THATS WHATS UP!!! Daewon Song has been an inspiration in skating all around since I was a kid and I appreciate the chance to be an inspired fan for so long. THANKS DAEWON!!!
I met Daewon at a demo in 94 or 95 and he could not have been nicer. He sat with us and just talked. At the time he was an amazing skater. I had no idea that he would become arguably the best skater ever. I know most people give that credit to Rodney, who was also incredibly nice every time I met him as well as the most innovative, but Daewon transcended to a whole new level.
I love how humble both Rodney & Daewon are. Some people who have skills (in anything, sports, music etc) seem kind of arrogant & full of themselves. But these 2 are genuinely nice & decent people. I admire both of them greatly.

The 90's had it's perks. No one cared about what we did back then except for other skaters. Most the time we were seen as wasting our lives. Now it's a huge industry that is excepted. Crazy ride
I think the concept of a white power ad surrounding minority skaters would be even more successful in today's climate honestly. The irony would be a lot more easily picked up, and they did mention that the ad was controversial in the video. Probably succeeded more off shock factor than positive attitude towards it.

Leave out every racist skater that was big in the 90s, but continue the documentaries.
Kieran Dillon Well late 80s and 90s then. Natas was still active in the 90s. I just love that whole early era of street skating
I would love to see a kirchart doc
@@inafaniel Agreed. Who are we leaving out?
Jason lee
Daewon's syle is effortless. He's so smooth and makes everything look so simple. Like he's not even trying. The man is a legend.
Daewon was my favorite skater growing up. The tables... LEGENDARY. His style was the definition of cool.
talking about the hardflip "i remember everyone in the parking lot, all the blind guys too, they were all trying to figure it out" LOL taken out of context
Shit is crazy, I'm a 41 year old guy getting teary eyed watching a documentary on one of the best skateboarders in the galaxy while listening to another one of the greatest skateboarders in the galaxy pay homage to him while getting teary eyed as well. Now I'm gonna go meet up with some homies to skate. Thank you skateboarding❤
He even inspired us skaters way out in Kenya in the 90's! We were so stoked when the Rodney VS Daewon videos came out and someone managed to get a copy there. The dude is still so sick to watch, I thoroughly enjoyed this!
Grew up loving Daewon/Mullen! They are are the best!
“well... i guess it’s just us”
choked up when rodney said that. a true testament to the legend named daewon.
don’t ever change.
I love Daewon's spirit when he gaps roof to roof. He is a master of obstacles.
This video Literally made my entire shitty week worth living through
Hang in there buddy. Great things are to come!
ZOZO you got this man. When life gets you down toughen up that chin and walk away with your head held high.
Born in 1987. Started skating in 99.
Daewon and Rodney have resonated with me through out my whole adolescence to where im at now as an adult. In a way i felt ive grown with them.
They both hold a strong part in my heart and my skating Journey. Wanna thank both of you all for the the video parts though out the years and my life.
SKATE FOR LIFE!
Rodney and Daewon are some of the most genuine spirits ever and I’m glad they found each other; they're the Jordan and Pippen of skating
After finally getting to watch this today from start to finish I actually got teary eyed, couldn't be a better person. Not to be tha name dropper but years back I spent a week w/Daewon an Jody Morris, skating every day and the old World park at night after jus those 7 days for years after if I saw him he was the nicest most humble dude. Congrats Daewon Song!!
Mullen and song has me in the feels, dang....More respect than what I already have for them
That's that kind of friend everyone wishes they had....."I guess it's just us ..." I felt that cause if anything 🤧 skateboarding makes you feel welcome I was inspired since 9 by Rodney's and felt in love to skateboarding thanks to Daewon!!! Bless him!!!!! And bless you !!! I am 33 and still skating!!!
Daewon is more tech in real life than I can achieve with my imagination
well put
I stopped skating about 9 years ago... Was a massive fan of Daewon when I was a kid. This video has me wanting to get back on a board again.
This video has been perfect during this COVID19. Skate on!
Wow this covid shit has been going for more than 5 months.... Damn, If it goes a year then ill take the conspiracy more serious.
@@dizzychizzy1 and this hoax is still going on..
You are an idiot
Much love to Daewon, one of the best to ever set foot on a board & his humble attitude is something I’ve always admired since I started skating 20 years ago. Thanks for everything brotha, we love you!
I’d love a Marc johnson doc.
petersusia1 MJ could still put out a fully flared part today.
@@capo_di_capi MJ's fully flared is one of the most beautiful parts ever filmed.
Just watch his nine club, its like 3 hours long.
Please do an MJ one. It will be gold
Vice skateboarding Marc johnson did one .
I've watched this video so many times... great job Transworld!
So glad I grew up watching daewon and rodney and all them other 90s skaters.
That was really magnificent. Skateboarding loves Daewon.
He gave me his old skateboard outside of 9-star after a skate demo YEARS ago. Still my favorite skater.
Watching this made me feel like I was back in the nineties! He’s the man! Song vs Mullen will always be one of the greatest vids ever!!!!
Gonz always has the best advice for how to skate... so simple but so true. That Torey tail slide xD Fuck yeah Daewon... legend.
