I remember being like 13 going to the skatepark and hanging out the older skaters they all smoked weed drank listened to music did crazy tricks and edits had fights it was fucking amazing, I thought I was so cool until they all finished school and never saw them again then realised I was the older kids now and I was chilling and drinking and doing crazy tricks and making edits. Miss those days man
It’s so sad isn’t it, you never realise time passing until you look back
Haha still doing it at 33 😂
@@lewisgray4202 i am speechless man
Parks near me are just full of druggies and drug dealers and there's usually only one guy skating and he usually stoned! Edit: Revisiting this comment 5 years on and I’m not much into skating these days but I can defo appreciate the stoners! 😆 14 year old me just wasn’t quite ready for all that yet. Smoke tf up and thanks for the likes!
exactly the same as me apart from the fact that theres more skaters than druggies. I wish my park was better....
Mine is full of aborginals, fobs (kind of like me, and aussies bogans you know how it is in australia. Queensland bruh
if its still skate-able then fuck em all and ride it anyway. just stay off every ones bad side and skate and you'll be fine
Same here but here you always need to watch your stuff because they will nick it, If you know what a chav is then you know what I'm talking about. They're everywhere.
for me the addicts are skaters, for instance a local skaters nickname is crack head dave, but you just have to make friends. daves a cool guy hes just a heroin addict.
even the dog sounds like its from the uk
Ya know... Ya know... Ya know...
+MrDanielHawes ya know
Documentary summed up: Yeah we used to skate there one time.
StupidMoments 🤣🤣🤣

Southbank is like the love park of the uk

+wayner602 not like the stuff there but what it represents
^tht was not me commenting -wayne ,, it tot makes sense , south bank it the plaza meet up chill all day vibe,, i have not been there or anything but i can just tell
We have a spot like that in Newcastle, too, known as "5 bridges" in a city that pisses down 24/7 though, having a park under a motorway is ideal. Started off as a DIY, too.
The 90's were the best decade for skating.
John S but skating will always be fun
The 90s was the best decade ever
Can’t kick flip in the 90s...
Yes yes yes
@@TheSurrealasm you certainly could
Bristol people be like: you know
Stanstar22 ahah
Lmao
London people be like: أنت تعلم
Skateboarding is the symbol of freedom.
HHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
How can you even say that? Fucking idiot. I can think of better things that could be a symbol of freedom. What part of skateboarding is freedom? You are only allowed to skate in a park and is illegal to skate on the streets incase you damage public property, then when someone tries to move you, you play the victim when you're the one in the wrong
Darryl Pigeon no
Darryl Pigeon because when you skate you feel free
Conor Wood Lol Connor I still have not got your reply :) I only got "no" is that because you've got nothing to say because I put you in the floor :)? lmfao at skaters they're pathetic as fuck
Used to love skateboarding. Getting back into it again, but too many kids in the UK like scooters. I'd look like a tart skating with them.
Conflict TV
For me they crowd the skate parks provided.
Conflict TV skate during the daytime when they're in school.
Yeah, just like them I got priorities during the week as well dude. College and shit. :P
fair man
+Conflict TV Scooters are for people who can't ride skateboards.
drink every time you hear ya know
Haha you're funny . Why drink when you can go on a date and do something nice like eat a pizza
coz he dont have a date?
thznks nows 'm fuking WASSSTTEEEDDdddd!
Hit from the bong every time you hear a word.
Don't say that, this is an articulate, interesting man,
No Danny, i don't know
What about tom penny? How do you look at skateboarding in England during the 90"s without talking to/about Tom Penny?
penny was dope hes a legend!
stuprint182 he also has lived in america for about 15 years :p
thanks for the info.
