    We have tons of leaves, tons of acorns, some pine cones, and of course plenty or twigs. A few years ago my neighbor's son had his buddy clean their yard with a small parking lot sweeper - that thing picked up *_everything_* and in record time. His lawn looked awesome afterward.

    Troy Bilt makes INCREDIBLE Equipment NONE BETTER Best bet for small engines you won't need to tinker with more and more as years go by. Stuff is built like a tank and always over powered. That chipper would be FANTASTIC to get rid of flower gardens end of year stems too. My acre of lawn comes with deep beds of flowers on all sides with wheel barrows of stems at end of year to cut and haul. I'd just chip them and dump the bag right there, putting it back as mulch. Stick and electric start on that and I'm sold (arthritis)

    I’ve had one of these for many years. Just throw out the hose thing and use a powerful blower to pile up the leaves and suck them up with the big nozzle instead of the hose. This bag is terrible to remove and empty. It gets heave and plugged, so you have to lift and pull the leaves out, it’s exhausting.

    This is a neat machine -- But, as a landscaper. Definitely very light blowing can get the leaves out of gardens & trampoline, etc, without blowing out most mulch (if you are not pressing down trigger full throttle like a crazy person the whole time) -- Then, just mowing over with a push mower, or larger mower can shred & make most of the bulk leaves disappear with 1-2 passes.
    This machine is neat, but sort of unnecessary extra product. Neat features though. Thanks for the review. We need folks giving us up close analysis & demos for these products to help us narrow down what we could or should buy to help make our lives easier.

    A local equipment store was having a retirement liquidation auction of the Crary-Bearcat version of this machine. The only thing it didn't have compared to the Troy-Bilt was the little chipper. Granted, the Crary-Bearcat had three forward gears. I ended up passing on it since it went above how much I was willing to pay. Overall, I think the addition of the small chipper is a bonus compared to it just being a vacuum

    I am 75 years old, and have used this same vacuum for several seasons now. No Problems At All. The bag is actually Super Easy to re-attach back onto the vacuum, and when attached correctly, the rubber covered safety switch will automatically be depressed. The Super Easy & Fast way to do it is ... first take a close look at the bag - vacuum interface. Look at the bag's plastic chute design and shape while also looking at the matching shape of the sheet metal interface shroud that surrounds the exhaust opening. This examination of the two mating parts takes a second or two or just ask any child that plays with Legos to help.
    I will assume that you are right-handed and that you are on the right side (facing forward) of the machine. Observe that the plastic chute will perfectly fit and slide vertically straight down over the matching shape of the sheet metal shroud of the exhaust outlet. 1) first, attach the bag to the top of the control handle using the plastic clamp 2) with your right hand, slide the spring loaded brass locking rail to the fully Unlocked position. While holding the lock rail Unlocked, 3) use your left hand, holding the pistol grip of the chute and carefully lower the aligned chute straight down to cover and seal the matching sheet metal interface of the exhaust outlet. Once the chute is seated squarely in place, the safety button (under the rubber protector) will automatically be depressed. 4) release the spring rail, attach the bag straps and you are done. With practice, this entire process takes 8-10 seconds.

    The thing is if you have property surrounded by trees like I do. No good. You would be emptying the bag every 20 feet. My daughter thought that if she got the system for her ride John Deere lawn mower all her leaf problems would be solved - she only has 1 acre. The bags would fill up in no time rendering the whole process useless. The system was a $400 upgrade. So I had to assemble, disassemble & use my truck to return it. Consider how many bag loads are on your lawn - literally hundreds. Do you want to attach & re-attach the bag hundreds of times & lug it to dump wherever? At least with the ride on you are not lugging. You have to keep up with it. I just use the leaf blower & blow into the woods. Luckily my property so no neighbors bitching & use the ride on John Deere with regular lawn blades to chop up the residue (no switching to mulch blades BS)! Good for suburban living where you are in a subdivision with 1 or 2 trees on your property maybe. Not rural living surrounded by trees!

    You told us the positives and that is fine but to me the one big negative with these is you use them what a month maybe two out of twelve. The rest of the time they sit where in your garage or shed taking up space not to mention a gas engine needs maintenance. Unless you're doing yards for a living or have more money and space then you know what to do with they just aren't worth the trouble. More traditional methods are maybe a little less fun but in the long run a better option for most people.

      I could say the same thing about a snowblower what time is what I have one even though we've had a very mild winter this year in Massachusetts. With is machines like this you don't necessarily have to spend top dollar you can go on Marketplace and get a good used one. I actually found my leaf vacuum in the trash needed minor maintenance. And I actually use my vacuum after trimming Hedges so I use mine for a little more than other people do. I also end up with a lot of small branches whenever we have high winds at various times of the year so the chipper used quite frequently.

    • @markp.7165
      @markp.7165 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    1. It's a Troy-Bilt brand. Meaning, it's a throw away brand. MIGHT get 3 seasons out of it.
    2. The worst thing about Troy-Bilt (aside from their carburetors) is where the push handle meets the steel deck. Blah!
    3. This is the MOST important. With that many leaves, one needs to make chainsaw grass. Go ahead, ask me what "chainsaw grass" is. NOT saw grass. CHAINsaw grass. Google doesn't have the answer. Only yours truly does. 😉

    • @ScottTooley
      @ScottTooley ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the Milwaukee, but I do have the top of the line (well, last year's) Ryobi, and it's been mulching leaves pretty well so far this year. Problem is that I might end up with too much mulch, so I'm still going to have to get rid of some leaves (but far fewer than last year).
