I just bought my Casita 17’ FD last week used it’s a 2013. I am preparing to retire and full time live in mine after my son graduates High School and starts his life in the World. I have been very overwhelmed until I found you & your videos...thank you so much! Thanks to finding you I now have a list of pending projects that need to be done. You ROCK!
Awesome job showing us how to do it from scratch!! I have to add, no other TH-camr I've seen online can explain things like you do. Keep up the good work! And what a great idea! A perfect place to store that pipe. I am just back from visiting the Casita Travel Trailer place in Rice,TX today and checking out the models. These videos help immensely. Please keep them coming. Thanks a bunch!
GREAT presentation - thanks. I deviated for holding the end caps on by simply drilling a 1/4 inch hole through both the post and end cap, then just drop a 1/4 X 6 inch bolt through both. Done. I have been using this method with my bumper rubber caps for 20 years.
Thanks Allen! I added your sewer hose storage! We are excited about this. Creating more storage on Casita is awesome. All credit goes to you now and those I share with in future.
We recently bought a new camper not a Casita but another brand. Unfortunately we encountered the exact same problem with our bumper being to small for our old Rhino Flex sewer hose. All of the options as to what to use and where to mount it just would not work because of space restraints or ground clearance. I think there are thousands out there with the same problem. I am grateful to you for your video with the detail you give. You have solved my problem. Thank you for such a great video.
Drill a couple of holes in the end cap for air circulation and keeps hose dry. Place the holes as close to the bottom as possible for rain drainage. Hope that helps.
You are my hero today! Saw something similar to this project, but I didn’t like how he attached the fence post to the bumper. Or how he attached the caps. You provided the solution and I will be getting my supplies!!! Thank you, Thank you!!!
Your videos are going to be invaluable to me when we get our very own Casita. We're flying out to Texas on Thursday to decide on a model (we're leaning towards a Liberty) and put in our down payment. Thank you and keep the videos coming!
Great idea - I hate putting those sewer hoses inside the bumper because its such a tight fit and at times I have to force it in..Thinking of putting it on top of the bumper..Thank you sir for the idea.
I loved how you explained everything so clearly and such a great idea too!! I love how you made it all work so efficiently...great idea too! I so wish more TH-camrs would explain things like you do, without needless talking...you just said what needed to be said and made it perfectly clear though all the steps...thank so much and also thank you for your precious time making this video and posting it here.😊🚐
I just bought an 2013 SD Deluxe from my cousin. I had an idea to put "something" on the bumper, and you showed me just how it could be done. Thanks so much.
Good job. I was planning to do the same thing but mount it to the frame behind the propane tanks. As for storing items in the old bumper - these tend to get very rusty on the inside and will stain anything in side. I put a piece of nylon house gutter inside of mine. You have to trim it to fit, but it will keep most of the rust off.
RV Adventures It’s a Geardeck by lets go aero. Plan on attaching to bumper hitch after going to welding shop. This carrier was on my 2016 Mircolite 19fd that I purchased from a fellow that only had it for 3 months. I know first hand what happens if bumper isn’t reinforced.
I know it’s a three year old video but that you for the idea I have to modify it a little to fit under the trailer as I don’t have a rear bumper (toy hauler) but I think with the info you put out I’ll be just fine thanks again
Nicely done! I'm new to the RV world and have been managing that sewer hose a couple of different ways - none as clean and neat as this! Found out early on that the hose fitting would not fit in the rear bumper storage on our Keystone Passport 23RB. Subscribed!
Great upgrade. You did a fantastic job of explaining this step by step. Presently I have my Rhino hose in a big plastic tote that I have to carry in the back of my truck. This would be a much better method of storing it.
We just ordered a ‘21 casita. Don;t know if we will need this modification for our sewer hose but it would be useful for other things too. Thanks for the clear step by step instructions.
Great video. Interested in how your spare tire is mounted. On our Casita ours sits on the bumper so would not be able to mount a 5 inch post with the bottom flush with the bumper. Thanks.
i'm kind of doing the same thing except , i'm mounting it under the camper. i've been looking for a way to secure the end caps , i think i will steal your idea. i painted my fence post black, looks much better.
