Thanks, Griffith Lawn Labs. I love my majestic pin oak tree, but those little leaves are a royal pain to rake. Your video of this tool picking them up, handily, sold me. Ordering on Amazon, right now.
Thanks for posting a helpful, and very honest review of this equipment. While I generally liked what I saw, I was a bit turned off at the fact that it took duct tape to remedy two different shortfalls with it. Then when I saw the price, this revelation became even more objectionable. Quite frankly, I’m not able to justify a $200 price for something that needs duct taping to improve its performance, and certainly NOT right out of the box. I’ve used duct taping actions many times over the years, but this was typically done WELL AFTER a product’s initial use, and it was usually for minor repair purposes. That said, nice job on the informative review.
I would absolutely agree with you! We're using our mowers weekly so that's the obvious first choice but the lawn sweeper what I use most often otherwise. My lawn sweeper gets more action because I don't have a bagger on my mower, but the sweeper picks things up at least 5x the rate.
I'm just wondering, does this hold a significant advantage over just running over the lawn with a riding lawn mower with a bag attachment and picking up the leaves that way.
I need something also, I have fifteen huge pine trees with pine straw and cones all over the place. I did find a tool that's great for the cones but the pine straw makes me crazy and this time of year during the cold it's all over. I'd love to get them all cut down hauled off and the stumps grinded down but it would be close to $50K, I'm also looking at those landscaper rakes you can tow behind your riding mower.
Cutting down trees is an expensive endeavor. I grew up in a rural part of NW FL and we had the same situation - lots of pines and red oaks that dumped tons of leaves, pine straw, and pine cones. We had a riding lawn mower and attached a lawn sweeper to the back. We had a process of mowing (to mulch everything up and push all the debris towards the middle of the yard) and the lawn sweeper would pick up as we went along. I highly recommend this method if you have that many trees
It looks great and I found where I can get it here in Australia but I will probably get a cheaper one. I figure for a quarter of the price it does not matter so much if I need to replace it. And also with a smaller yard and tight spots between the trees a 21 inch rather the 26 might be better.
Does it come with a cover for the collection bin? Otherwise it looks great. It is very windy where I live and I'm skeptical the leaves will stay in. Also, my leaves make a ton of dust when they're mulched. It seems like I would be walking into a cloud the whole time.
It looks great and love the hacks. How well does it work on driveways or sidewalks with pine needles? I have ponderosa pines and they are a pain to sweep by hand on a longer driveway as well as grass.
THanks for your review. Have you ever tried dethatching your lawn and then using the sweeper to pick up all the dead grass it pulled out? I' wondering how it works for that, or maybe that isn't much different from sweeping freshly cut lawn? Thanks!
Grass clippings are great for nitrogen production, would you consider a better mulching blade to help feed your grass and save you cost in fertilizers.
You're right, grass clippings are great for adding nitrogen back into the soil. I do recommend using a good mulching blade to recycle nutrients. Always keep it sharp too! In situations with frequent rain, it may not allow for us to get out there and mow. The grass grows quickly, and in this case, you might need to remove clippings after you've cut to prevent damage from clumps sitting on top of the grass.
@@GriffithLawnLabs thank you, I understand it’s application better now! It helps to have the right tools for the job. Thanks for sharing again, I enjoyed it!
I am surprised you use a manual push sweeper to clean such a large lawn-mine takes about an hour to mow. I am a senior, and there is no way I would do what you do - I take my hat off to you! My sweeper ,which I inherited from my dad, is about 65 years old,and still works great. It is all metal, with a cloth catcher. You say you detach your collector to dump the contents when it gets full. I lay out a tarp, and just roll my sweeper up to the tarp, and turn the whole thing over, which is a lot less work and far faster than detaching the catcher. It doesn't bother me that that method leaves some leaves in the catcher.
It picks up the mulch that gets in my grass, so I have little doubt it will pick up larger size nuts. Smaller ones like acorns might be difficult to get them all, but anything larger I would think that it would.
It should. I don't have those but it picks up sticks and pine cones. We just had a lot of rain this week and mulch chips washed into the yard. It picked those up too. Just make sure you do my duct tape suggestion. That helps a lot
Haha, I'll take that as a compliment! I'm pretty sure I can still give him a run for his money - even with the height disadvantage. Maybe we can arm wrestle and see who the real Luke Rockhold is around here.

Love my sweeper! Best investment I made, next to Ego mower that has been going strong for 6 years! A huge plus it picks up all those pine needles

Do you know if this would be okay for artificial turf? Would the bristles be too stiff for this?
Thank you for this. I’m going to order it tonight.
Perfect solution. You can build compost bin and toss the materials together for use in mulching after the composting has done its work.
That's right!

I wonder... will this thing work well picking up golf balls...? 🤔

Where can I get replacement parts I need rod to hold my bag in place

Thanks! Glad it helped.

How does it do with aeration plugs?
I am planning a core aeration soon, so we will find out. When I had it last year, I did not pick up my cores - I left them.
Will this pick up nuts

I would of bought one that pulls behind the mower to make it faster.
I wonder if this would work for sweet gum balls
