I find it really strange that most people seem to dislike the editing part. The editing is actually the easiest for me and I find that the actual writing and creating of a (fiction) book is what kills me!

She drew in a sharp breath of unfeigned delight at the sudden pop-up on her screen. Making quick use of the mouse, she attacked the notification before it had a chance to escape. Should her day have any redeeming quality, this was sure to be it. Episode 39 💛

I always compare writing a book with learning ballet. Tough, painful, overwhelming, boring at time, physically and mentally exhausting but leading to absolute beauty. Thank you ladies for this episode!

I liked this video a lot! Just yesterday I pushed myself to get up very early and I wrote 500 words. Then I had all these thoughts about giving up for good and I was laying in bed feeling so sad. Then suddenly I got up, I made my bed, changed my clothes and started my day with a new energy, with this feeling that I had actually done what I had to do. It didn't matter that those were not good words. All that mattered somehow was that I had written them. I felt... So strong. So much freer.

Ooh, Abbie plays piano? That's awesome! Also I totally relate to feeling like you're annoying your parents, lol. Especially because the song I'm learning currently has the right hand doing interesting stuff, but then I have to separately practice the left hand which is really obnoxious and repetitive by itself. XDD

I once heard someone say, If you had 200,000 dollers and you lost 100, you wouldn't throw the other 199,900 away. This can be applied to writing, if you have 200,000 words and you mess up one page, you wouldn't just throw the rest away. Thank you guys so much.

So good! Literally one of the most important lessons I learned from high-school was perseverance - for me it was committing to my school band until graduation. Although it got super monotonous (5 years of school band is a lot when you're not even all that serious about it!) and there were many days when I questioned why I was doing this thing after school in upper years. But at the end of it all, when I finally graduated, I felt so satisfied to have DONE IT and it dawned on me that if you persevere in something (anything!), and stick to it until the end there is always a reward for you, even if it was just the memory of completing something or the experience you gained! Like, yes, I can do it! Anyway, thank you for another great podcast! Very encouraging ladies.

There was a great maturity from both of you in this video and I loved it! :) I think it's important to be thoughtful and realistic about creativity with conversations like this

Started writing a book yesterday after meditating on several screenplay ideas for six months in a treatment facility. These are all extremely personal, violent trauma stories and it was just yesterday when some sort of creative burst of energy struck me when I found a unique twist on structure. What I struggle with though, is not so much the substance, editing or boredom. More so I get these large bursts of manic energy where it feels like magic is shooting out of my fingers. I write music, poetry and stories and a strong love of it has formed in the past year of being locked up. However large amounts of my time is spent dealing with finances for my family or coping with mental stuff. How do y’all effectively meditate on your writing when the real life stuff overwhelms your ability to create?

There's a Brazilian saying for the water and rock metaphor Abbie used. "Água mole em pedra dura tanto bate até que fura"

everybody, maybe I'm not meant to be a writer. Me: Been writing ever since I read Harry Potter at age 7, been writing stories handwriten, taught myself how to type on a computer so I could write stories quicker. Also Me: I think I was made for this!!

Well... I thought I was doing something wrong because I’ve been feeling tedious about my writing, but you’ve made me realize that I’m actually doing something right lol.
