I am a Muslim but love learning about Sikhism, it is such a beautiful religion! I have nothing but respect and love for my fellow Sikh brothers and sisters, you have amazing beliefs and a gorgeous culture; I love watching the local Sikh community celebrate their religious festivals. No comparison with any other saint in their time and even before that. The most amazing love that God bestow on people of that time in form of Human form. This is the only organisation with perfect teaching in Indian history.

The Guru Granth Sahib opens with the basic concept of the One Universal, supreme Energy called by so many different names across humanity,.
Ik oankar - One absolute being (God)
Satnam - Eternal truth it's name
    Karta Purkh - Creator
    Nirbau - without fear
    Nirvair - without hate/ enmity
    Akal Murat - Deathless/timeless image
Ajuni - Beyound birth and death
    Saibang - self existant
Gurprasad - known by the Guru's Grace.
This is repeated numerous times and at the start of every section as a constant reminder.

I can't believe how poor the gatka training is starting from 23:28 It's so shockingly awful, I have seen this akhara perform 10 years ago at Brunel Uni and the it is still so bad, especially seeing some of the performers as teachers now. It's such an embarrassment our panth still doesn't know how to do shastarvidiya, and instead we have to show these awful gatka techniques on national BBC TV, any martial expert can tell how bad it is! @basicsofsikhi Basics of Sikhi what should we do with such poor martial arts training in the panth?

Some people who place a lot of emphasis on turbans forget to realise that these are symbols of your faith and not your faith itself.

Ive grown up around alot of sikhs and the one thing i have noticed alot is that they dont really like their sikh names and usually change them to english (western) names, Daljit becomes Dave, Sukhbir becomes Steve. The females again have to put up with the worst name, Kaur.
In punjabi and hindi, the word kaur means leprosy.
As for the name singh, it does not mean lion in any indian language, and definately not in the punjabi language. The word singh means horn in hindi urdu and punjabi. the word sher means lion in punjabi, as in the name sher singh. Need i explain any more after sher singh? Where the lion bit came from regarding the name singh, i dont know.
How can you love your culture and identity when you cant even love and accept your traditional names?
As for being warriors, yes i agree and they are real fearless when facing the enemy. VERY brave warriors.

Turban is not a religious identity but a cultural identity in punjab (infact of whole india)

. But he didn’t explain why a turban is worn? Is it respect to God, so when he looks down, there’s no no top of the heads showing?

So am not sure that I found this insightful at all; this was more about a family journey, which quite frankly was not interesting. If you really want to learn about Sikhism go to Smethwick Gurdwara and you might learn something (and the basics of Sikhi is another great source of reference). Its not just about turbans = I understand that he trying anchor Sikhism to the Turban and simplifying who we are - but anyone who knows our religion knows its more than that !
The way he interjects some of this BS jokes diminishes what could have been a much better historical account of Sikhism, our role and the impact we have had on society, both locally and globally. Lets have a real presenter talk about our religion that provides a much more historical account, on the values of who we are with or without a turban.
