I have the Transport Tote as my work bag and I carry my laptop back and forth everyday. I've had the bag since June and haven't had any issues with the handles. Just for reference, I have a Lenovo ThinkPad and it's fairly light. I generally have a full water bottle in it and I've also used it to carry my personal laptop (MacBook Pro) and haven't had any issues. :-)
My Madewell Transport tote has carried a 15" Retina MacBook Pro for 2 years and I haven't noticed any issues or wear. In fact, it still looks beautiful! I even use a padded slim laptop sleeve for added protection and can still fit everything I need in the bag. I've used the Madewell Transport Tote since your "What's in my bag" video a coupe years(?!) ago. Like you, I was on the hunt for a beautiful bag that can be used for work. The moment I saw your video I know it was the one. I love the simplicity and find it works well with every outfit. Thanks again! I love your videos. 😊
They all look very simple yet chic at the same time. Definitely seem like you could use anyone of them with what you are wearing without clashing. I to have a tendency to over pack my bags because they can fit so much. Just never know what I might need. ❤

I have the Transport Satchel, in True Black with English saddle handles, the older Bucket bag with the drawstring and leather handle in English Saddle, several post earrings ( after seeing them on your channel) a couple of necklaces that I found on sale and a few tops that were also on sale. Oh yeah, I also have the crisscross sandals in English saddle. And all of this began with seeing it on your channel Ashley ! lol
Wow! This is such a great, in-depth comparison. Madewell makes the best bags and shoes. I haven't bit the bullet with shoes yet, but I bought the transport crossbody, in large part, because of you! I really want the other two sizes you have as well, haha! One day (: They're a great investment!

I love the transport tote and I have to agree that a laptop fits but is too heavy for the straps. The English saddle colour is beautiful and does go with so much. The mini crossbody is tempting.....

I recently ordered the crossbody style during the 30% off sale, but I couldn't tell how big/small it was on the mannequin in the photo on Madewell's site. Well, it arrived and was way too small for my needs. Next time the sale comes around I'm getting the satchel. I guess I could've just checked the dimensions in the description. I have truly beat the crap out of the original Madewell Transport Tote. I carry my 13" work laptop in it and use it as my work bag... mostly. 8 months strong and no issues. I have to carry a lot stuff for work, like scales, thermometers, notebooks, and other office-y shhhhhtuff (I work for the corporate office of a large coffee chain and travel to stores often). No signs or any damage. LOVE MADEWELL BAGS!!
I use the Satchel as my daily commuting bag and it's really perfect for it. I'm so glad to see that they reinforced the satchel's carry-strap--I got the satchel when it first came out, and it's a little too flimsy for me to functionally carry it on the long strap. I was thinking about getting the Tote, but I think when my bag wears out, I'm going to stick with the satchel! Thanks for helping me decide :)

I know you get this a lot, but your videos are so well made and organized...The way they are edited and the way your personality reflects on camera is just such a pleasure to watch. This is my favorite channel by far, it's just so genuine, I feel like friends! I trust your opinion and would love to know if you plan on doing any favorite fall/early winter lip favorites? I have been really into matte liquid/creme lipsticks but I also have the dry lip problem ocassionally. I only use the Madewell bags as purses (this video was just to contrast them and give ideas on how to use them). The Dagne Dover is my sole work bag - I love it! : ) I carry all my work gear in the DD and my purse/personal items in one of the Madewell bags to work each day.

Hi, Melissa! The first crossbody I had was the older strap design that was defective. It was pretty annoying. I can't tell you how many times I was walking around, the strap came undone, and my bag fell to the floor. 😣 Happily, they fixed the issue. Also, the leather on the newer version feels stiffer (my old one wouldn't really stand up straight on its own, but I did like how soft it was).

I have a 9.5" x 12.5" document envelope that fits in the satchel. I just tried my 13" laptop. You have to tilt it to get it through the opening, but it does fit (just not a ton of extra space once it's in).
Did you quit using the Dagne Dover bag? I think the DD tote is so much more practical than the Madewell totes and the Dagne Dover bags look more professional.
I personally only use the Madewell bags as purses. I was just giving ideas on how much each bag can hold. I carry the Dagne Dover and one of the Madewell ones each day to work. I have the satchel, and I love it! Because it does conform to your body, it does not feel as heavy as other bags.
I've had my Transport Satchel for almost 3 years now. It's very slouchy now, but the leather still looks great. I didn't baby that bag at all either!
