I want to thank you for taking the time to show me your drills . Ive never trained in a gym but I definitely learn a lot from guys like you and Rob Pilger . IM 46 yrs. old , a veteran with plenty of time on my hands due to permanent and total disability . Thanks again brother , take care and keep up the good work .

Just figured out a way to set this up indoors finally , it's a little tight in my small space so my movements need to be precise . I improved my agility 10 fold by doing this a couple of times a week for about 20 minutes each session for about 5 months . Besides hitting the bag this is my favorite solo training drill. My legs are shredded now also . Shout out to JT ! Thanks again for showing us this , I love it !

Woah, this is a good idea :)
Builds endurance, speed, reflexes, and it makes you sweat!
Even though I train in a different martial arts style, I think that this will be a great workout and drill!
Thanks so much for the idea! :D

@PortCityPhoenix thanks guys, I know what you are saying. all of my fights are on old VHS tapes and I probably wont get around to converting them for awhile. But anyways, i will have some vids coming up with a fellow boxer and you'll get to see some moves in various situations. I think this will be more representative of the stuff i'm teaching.
    thx again,
    JT

You know what My trainer put me through this and watching your videos helped me alot. Kept me moving facing the middle not keeping my eyes off and constantly moving. Kept it 3 to four rounds like you said and for three minute intervals. I watch your videos everyday and apply them. Im 5'9 and so I am short and I practice how to get in a taller fighter with your tips, too. Love it.

Thank you from saving me the time to do one of these videos. I see a lot of people square up as the weave (opening up their defense to body attacks and upper cuts and only having one side (lt or right) punch option. This is the best video I have seen for technique with the most offensive options.
The measure of an effective defense is how many offensive options it creates.

  • @PrecisionBoxing

yes, you don't absolutely have to have the slip line to do this, just the intent to work hard and the fundamentals of movement for ducking/footwork.

I used to have this problem and had to improvise, tie it to anything you can, a pipe or something on the wall. It doesn't have to be a perfect criss cross. Worst case scenario you can always tape the wraps to the wall, you just need good tape and a wall you don't mind getting dirty.

As mayweather says, it's all about the skills. The further you get into boxing the more you realize that weights vs. resistance bands or other conditioning questions don't make much difference. 90% of your skills are gonna come from basic training. lots of punches, footwork, bag work. road work, sprints, ab work. Do that first and then ask the question to yourself.

Great drill. You make it look effortless. I wish you made a video on the steps and how to move so fluidly. As a boxer my movements are, as my coach puts it, robotic. So the challenge for me is just how to move smoothly around the ring and not so stagnant.

  • @PrecisionBoxing

to be honest I don't have anything catered to kids as far as general drills. I can tell you that kids love to hit the pads right away. so instead of trying to teach by showing i'll get them to hit the pads. start with something that feels good like a right hand, then after they hear the "whack" sound i'll make a couple small adjustments to their stance etc. I try to just make them feel good about what they are doing as soon as possible.

  • @PrecisionBoxing

@chingon711 the ducking itself is to duck a punch, and the stepping off is to create angles and move to safety. You don't always have to wait for a punch to duck, you can pre-emptively duck to throw off your opponent, keep him guessing where your head is going to be.

    Nice job guys.

very nice and it looks more effective than a slip bag because of the constant movement and angles. thats the great thing about boxing, so manny gyms and trainers have so manny techniques and trainging styles everywhere u go but there are also lots of bad coaches and trainers as well but not you youre good nice work

My Judo has greatly improved because of the boxing drills I have gotten on TH-cam from TripleVVV3, Marvin Cook, and Albert Pope.
By watching the instructional videos, I better understand why was Bruce Lee so effective at connecting his leading punch. As Bruce Lee would launch his right hand lead, he was jumping in at a angle, the opponent did not have to time to adjust; He must have gotten that idea of angle attacks from western boxing...Love it

My opinion is to line it up and do it five days a week for 3-4 weeks, see if anything changes in that time in your game overall. I'd love to get feedback from a tall fighter. I can't see that it would do you any harm, there's still lots of footwork and changing directions involved.

I like what you said that you want to spend energy while training. Got to increase conditioning in training. Sometimes in sparring I over punch myself out as well also though. Make it more real as if I’m going for the stoppage. As if I have to over punch myself out till I’m tired out.

Good Work... I know this drill... it's a very old school boxing drill but very effective...it's excellent for developing your overall footwork, pivoting, slipping, ducking and angle changes.. I use to see my friend Tony Pep who is a Canadian boxer who has fought Pretty Boy Floyd and went the distance with him do the EXACT drill.. it can really improve your footwork and your awareness of where you are at any time when you are inside the ring.

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  12 ปีที่แล้ว

The goal is to stay tight to the slip line, it's ok if it slightly grazes you and you want it low enough that you have to stay a bit low. Henry below is right, it doesn't matter that much. Be concerned about what happens in sparring, this is just a tool.

Excellent drill. Thanks so much. Great movement also. It's definitely a great drill "as-is" but you gave me an idea of adding another line or two cutting across the others to allow more angles, etc. That may be more trouble than it's worth though. Probably better just to stick with the two lines...

Hey bud, are you the southpaw in blue? Nice fight, you look like a good aggressive little boxer, fast hands and nice counter-punching. My only suggestion would be to move your head a bit more and try to create angles. Slip to the right when you throw that straight left, and after your combo roll off that right hook, if you can step to an angle and start a new attack you can really surprise your opponent. I think you have the footwork and the fitness to do it. keep up the good work

Ive been doing this with only 1 way up and down. With a tenis ball with a 6 foot elastic band going through the tenis ball. I then put a 2.5 pound weight at the bottom so it wobbles all about. I duck and learn how to land while in whatever position. It taught me how to really get my back and shoulder into a punch on accident. I already knew hip and legs.