Oh yeah! That tail slide hahaha :D That was gold!!!!
I'm so stoked to have met Daewon at town park.
"daewon, what's up? you're skater of the year!"
"what? are you sure?"
"yeah you want me to give it to Sheckler?"
"no no no no" LMAO
Classic phelper... 💯❤️
He only said "no" once which was actually funnier.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO RE-EDIT THAT TRILOGY PART THE INTENDED SONG
do it for you man, that part is history now. Edited as it was.
Maybe then was an error, now is history.
Which tribe track was it at the premier?
@@dustinstoner6195 i think they meant the tribe track was replaced right before the premier
[AVHD] yeah... a historical error. 🤦🏻♂️
ABSOLUTE LEGEND This Guy. Everyday is Daewon to keep advancing.
Thanks Transworld & thank you Daewon. Your physical mag may be gone, but I'm glad your still putting out gems like this.
"Guess it's just us Rod"
Crazy, man. Great documentary.
22:50
"I think they should do more of that"
C'mon guys, Rodney vs. Daewon round 4! Gonz says so!
Wouldn't be an Almost video though... however they could do Almost Vs Thank You - Round 1
I love how humble both Rodney & Daewon are. Some people who have skills (in anything, sports, music etc) seem kind of arrogant & full of themselves. But these 2 are genuinely nice & decent people. I admire both of them greatly.
Legendary. Thank you Transworld.....thank you Daewon!
i never skated much, but have always appreciated the art.. this doc was super inspirational... the ending is mad vibessssssssssssss, very emotional and uplifting at the same time
Aloha Daewon, I love you and your skateboarding. It is a GodSending Creation. Keep it up. I am 65 year old woman who just bought me a second hand longboard to try today. What an inspiration you are! Love you. Take care. 💕💕💕💕
Rodney says it all: "yeah I get choked up because there's no one I'm more proud to be associated with".
And I get choked up now.
Dae changed my perspective on tricks and certain spots and millions of more youngins worldwide he definitely needs a damn Oscar or a lifetime achievement 😭 A Real Leader and shot caller period 💯 You lil boys better up on game literally
At a time where very few things in the world move me, I came back to this and shed a few tears. Thank you.
Daniel Castillo is so funny man XDD "He can get a cover with skating a leaf" I died right there
He cracked me up throughout this thing. I wanted the video to cut over to him more. Some good Daniel Castillo moments:
6:18 Kareem said he was black. D'won.
7:49 Shiloh was supposed to be there. Kareem didn't call him.
16:34
27:33
30:12
34:56
39:50
Thank you TWS for making this and putting it up on youtube!
And thank you Rodney for being the purest soul in the world!
Daewon and Rodney are the most genuine kind hearted people I’ve ever watched. Amazing documentary.
utmost respect for how much he has contributed to skateboarding.Daewon is like one of the best out there,a really unique guy
I remember seeing Daewon’s parts play on the Zumiez TV when I was in middle and just freaking out. A absolute legend. Thank you for your contribution Daewon
Sucks we live in a world people would give this a thumbs down. Thank you for making this loved it made me think of the good old days ...
i think we can all find a piece of ourselves in this legend.
Ha that white power ad was a clever idea. Not sure it would fly today
The 90's had it's perks. No one cared about what we did back then except for other skaters. Most the time we were seen as wasting our lives. Now it's a huge industry that is excepted. Crazy ride
Yeah it wouldn’t but I’d still do it! Because it would be real deal attention to whatever your speaking on. But I wouldn’t use it lightly at all.
@Mike Studmuffin thats not how that went at all.
I think the concept of a white power ad surrounding minority skaters would be even more successful in today's climate honestly. The irony would be a lot more easily picked up, and they did mention that the ad was controversial in the video. Probably succeeded more off shock factor than positive attitude towards it.
different times different vibes, the 90's was "the end of history"
everyone was in some delusional bubble after the fall of the soviet union until 9/11
One of the best docs ever
Rodney: “just like I invented *some* flat ground tricks- whatever.”
it’s pretty whatever
Go to heck butters
Two best skaters:
Daewon - Goofy
Rodney - Regular
@Brick Schitthouse
sorry, I noticed that now, Rodney Mullen doesn't really have a posture !!! Well remembered...
@Brick Schitthouse show, my dream!!!
SUPREME GAMEPLAYS.. don’t forget the other master ‘ Chris Haslam ‘
@@TheGloryHole16 woooooooow!!! Chris Haslam is other myth of skate!!!
Update 3 best skaters:
Chris Haslam, Daewon Song and Rodney Mullen.
Rodney and deawon are a prime example of what skateboarding is all about. just enjoying it with people you love and pushing yourself and each other. I'm lucky to have grown uo watching these guys skate and progress. I remember going to blockbuster as a kid and getting the 411vm tapes and all the other videos my parents would get me.
This is so so good. Thank you Daewon, and thank you transworld for making this and uploading after premier.
Love this... his skate compilation at the end really hit me in the feels man!
You have been such an inspiration to my son. Thank you for all you have done for him. And it's an honor to have both of you the founders of ThankYouSkate.
I wonder if he keeps his front truck at the front when he skates switch?