Thank you for responding. I am going to add to my Casita. I am thinking of only adding 6” and not 10” to the the 58” bumper storage. Do you see that being a problem? Also, did you center the the holes you drilled in the sleeve that connect to metal bumper or move them higher? Thank you Allen.
Great video. I think I’ll do the same thing, but mount the fence post to the bumper using steel straps. I love the idea of storing the awning tools in the bumper. I saw in another video that you added little shelves or storage bins inside the Casita for phone charging etc, that would be neat to hear how you mounted them. I’d like to use suction cups or some other non permanent mountains system so I can have flexibility as our needs change and not damage the fiberglass. Maybe double sided tape would be the best solution?
Stuart Stuart The little bins under the overheads on each side as well as the rectangular one on the wall under the thermostat were purchased online from Little House Customs. They came with double sided tape. The other items we have on that wall were Wal-Mart items and again double sided tape. We also use command hooks elsewhere. Thanks for the comments and questions. Have a great day.
Very instructive video! I love it! I was looking for options on my Casita. I'm doing the OMW rear hitch for the spare tire and a bike. Not sure if this will work for me. You are very kind to us non Nasa engineers. Thank You! Subscribed!
D M Thank you for your comments. If I had a carrier set up on the rear bumper like you described, I would maybe move the spare tire up some and put a plastic container like I put on the bumper on the top of the bumper instead of on the rear. Hope you can make it work. You could also mount one behind the propane bottles like I showed in the video.
I haven't had any clearance issues. Yes, I have removed the spare tire as part of my annual tire rotation and it was not any problem. Thanks for asking.
I'd add a clip at the peak of the cap so the bungee does no slip off the end and loose the cap! also when you un-clip the end of bungee the cap stays with the bungee and does not get misplaced. Maybe paint it black to make it look like a bumper.
I have used this mod for over a year now, exactly as you instructed. On our last trip, I lost the sewer pipe and fittings, as the end cap slipped down far enough for everything to slide out. The bungee cord had weakened just enough to allow the end cap to slip down. Amazingly, I still had the end cap, it was just too low to hold the pipe in. Have you any suggestions for an alternate means of securing the end caps?
Yes. You can drill a hole in the cap close to the side near the tube and then drill a hole through the end cap side through it and the tube lining it up with the one drilled on the end. Then place a carabiner through the holes. You could also drill a hole on the top of the cap through it and the tube and just drop a bolt through it to lock it in place, make sure your bolt is 2-3" long so it doesn't bounce out.
Very nice! Looks great too! Great instructions too. Thanks so much! Any trouble putting your little rubber door on the original bumper with the white one right next to it?
I maybe would have mounted it underneath the bumper Incase I ever get rear ended. That fence post won’t stand much force so if it was underneath at least the actual bumper would be there to help take the force.
I’ve never seen anyone install it on the rear face of the bumper. Interesting. I would consider an eyelet on the end caps and crimp one end of the bungee so it doesn’t come off. You can also use a piece of symmetrical gutter as a tray inside the fence post to make it easier to retrieve the sewer hose. The gutter can also serve as a hose support.
I did have an eyelet on the caps of the ones on the front. Over time, they cracked where they were drilled so I went back to just a cap. In the metal bumper, I did add a cut piece of 4" pvc for my awning support and crank. I tried that in the sewer hose storage and found that for me, it was just extra since the hose goes in and out easily. Thanks for you comments.
Can you tell me how long you cut the vinyl tubing/post that you used on the front of your Casita frame? Would you recommend that length for the front? You said you cut the rear tubing to about 68". - Thanks. I am following your model.
The one in the front is 60" so it doesn't stick out too much on the sides.... I guess for turning clearance to the bumper of the tow vehicle and air resistance.
Good video Sir!, but... I wouldn’t trust that chintzy little bungee cord and now what happens if somebody taps your bumper or you back into something? Sproing! I think it would be better to put both up in the front.
Keep an eye on those rubber bumper caps. I lost two of the original ones then replaced them with the ones that you have to squeeze to get them in the pipe, I lost one of those too. They tend to shrink when the temperature gets extra cold.So make sure they are tight before you lose your awning post.