He's in france now
@@deadweightofficial7078
Geoff Rowley aswell
awesome!! my small mind had no idea y'all shredded so hard in england. big props from the states!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
realy...? we gave you
Tom Penny, brian sumner, Geoff Rowley to name sum
Jason Landers you're right, and those dudes are fuckin awesome. i'm 42 and was more hip to what was happening back in the 80's and early nineties, back then it was mostly american cats. i still skate but i'm using a pool deck, and bombing hills on my longboard. to many injuries to go hard nowadays. but i have mad respect for english pros. just watched a supra tour video with penny reppin hard as fuck.
I remember begging my dad to take me to Brixton skatepark and south bank when i was like 7. God this brings back some memories. Thanks for making this.
Cheers mate
It's shit now, everyone just rides scooters and there is no one good around where i'm from.
Same 4 years later
@@nathantheapeman8261 same 1 week later
@@batcheeboy5077 I fucking feel u bruv
yeh same here, the only people that use the small halfpipe at a park round the corner from my house are annoying 12 - 14 year old kids that ride scooters and think they are so fucking hard.
i feel ya man, fuk scooter kids
i lived in Bristol whilst at uni, and that place is just the best for street skating, like you can just walk randomly around and you'll come across spots you recognise from videos and magazines, rails, stairs, ledges, banks the lot. coming from a small town with maybe 10 skaters in total, the first time i went to big Lloyds one evening just blew my mind. so many skaters, and the average level of tricks was so much higher than i'd ever seen before.
The big three at lloyds! Wicked spot
He said for young people what about us older Skateboarders I'm a 46 year old Street Skateboarder Skateboarding is for all ages if your just starting Skateboarding or getting back into it age doesn't matter it's all about having fun!!!! :-) The latest update on Southbank hasn't it been saved it's not going to be knocked down?!!!! :-)
It's because young people often get moaned at for not doing anything yet when they do something (like skating) it's always shut down or made illegal. I should know being 16.
His voice didn't change once after 20 years...
Why is Paul Alexander not mentioned in this. He was a local Bristol skater..
I’m here in lockdown watching old skate vids 😂
If you skate get @ me on insta @tk_gdna working on a skate doc w a slyly different angle to this,
Skating in the uk is a vibe until you leave London.
If you skate get @ me on insta @tk_gdna working on a skate doc w a slyly different angle to this,
Manchester suburbs needs better skate parks
true
I live in Middleton and I don’t know where any are
"you know"
winston witter, name sounds like he should be on eastenders
Man, I've been riding BMX for years and I've never seen the appeal of skatebording. But fuck this video has opened my eyes! *_*
crazy to see how far ben has gone with his skating career
STOP SAYING 'YOU KNOW' ahh
i noticed that haha
Psychedelic ya know
You know
***** AYYYEEE
illusionary ayy lmao
I'd love if someone counted how many "You know" have been said in this video.
Man, I used to skate Loyds and college green 20 years ago, I remember when Loyds bank ledges were built!
Wales next?
it would be nice if they did something in wales for a change lol. they don't care about small country's like our self's. even tho I'm from england I've been living in wales since I was 3 months old! and I call myself welsh.
+Connor Marston I know but just looking around where I live there is so many spots
+Yellowz yea wales is kind of a mountaines place. but like u said there are some spots.
Man I need people to skate with in Wales
i hate scooters as much as the next guy but that kid at the end could rip lol
i agree with this scooter comment!
i disagree with this scooter comment!
Samuel Williams fair enough haha
Samuel Williams We'll have to agree to disagree with this scooter comment!
I wish I could skate but I'm shit at it. And because I'm shit at it I never go to the skate park to get better because I have anxiety and I'm scared people will judge me and shit.
Just go! Or practice flatground
+A Bowl of Corn Me and my friends aren't good at skating and I have anxiety too. But the skating community is awesome and people aren't very judgemental because everyone starts somewhere. Just start skating and you'll get better!
