Thank you for the comparison video. I love practical, understated totes. I am not so much into logos when it comes to big bags due to safety concerns. Hope you and your baby are doing well. I’ve been wanting the Madewell MediumTransport Tote/Crossbody for years. I recently found out about the Portland Leather Goods Medium Tote/Crossbody one. I’m on the fence between them. I’m also torn between zippered and unzipped. I really love love love the slouchy look. Not sure which one would give me that.
Hi! I have not heard of Portland Leather Goods before so I had to go check them out 👀 I do love their leather but it looks like their leather is quite thicker than Madewell 🤔 it’s hard to decide since I have not seen the PLG handbags in real life but if you are picking between the zippered and unzipped transport totes I personally prefer the unzipped ones just because it’s so much easier to access your belongings and I think the slouch would look better over time. I hope you find the bag you love whether that’s from PLG or Madewell 😊
Ok, I have tried all these bags and it’s just preference and depends what you are looking for. The Portland Leather goods pebbled leather will be slouchy fastest if you want a slouchy bag. Compared to the madewell bag I found them slightly narrower and I couldn’t hold as much which was disappointing. But they are both lovely. The medium crossbody PLG was basically the same size base as the regular crossbody, just shorter in height, it just looked awkward on me. I ended up selling all but one of my PLG because I never reached for them but some people are crazy about them. The leather can be really nice, it is thicker than madewell, but that also means heavier, the tote I kept in honey is lovely and so pretty, but it’s pretty structured. I found PLG quality control very lacking and the colors can vary a lot. Their return policy is a pain, and you end up paying your own shipping back. If you go that direction I recommend getting something preloved or from a BST group. I think madewell looks a bit more polished overall, and PLG more rustic. Madewell also has a great return policy which is very easy to use. As far as zipper or no, it adds security, but it also adds a lot of weight and I find myself reaching for my bags without because they don’t weigh me down as much. The zippered totes tend to hold their structure longer as well. Madewell will get slouchier as it breaks in, and if more structure is your things getting an organizer makes a big difference.

Hi! I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the comparison video 😊 unfortunately the big size doesn’t have places where you could put a crossbody strap. I do think the shoulder straps are comfortable enough where you wouldn’t need a crossbody strap. Hope this helps!
