  • This video is intended to be a rough guide to help out anyone who is having trouble picking up wins on deity. I follow this strategy in pretty much every game I play. I try to cover the tech tree and why I build cities where I do and what I have them do. I hope this helps! Leave comments and let me know what I should explain better. I do plan on making a full on guide at some point.

    Thank you so much. Things I learned, 1 you can sell units, 2 build libraries, 3 use cities as singular production facilities, 4 utilize custom resource management and a.i. cheats... Very very helpful, had this game for years and I was always doing poorly.

    Been playing this game easily over 10 years and that gold city strat is a godsend. Plus all this time i never knew you could sell units. Great video

      I appreciate it, man. It took me a long time to figure out the gold city strat. Pretty gross with the Romans having immediate access to trading posts and being able to build the World Trade Fair at half price.

      Glad I’m not the only one still playing. Also learned you can sell units about a week ago. Used to send them to their death to satisfy my ocd lol

    Yo dude thanks for the guide. I love your vids but the strategy was sometimes lost on me. Getting wins on those harder difficulties can suck because of the RNG 😅

    As soon as I saw you switch to food after the warriors I knew I’d smoke you in this game lol. Could’ve had horse army and that Egyptian capital by 3000 bc

    I will say that was crazy to see Washington and Paris that close, I've never seen the AI settle that close with their capitals.
    I'm wondering if both settled first turn or if they can move their settlers, I always thought the AI settled in first turn.

    • @Adrian_96
      @Adrian_96 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think that’s as close as you’ll see the AI’s capitals. Four turns is probably the limit - any closer an it’d be *possible* (though extremely rare) for Americans and Zulus to capture enemy settlers first turn. Cannot say for sure, but 99% sure that the AI will never move from the initial location.

      I’m kinda thinking what Adrian is. But I can say in the literal hundreds (if not thousands) of playthroughs I’ve had I don’t remember them ever being so close to each other. So weird!

    I have noticed I tend to start off from a military standpoint and build a lot of warriors and forget to swap if back to food

    • @tywrex3044
      @tywrex3044  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try to follow my early game strategy. Crank out the warriors. Send them out to get your 100 gold for free settlers. As soon as you have that 100 and your settlers, pay for a library in your capital (it’ll unlock by 2200 bc if you follow my strat). Set you capital (should be population 4 by 2100bc) to 2 production, 1 food, and 1 science. Set it to start building a wonder or something expensive. Research pottery as your second tech. As soon as thats complete swap you capitol to work on the Hanging Gardens (we want it to build up production and transfer that over to the gardens). When your second city gets to population 3, pay for settlers and build your defense/blocker city. After Hanging Gardens completes in your capitol start building Colossus. If the tech isn’t unlocked yet just start building another wonder until it unlocks and then swap it to Colossus. I never research bronze working or horse back riding. I get those techs from tech jumping. Follow my tech tree the way I unlock things and that should help quite a bit!

    Im sorry I kno I'm asking a lot of questions I havnt owned this game long and I love it from the strategy standpoint no lie but anyways
    Is it good to keep cities close or far apart

    • @tywrex3044
      @tywrex3044  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries, brother! Ask away! I like to keep my cities at least 3-4 squares apart. The reason being that I want them to be able to maximize their working area when you build a courthouse. When I build cities I always try to look at what special resources they will have immediate access to and what they can access after building a courthouse. Some will be better than others but after your defense city is built you can start building specialty cities on islands or well defended areas that focus on science or gold, and population growth. I usually have a 4 city minimum but more is always better if you can manage it!

  • @brandonmohr6252

    So does it matter where I start a city or town or no
    I been told both that it does and doesn't and I've noticed I bounce back and forth between more production and food and science quit a bit

    • @tywrex3044
      @tywrex3044  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it does! Specialty resources are a huge thing in this game. I always try yo make sure my cities have access to a couple different special resources if I can help it. I usually try to make sure all my cities have access to at least 2 good food squares (squares with +2 food or more), 2 good science squares, and 2 good production squares (not hills or mountains because they require buildings to use effectively). But your defense city needs food and production, science/gold do not matter at all for that city. Because civs have different perks some of these things can change a bit but thats my basic strategy for city building. This is some pretty advanced strategy stuff too so if it doesn’t work out, don’t worry. Thats totally normal for the Rev 🤣