+Callum Dunne lies, the skating community is EXTREMELY judgemental
Just skate
I don't know what kind of skaters you have over there, but the skating community is NOT judgemental. If they're proper skaters, they'll encourage beginners and even help them out. They've all been there before, so skaters who love skateboarding and respect anyone who tries are the skating community. Not those guys who skate for others, or those who just want to show off
Welcome to London WHERE EVERY 11 YEAR OLD SAYS EVERY CURSE WORD IN EXISTENCE AND SUCKS AT SKATING AND SAY YOU KNOW ehhh about as many times As Kanye west says the word "best"
I skated south bank, shell and the Yellow bricks in the 90’s as a small yout. Huge part of my life at the time and loving memories still now. We used to go down watch Winston, Alex and Curtis amongst others killing it, huge and technical tricks, real inspirations to me and my crew. I get the unpopular thing, when your school mates would they see you on your board dressed in baggy ankle swingers, never got street cred for that but I didn’t give a shite. In the end one by one everyone stopped skating and I was the only one left, used to still hit the bank on my own but wasn’t quite the same buzz. It’s funny how skateboarding is seen as so cool now, I always see skaters everywhere all over london, great to see the movements going strong. I visited south bank just before lockdown with my young daughter, she loved it, still have my board and still take it out now and then outside the house to pop a few easy tricks. Promised her I would take her back down there to show her Dads still cool, even at 45. So if you see an 8yo girl with a hipster nursing a serious head injury, that will be me 😁
I love skating
God I wish I had learnt to skate
Eliza Kate never to late
Never to late bro
You can. Anyone can learn at any age. You just have to start.
I started skateboarding at the age of 121... It's never to late bro, just get out there
This isn't skate world England , this is skate world london...
Do you know where Bath and Bristol are? Idiot.
Skate world Australia!
0:54 YES! that is so true! we had this indoor skatepark on the seafront in my town, it was great for skaters. ugly building but great indoors. it’s been an empty building for quite a while now :\
That black guys hair cut was awesome
Danny Wainwright... you know
I would love to start in london but i'm too scared as I lack in any skill xD
+Anton Markovskis (TGFAnton) I just got a board with no skill what so ever. Just go and train... you might look wierd skating alone but hey, everyone starts somewhere. find a friend who skateboards and let him take you to a skatepark and go try some things out!
Do it mate. I've started in London and I'm awful but I love it. Just skate mate, it's amazing
England's best skate spots.... all in or around London lol
We know, Danny! We know!
How is Nordberg an amateur skater? he is fucking sick
Ah like everything in the past generation, its original meaning was lost when it became mainstream (and profitable).
Ive been to that shop in Bristol. it was so sick. The english skate scene is tight.
Danny Wainwright you know..
Skate world: Northern Ireland, I’d think it’d be pretty interesting for people to see how we have literally nothing especially in the skate community considering you’d have to cross the border into the republic to go to a skate shop as there isn’t a single “proper” skate shop in the entire country (or province if you will)
Skate World: Scotland?
Dave Reed scootlanf
we did all know each other , hence I know more than half the people in this and we live many miles apart , awesome times and small wheels
I want to skateboard but im scared i wont get acecpted by the skaters
Everyone's accepted in the skate world.
No one will judge u for it. It's posers people judge
Alex Hayes you'll be fine
I went to Southbank to skate ( I'm a really bad skater so I wanted to try watch and learn ) I freaked out there was so many good skaters it was scary
Very good video :)
I love skateboarding myself but what really annoys me are them bloody BMX and Scooter users because they always get in the bloody way and its hard not to push the fucker out of the way..... It says "Skatepark" not BMX park or Scooter park :/
I always thought of it as Skateboards LOL
Skateparks are made for bmx’s as well
Harrow was built before there was a bmx bike anywhere in England.
thats shitty! i'm sorry to hear about your skate spots being taken away! SKATEBOARDING IS NOT A CRIME
No fair In england UK bradford THE FLOOR EVERY WHERE IS EITHER FULL OF PITS....OR ROCKY ROUGH GROUND!!!
