With all the chaos in the world right now watching Summer Wine soothes the soul. Thank you for sharing . Put a smile on my face which is badly needed. ❤
I have been watching this series a good long time, while on PBS. I enjoy all British shows, partly for the beautiful scenery. So glad to find these jewels again!
the wonderful actress Jean Fergguson [RIP] was inspired by such comedy greats like Gracie Fields and Mae West watch their films, particularly Mae West; she does the same thing.
Wonderful series to watch. Compo made me laugh and clegg. Both laying to rest near each other. . Tom compos sun is nice as well. Medina and her short skirts cycling along to her rondeviwe with her love.hahaha. don't make them like that now?!!
I don't know why, but Nora Batty saying "...if they made it that far..." must be the line that hit me the most in all this pearl of a series...nothing to do with some war, far from it, it's just Nora Batty uttering those words...Nora Batty, her timing, her accent, her face, no one else, and the few seconds that followed...thank the Gods for the invention of Kleenex® /--D
In one episode Nora Batty told one of the guys, You're seconds away from a bad experience!!!! Priceless..... I love these people. They call each other Muffin so often that I named one of my cats Muffin.
hey mark... the BBC was going to give them their own show when this one ended. I don't know if they did or not because I live in the USA. if you look hard, you might find it. good luck. if you do find it, let me know.
Usually when you say something is CUTE, you are damning with faint praise, but this show is cute. By which I mean you weren't necessarily rolling on the floor laughing for 29 minutes, but it sure was fun to watch. I have seen several episodes over the years, and I agree this series was at its high point during the "Compo years" (his funeral provided laughs that I feel rival the infamous Chuckles the Clown funeral episode on The Mary Tyler Moore show) but these "middle years" episodes are nearly as good. I never saw this episode before, and as usual: an unexpected ending.
@JRRnotTolkien She got tipsy in another one too drinking the Dowager Lady Ursula's gooseberry wine. She'd bought it at an estate auction. Richard had quite a time to get her in the car.
Actually, I think it was "Once In A Moonlit Junkyard." Compo takes the others to the junkyard so he can meet up with his old flame Babs, and Auntie comes out with a shotgun!
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

Would be a bit boring. All they do is take naps and sit eating and avoiding doing any work.
- So a good portrayal of modern UK policing.
I never tire of watching these. Just escapism i guess.

You had to have lived there to know ......Yorkshire..God's country.
they are all great actors but the ones with the man who plays compo is good
That would have been Bill Owen. He was marvelous.
Nora must've left her hats to Meghan and her mother hahaha, dreadful!
“Not me dog! I live here!” 19:21 classic

In the UK "cute" has a meaning more like shrewd.
Another howler hahahahaha!
One trying to sell something to the other

Sleep o
This show is terrible but I love the countryside and how neat and clean they keep their village the script makes no sense at all.
Get an adult to explain it to you.
This was dumb.
Who the hell asked for your opinion anyway????
That's what makes the show. It's show about nothing. Regular people and their daily interactions. Like sienfield
