There is something so beautiful and soulful when learning about others and seeing how differently people can do and celebrate - makes for a much more interesting life!
I suspect in our new way of working, our workforce has become much more global with opportunities to walk in various different places for extended times. The future of work is changing in front of our eyes.

Not all of us have the resources to pick up stakes and go walkabout in the name of adventure and expanding our perspective. Most have mortgages, energy and household bills to pay and children to feed, but that's for the idea.
I guess this is where the concept of the commonwealth actually comes in handy. Pretty sure I remember there being good policy for all the countries still technically part of it in terms of being allowed entry/visas into one another
The ideal - as soon as we started going into lock downs I was curious what the shift would be, would be become more understanding or more segregated? I'm not entirely hopeful but I did find comfort in seeing two opposing sides of the political spectrum come together in agreeance, even if what they were agreeing on was detrimental to the majority. .

I'm really curious as to how the eucalyptus trees represent freedom for gold mine workers. I get the association between the trees and the mines but it's not like they could just take the gold out and keep it for themselves is it?
The eucalyptus trees were by far the safest wood to keep the dangerous mine shafts up, due to the way they wind to the top when growing and are stronger. The opportunity to work in mines and earn to provide gave them hope and thus a sense of freedom.
Thank Delilah. Good point. It was actually quite a buzz. More peaceful and busy than I imagined. I slept on someone's floor on a mattress and often went to the local shebeen (bar) for a social, drink and feed. The people were incredibly hospitable and very protective of me. Many families shared a public tap for their only drinking/washing water.
It's okay, our universe has a funny way of balancing things I think. Soon enough the only choice we will have is to be a global citizen, anything less and you won't survive!

Can I ask where your mother tongue is from as dialects certainly differ around the world. I remember when I moved to Australia I had to change the tone of my sentences as in Australia they go up at the end of a sentence making it sound like a question. As I lived in a few different countries, I've taken on language patterns form South Africa, Australia and Germany...
Thanks, @ekimo. It was not as scary as many may imagine. The people I stayed with were incredible and I mostly felt safe. There was an incident one night with some shooting going on, but even then there was a sense of community between everyone in the house.
The beuty of being a global citizen is you do not need to leave your street! The world and other cultures can be explored form your lounge through various differtn ways. Being a gloabl citizen is not as much about travel as it is about, having respect for others through an understadnign of different viewpoints.
In no time at all we will find crossing paths in all cultures

I think it's important for most people nowadays to move towards a 'global' mindset. Local thinking is small thinking.

The beauty of technology is that you can go walk about anywhere in the worls, right from your lounge room or local library.