Ikr whenever I go skating I can barely roll up to a ledge
Anyone scope that 10foot tag in Southbank? Guys a legend
"I don't know if you remember 411" that's something that anyone who was skating in 1990-2005 won't ever forget... I'm from dc and I've always wanted to be in a 411 video...
I literally ate 411 foir breakfast, lunch, and supper...everyday from age 11.....I'm now 30 and I feel privileged to be able to watch any skate video for free now on youtube....back then I would spend my pocket money on 411 videos and get super amped up watching the whole thing before sessions.
i love how the last word on this vid is ''you know?'' so uk!
well, that was two words but ok..
Damn it's the 11th July 2021 and I haven't seen a skater in over 3 years, I actually hate life.
Is Bristol's favourite saying ' you know' ?
It's in London "ya know?"
+Sura Cameronn Haha no its not " Ya know?", I think you need to watch it again...
+hotmonkfish ha I was joking, I only said it like that cuz where I'm from they ya know😂
+Sura Cameronn Holy crap that was bad gramma, what I was meant too say was its pronounced "ya know?" From where I am😂 natural instincts thought its "ya know" now I look like an idiot😁😂

This documentary is very nostalgic and important to the youth of this time, it’s really nice to see what life what like 10 years ago or so when skating was so Alive. I wish the times of now were like this
I'm not a skateboarder but I understand "back in day". Sad indeed but at least you lot have good memories.
I dunno.....
fucking hell he loves the word YOU NO lol haha
The intro is wrong, cause England doesn't belong to europe anymore haha
1. Yes it does, we voted to leave the EU not Europe. 2. We haven't actually left the EU yet.
Nathan Van den Broeck EU and Europe are different things mate
my town in england has a skatepark, but since its also in a playground its just filled with 7 year olds on scooters and bikes 24/7
I hear you . Its a plague . Only way round it is to go when the twats are all asleep . We used to skate our bowl at 8am on Sundays.
Does anyone here skate in Folkstene?
snowman135100 :(
OOOOH look everyone the homeless shitssack is RAGING!!! lol R U MAD BRO?
I didn't mean to make you cry, you'll get a job one day. Hopefully you don't die within the next week.
snowman135100 well.... that escalated quickly
He probaally killed himself
all this looks so good until you add 15 kids on scooters into every shot
i never knew Lennox Lewis was a skater
Do a skate world: Scotland! Huge skate scene in Glasgow.
All the skateparks are full of wannabe road men with blutooth speakers playing drill out load ruining the vibes
Skate when those sad wankers are in bed .
England is one of the worst places to be born a skater. I grew up way up north where the weather is shit all the time, there never used to be any sheltered spots and like 1 ledge outside a bank and few 5 sets. Fast Forward 20 years and there's a lot more for skaters to do all year round the quality of skating in general in the region is way better now.
Honestly man in the early 90's there was fuck-all to skate.
before I learned what punctuation is :D hahahaha.
Yes Danny I fucking know! .. XD
ADORABLE British skate rats! As a Gen-X OG I've raised another generation of skaters with the next on the way! Better than having them out stabbing people, you gotta be fit to skate.
ive lived in London for many years and almost everywhere they went i recognized.
i live in England and london is rough i love our weather not haha
Well, they didnt knock it down, I went there today xD
I’m a 41 year old, and I’m really hoping my son and daughter have the ability to skate in London as I did in the day. But all is being built upon to please the rich and overseas property tycoons.
fuck im so into skaters LMAO
when he says romford, I assume he means rom? that park is sick dude it's 10 minutes away from my house
"dude"?..Not very Romford at all ha.
skateworld: falklands
now thatd be interesting
So, so good. I fucking love English skateboarding
Birmingham's the best place to skate in England.
The kid on the racing bike in full gear I swear 😂😂
I remember back when I used to skate these spots with my boys everyday and get blazed; Good times.
Winston, good skater and a good bloke.
