  • The Nile has become a political statement as countries across Africa fight for control of it.
Egypt and Sudan depend on the river for their water.
It is fed by the Blue Nile in Ethiopia.
But the Ethiopian government says it needs to use more of the resource to help its people.
For countries downstream, that is a problem.
Al Jazeera's Mohammed Vall has this report from the source of the Blue Nile in Ethiopia.

Do you not fear the biggest military in Africa? I’m not African but it seems kinda dumb to provoke a conflict which you may not win. Even if you won their first air target would probably be the renaissance dam followed by all other dams.

Yasta Ibrahim Germany. What I mean is even if Egypt would win the war if Ethiopia can stop the water flow millions would need to flee from Egypt to survive. Furthermore the war could also result in a stalemate. I support the filling of the dam however I do not want more refugees coming to Europe. Africa is black Europe is white.🤜🏻🤝🤛🏿 for a world where blacks and whites peoples can live without succumbing to racial mixing.

Well, you should know that there is a big relationship between both countries, like Egyptian and Sudanese people are free to travel both countries without visa which is a good thing but South Sudan is a completely different country that was born in 2011 and they are not Arab. Secondly, Ethiopia is blocking the water supply from Egypt and Sudan but not South Sudan. Egypt and Sudan were so concerned about the Dam that they had to make an agreement with Ethiopia as fast as possible. The Colorado River is the source of 4.4 million acre feet (5.4 km3) per year for California.[50] Six other states along the river's watershed (Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona) and Mexico, share allocated portions of river water. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, or MWD, holds priority water rights on the Colorado. It sells water to 95 percent of the South Coast region. Lake Mead, formed by Hoover Dam, is the primary reservoir in the Colorado River basin. The Colorado River Aqueduct begins 155 miles (249 km) downstream from Hoover Dam, and can carry 1.2 million acre feet (1.5 km3) annually.