Great idea and sounds much simpler.

I like the Southern Pacific sign on your wall in the background.

Thank you. I had the same delima,
Drill a couple of holes in the end cap for air circulation and keeps hose dry. Place the holes as close to the bottom as possible for rain drainage. Hope that helps.
Good idea, but better yet, drill a few holes underneath rather than the end caps for easier drainage.

Good luck!! I know you will love your new Casita when you take delivery. Happy camping.
Great demo and install. Thought I would drop a comment and share I did this on our motorhome last year following your ideas.
Awesome, thank you!
Great idea - I hate putting those sewer hoses inside the bumper because its such a tight fit and at times I have to force it in..Thinking of putting it on top of the bumper..Thank you sir for the idea.
You described this project so well. Very well laid out and helpful! Thank you!! 😉

Bravo! I have the same problem and this gave me some great ideas on how to fix it! Well done! Thank you.
Great to hear!
That’s awesome! Thanks for posting!!
Keep these Casita vids coming.....Casita owner here since '14. Have the same story about the Rhino.
Rick Martin will do... I appreciate your comments. Thanks
I really appreciate the very detailed instructions AND the explanation of the specific parts used. Bravo and Thank You!
Thanks for watching... hope it helps some out there facing the same issues.
Love it.. Going to do this project next weekend. The only modification that I would make would be drill a few drain holes in the bottom.
Great idea

Nice mod and nice presentation on how to install, it. It's been quite a while since I have seen a corded drill motor.
Thanks 👍
Just ordered my Casita Spirit Deluxe. Definitely adding this great mod to the “mod list”. Thank you so much!!!
You are so welcome! You'll love your new Casita.
You are so welcome! You'll love your new Casita.
This is a really good project. I might try this.
Great Job showing how to do it!! Looks Great!!
Thank you so much 🤗
You sir are a genius! You solved a problem we were having! Thank you!
I appreciate your watching. Glad the video helped.
Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I just added this modification to our motorhome today! Fabulous!
Great!
Looks good & matches trailer.
Thanks for the terrific diy video. I got my hose carrier finished yesterday. Mounted it behind lpg tanks as I’m putting a cargo carrier on rear.
Great... which brand/model of cargo carrier are you selecting and how attaching?
RV Adventures It’s a Geardeck by lets go aero. Plan on attaching to bumper hitch after going to welding shop. This carrier was on my 2016 Mircolite 19fd that I purchased from a fellow that only had it for 3 months. I know first hand what happens if bumper isn’t reinforced.

Yes, the idea can be adapted to most any place. Thanks.
One of the better tutorials I’ve seen. Thank you!
Kool Nice job

Great upgrade. You did a fantastic job of explaining this step by step. Presently I have my Rhino hose in a big plastic tote that I have to carry in the back of my truck. This would be a much better method of storing it.
I would say you need to drill some AIR holes in each end cap so that the water dries out in hose.
Good suggestion.
This is really genius actually I love finding a good use for a material that wasn't it's intended purpose
Well done congrats
Great job young Man!
Fantastic just what I need
Fantastic idea!!! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ll be doing this to my 1978 Toyota Dolphin 🐬!
Great, I am glad you got some ideas from the video.
We just ordered a ‘21 casita. Don;t know if we will need this modification for our sewer hose but it would be useful for other things too. Thanks for the clear step by step instructions.
I know you will enjoy your Casita. The modification works good for us because we have limited space in out tow vehicle.
Good idea...thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this video. I will be doing this modification when I get my Casita.
Your welcome... glad that it helped you out. Thanks for watching.
That is freaking AWESOME sir!!!
Thank you.
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for this wonderful video. You've given me great ideas to work with! Really appreciate your time!
Alex Johnson-Jimenez Thanks for the comment.
Alex Johnson-Jimenez Thank you for watching... I am glad you guys enjoyed it.
What a great presentation. Short, sweet, packed full of knowledge. Love watching a man work :)
Great video. Interested in how your spare tire is mounted. On our Casita ours sits on the bumper so would not be able to mount a 5 inch post with the bottom flush with the bumper. Thanks.
It sits on the bumper. The 5" does sit above the bumper a little so I have a 2 x 4 sitting on top of the bumper for the tire to rest on.
Great video!!. Thanks
i'm kind of doing the same thing except , i'm mounting it under the camper. i've been looking for a way to secure the end caps , i think i will steal your idea. i painted my fence post black, looks much better.
Are still happy with what you have done in adding sewer storage to back bumper? Any changes or suggestions? Love how you do things! Thanks
Yes, happy with that mod. It makes hose storage easy.

