apps like those buried inside portable apps in mini windows 10.
You don't install it, it's a live boot environment
SOME OLD TOOLS ARE GOLD
Cool utility. I always back my important files outside of the system on external usb, so my way of fixing my computer is just to reformat my drive and reinstall. But I can see how useful this would be for I.T. professionals.
You better off looking into a full backup solution like Acronis TrueImage, Macrium reflect etc. Way better than reformat and install all over and over again.
@@repairman2be250 both of those are good. Macrium comes with an option for self installation of the software needed bundled with the backup image for portability.
I'll have to give it a try but I remember that often times, a lot of the included utilities wouldn't do that much unless you bought the paid for versions. Some of them just didn't work at all.
Nothing beats Sergei Strelec.
Don't know about that part, but I use it as well. And Strelec is only 4GB of download.
@@repairman2be250 to each there own and just cause it’s only 4gb doesn’t mean it sucks medicat tool has a bunch of garbage baked in that I don’t care for either.
I just built a MediCat USB repair drive on a cheap 30gb drive. It took 3 days for the build and verify to complete on my W11 system. I guess the cheap drive must be appallingly slow but three days seems a bit much.
Afaik all storage media have bad sectors, even new ones.
Such "builds" likely, violate the licenses of most bundled software. Also, some of the apps can be plain cracked. For example, see the watermark at 5:55.
Not sure if it is a good idea to advertice such utilities.
Its already 2023. Many people are into piracy.
8:33 probably to pass the time while other background processes are running.
I personally use sergestrelec, medicat might be a good alternative.
We dont defrag ssds, we TRIM them which pretty much just dumps "deleted" files in an efficient manor. Windows does it by default weekly.
Awesome utility to have. Could you make a video in how to do it from Linux? It starts off on the correct drive but then everything goes somewhere else and not onto the selected drive.
Great video as always, thank you. Can I install this Medicat ON an Yumi multiboot usb pendrive? 😅
bro...did you scan this to see if there were any trojans?
You know this. When something seems too good to be true.
Just got around to viewing this video you did an excellent job. I love Medicat USB has another tool in the toolbox. Thank you!
Can this be put on a small USB SSD? Like a 512 GB m.2 in a USB 3.x case? That would be much faster as well as more durable.
yes
I do this already...if you go to large though you have disk partitioning issues but it still manageable...you just have to tweak ventoy settings first
The issue i was facing was windows ISO didn't boot i tried a bunch of them that they claim are tested but no luck at all .i just add them to ISO directory they start but stuck for ever .

Is there a way to put ISO on it as well. For example a bunch of OS systems to download onto new computers if I wanted to? I use ventoy for that but would love for all these tools and additiona bootable ISO (Windows 10, 11, Linux min etc.)
Just divide the USB into 2 partions i guess? One for this, and one for Ventoy.
How about Ventoy ? Do you have many bootable like winxp, win 7, win 10 and Linux mint? I am looking it too
@@MellowDk I guess thats a good work around.
@@linghuu2023 Right now I have a Ventoy USB with a few operating systems for fun. When i get old computers from work, i have options to run different systems in it. It also has a few recovery tools. But Mediacat seems much better for recovery. I think i will just keep one usb for operating systems and one as recovery.
When he was showing the video, he showed that they were on there.

It's free, but I just find it suspicious that it requires you to turn off your anti-virus to install it..

Bro what 😂
It's also efficient, when I ran a repair shop , there was a point where it didn't make sense for my guys to spend anymorw time (which is $$$) trying to repair and OS that likely will still have problems. There is a point where the logical fix is to wipe it
@@Esphurwhat is this guy on about...

Awesome video! Too bad now there is no ISO to download anymore, and this USB has to be build from a script
At the beginning of the Medicat Installation it tells me to switch off the Windows Defender Antivirus ....
Is it safe to do this ???
Not at all. :)
The "games" made me laugh.
Maybe there's a tech reason for some specific arbitrary issue that needs them, but sticking a few games for the bored admin is awesome.
