It *IS* the most beautiful BMW on sale currently. Every other one is quite ugly by comparison.

S65 better luxury, m8 better performance like most benz/bmw comparisons.
It just would have been them being overly annoyed (rightfully so) with the C63 Coupe being a 4 banger.

I’ve had a 2019 m850i, 2020 M8 comp, and now a 2023 M8 comp with every option. It’s an amazing car.
I had a 22, but traded it in on my M5 Comp. I do miss it tho.
How would you compare the 2020 M8 Comp vs your 2023? Curious to know, I’ll be in the market for a larger coupe soon.
@@djivan831 softer, better exhaust with more pops and bangs. Also the bigger screen. Feels more solid too. Easier ride. The exhaust system is new-BMW said nothing about that but it’s noticeable.

I did see the unveiling of the new 2025 Vantage and was blown away. 260k is a lot for that car. Will most likely be my next if BMW can’t get their act together for another big coupe, it was absolutely gorgeous. Hated the old vantage. New one is incredible.

I absolutely love the sleek, agressive look of the M8. Especially when its in black with all the carbon fiber bits. 🔥🔥
The trouble with the m8 was not the car. The trouble was that it was mostly a slightly upgraded m6, that was later called m8 and thus had a massive price increase. However, since then, every other car like the SL, 911 all had ridiculous price increase and all of a sudden, the m8 price seems more “reasonable”

The M6 and the M8 Competition are “nothing” alike. I had an M6 Grand Coupe and now have an M8 Competition Coupe and it’s night and day. Most people that make such comments do so based on videos or photos and the truth is that videos and/or photos don’t do the M8 Comp any justice. It’s a very imposing car; anywhere I have taken it to. Stangs have a very similar profile in videos and perhaps even in person; but when you put them side by side they look nothing alike. Look at the videos from Edmunds when they are drag racing them and you’ll see how much more refined is the M8 exterior.
I’ve seen M8s going used with low mileage for $70,000. Which seems pretty reasonable for a GT car with 600 horsepower.
Loved the camera angle from the backseat. Quite immersive
And shows how the dashboard is vastly superior to the screen-heavy efforts of more recent BMW designs

2) I’m loving these videos where James is driving and Thomas is coaching. (I think y’all did this with the STI too?) It feels accessible. Like I’ve never tracked a fast car before, but for now I can live vicariously through James and have Thomas coach me 😅

Love the M8 nothing like such a sweet ride that loses 75% of its resale value within 3 years and 30k miles. Ive benefited and cant wait to benefit from this again.

The M8 grand coupe is my 2nd favourite bmw of all time, the first being the m1. There's something about the 8 series BMWs, all of them are gorgeous

They depreciate like crazy too so do the smart thing and buy one a couple years old CPO and you can get a crazy deal.
It’s absolutely the best looking new BMW available. I’m admittedly not a BMW guy, but I love this car. For my purposes, it’s pretty much perfect. I love grand tourers. If I had the money, I’d have one.
What about a used DB9S or Vanquish or a new LC500?
@@akshaysankarshana2405 DB9S is one of my all-time favorites. I think it’s one of the prettiest cars ever, and I often follow them on the auction sites. They’re just getting kind of old. I wouldn’t drive it daily, like I would the M8. As for the LC, it would make a great daily, and there’s a ton to like about it. I just really get turned off by the headlights and taillights, which look to me like they’re melting. The overall shape and interior, however, are very nice. My sister looked at a used LC before buying a new E450 coupe, but it would have been cool to experience the LC.
@@EmmyJune212008 Nice. True. Also, the LC500 doesn't have that much of sporty handling as a DB9S or that M8. I would want to have a V12 Vantage S 7sp Manual. That to me would be the best handling, best sounding, best riding, luxurious enough, riot of a sports car to drive and then be brilliant to cruise on the highway, like a GT. Love that engine, love that car.
I would have wanted the M8 to be the same recipe as the one that BMW showed in the 90s: McLaren F1 V12, Manual, RWD. Add to it all the comfort in the world, and that would have been the best Sports Car GT ever. I can only wish that it had happened.

