I think part of the problem is both sexes need to realize times have changed. Women definitely need to respect men, and men need to understand housework is boring and share the work. Many women love having a job, as well as a family, and both should be workable. Men should work as a team with their women, and assist in the drudgery of housework, and that would help with the women just feel like they're a married single women. I know so many women who do it all - they work, do all the grocery shopping, all the cooking, clean up, housework, and most of the childcare. No one likes being treated like a maid. Men feel like they are only valued for their money, but should feel valued for what they bring into a home. They should be supported, and not just be a work drone. Working as a team, for the benefit for the family, and respect individual needs is the way to go.

Field work wasn't just men's work then, it was all hands on deck to get the job done. And my grandfather would help with the canning. They worked together, did what needed to be done, but just didn't make a big deal of it.