Man you are amazing
Brilliant!! Thanks for sharing!! Be safe, Be blessed. 😉😀👍❤🇺🇸💙
Donna, glad you enjoyed this one. Maybe it gives some ideas to the RV Adventures community.
Nice fabrication sir,,,,think I will implement a similar setup on our Jayco 145RB....
Thanks for the wonderful instructions. How did you manage to bolt the front tube on? Does the bolt go right through the trailer frame?
Yes the bolt goes through the frame.
Excellent! thx
Love❤

Well done.
Love this mod, but now that it’s been a few years….have you had clearance issues at all? Have you had to remove the spare tire with it on?
I haven't had any clearance issues. Yes, I have removed the spare tire as part of my annual tire rotation and it was not any problem. Thanks for asking.
Thanks
Well done! Thanks
Great Mod!
Thanks, this video has received a lot of comments. I appreciate your watching.
How awsome, I need this....lol 👍
I have a 20' hose. I wonder if it would fit with the added inches. Hmm.
Maybe you could collapse it down and measure it to make sure before undertaking this mod. Thanks for commenting.
That's what I ended up doing. It doesn't fit entirely, but between the existing bumper and the front mod, it does.
I'd add a clip at the peak of the cap so the bungee does no slip off the end and loose the cap! also when you un-clip the end of bungee the cap stays with the bungee and does not get misplaced. Maybe paint it black to make it look like a bumper.
Thanks for the good ideas. Thank you for the comment.
Good job. May .I ask what that knocking sound is? Hopefully another great video on updates. Thank you.
Marengo, the sound was a roof being re-shingled down the street!!!!
Awesome vid would you put links to the rino hose and attachments up so we can purchase thru your affiliate store thanks
Yes, they are on the page at rvadventures.me/products-gear/ Thank you for using the Amazon affiliate link.
Great mod
Very nice! Looks great too! Great instructions too. Thanks so much! Any trouble putting your little rubber door on the original bumper with the white one right next to it?
No trouble at all. The black rubber door mostly fits inside of the original bumper with very little on the sides. Thanks for the comments.
great information, will be doing mine this week. :O)
Good luck! Thanks for the comment.
👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing this modification. How is this holding up?
Your welcome. It is working great.
Thank you so much, l do intend to do the same.
You won't regret doing this one. It has made handling the hose much easier.
I maybe would have mounted it underneath the bumper Incase I ever get rear ended. That fence post won’t stand much force so if it was underneath at least the actual bumper would be there to help take the force.
I didn't do that because of ground clearance... I was afraid that in and out of drives it could drag and be torn off.
Good point!
Keep an eye on those rubber bumper caps. I lost two of the original ones then replaced them with the ones that you have to squeeze to get them in the pipe, I lost one of those too. They tend to shrink when the temperature gets extra cold.So make sure they are tight before you lose your awning post.
Thanks for that info... I will maybe add some hooks to stretch one of those mini bungee cords over it.
What length of hose do you find sufficient at campgrounds? I'm about to buy a Rhino hose, but they come in different sizes.
I have the 15 foot hose and it works in 98% of all campgrounds... I have the 10 foot extension just in case and I have only had to use it once. Usually you can position your trailer fairly close to the sewer connection but there are times you may want to back it in more or less for shade or convenience to a picnic table, etc.
5x5 or 4x4?
So does the 45 actually fit in this as well or do you have to remove that part still?
Yes... it all fits well with no removal of the fittings.
Thanks for the well done video, got mine ready to mount when the rain lets up.
Any one know if a 1984 casita only has one tank on it for grey and black water any help would be appreciated thanks
I have never heard of an RV not having a black tank that is separate from the gray tank, but anything is possible. I have heard of some RV owners combining the tanks after installing a composting toilet.
Unless that's a new hose I'm grossed out that there aren't any gloves being used while touching it.
Yes, it was new when I build the holder.
I was just thinking the same, when he was touching his glasses and bumper.
Do you wear gloves when wipe your azz?
I have a piece of pvc pipe under my trailer and I get 3 sections in it.
must remember.... don't drink the black water.. it's not coffee.
The incessant sound of nailing (new roof nearby?) kept me from making it all the way through this one.
3 houses down....