To celebrate my 50th birthday we hired its baby brother the M850 in Munich and done 2300km in it. I’m a changed person after driving this car on the autobahn. I like the understated M lite cars, they feel like true daily drivers cars and the full M’s are for people to show off. You also need to drive in Germany, the track is one thing but doing 200km/h and then some gives you another angle that you just cannot appreciate anywhere else and you realise this is a core engineering element in German cards. 160km/h on the autobahn and it feels like a Sunday drive at 90.
Somehow the designers managed to remember proportions and ratios. It looks perfect.

I agree. Z06 without z07 package can be an excellent grand tourer thanks to the mag ride, as well as a much better canyon carver, track car, and less expensive to own and maintain. Much more special engine as well.

Great if you live in the US. Try importing one to Europe and get hit with co2 emission/engine size taxes. They go for 150k 😅

Great car.....I looked at this 3 yrs ago as well as the R8, and S63 coupe..... but ended getting the late model DB9.2....love them all
Arguably, DB9 is a far better sporty GT than this M8.

The rear diff in these BMWs isnt just so drifty because of how much in locks, but also because of the way it uses torque vectoring to overdrive the outside wheel and then it locks

BMW makes absolutely SICK M cars and suv’s. Period!
I own one, and it’s the most amazing vehicle. It constantly surprises both myself and quite a few others who challenge it. Not to mention you can drive the thing 600 miles and feel like going to the gym after, not to the hot tub to soothe an aching back like my Porsche owning friends.
PS the rear seats are ridiculous. There’s absolutely no need for them other than to display the gorgeous two tone interior.

Not only it's the best package from BMW... it's the best GT on the market.
Not for me. If I'm spending 6 figures on a car, I'd be looking at an Aston Martin (either DB12 or Vantage) or a Bentley ContiGT if I wanted something waftier / luxurious. That's not to say the M8C is not a very fine car.

This things is either going to be a hidden gem or something everyone talks about for the next 20 years. It's not overly modern bmw in styling, it seems like a beauty to drive, it feels fun in almost every circumstance, and it'll definitely turn heads whether it's the styling or the noise. Can't wait for these things to do the sub $200k luxury sports car thing and go for like $40-60k in a couple years.

This car is amazing. This is technically the spiritual successor to E63 M6 which is one of my favorite cars of all time. I love this losing the rear in RWD mode. These things have always been luxury Vipers going back to the E63. I would love to see you guys find a decent condition E63 M6 and do a video on that with the V10.

DRS reduces drag for more straight line speed. It's not really for the car behind, it's to get a free boost under a tow behind another car or for higher lap times. In F1, there are multiple DRS zones on a track that allow you activate it during a race if you are within 1 second behind the car ahead.
Just wait for the redesign. They'll find a way to mess it up. RIP M5

Oh this was such a fantastic video, a gorgeous gorgeous car with pretty much everything being perfect from the interior to the handling. Then Thomas and James being really happy about it and complementing it throughout the video, and ending it on a serious note but with a good old joke.

So, guys, I've watched your channel for a long time and I know you have both spent some time in some really capable and fast cars. However, we know neither of you have a racing background, unlike some other TH-camrs who review cars. BUT, when I see what Thomas is doing with this car at about 9:37, I have to say you have some skill. I'm no expert of course, but when you see enough people going fast in a car, you eventually can recognize someone who is skilled and confident running a car at its limits, and I think that describes what I saw at 9:37. Sometimes a small bit of information makes significant changes in perception. You might want to show more of that type of footage. Perhaps from both of you. It provides more Cred. if you get my meaning? It's nice to actually see that someone who is giving an opinion of the capability of the car, can actually do something with that capability. Sure, there are the numbers for the lap times, but that is not seeing it. Nice addition! Oh, and as always, I love the type of connection and interaction you two have on the channel.

I have a x3m comp and its amazing and very fast and you can do it with a washing machine in the back if needed, so checks all the boxes for me my car.
