I owned one of these in 1968 as a 16 year old. Its was an excellent bike, much mocked by the British bike brigade but the little T200 went like stink. I would certainly easily do 80mph, I was never in a position to check accurately but I would have said it was good for 90+. It also handled well for the era, but had two nasty tendencies. Firstly, like all two stokes with a narrow power band it was prone to wheelies - usually at the wrong time. The second one was a vague tendency to do "tank slappers" under heavy braking. I suspect the forks just bottomed and that got things going. But in every practical sense it was reliable, fast and fun.
Wow what a gorgeous bike ! One of these was responsible for my passion for motor bikes, At the age of 14 my cousin and I used to watch one being thrashed mercilessly by a guy from our local town, sometimes with his big over weight mate on the back, That poor little bike took everything he gave it, Then.... He bought a new Norton Commando 750 with a combat engine and it knocked the mains out 5 times in 7k miles, he ended up getting banned from our local Norton dealer lol.
Amazing work!, congratulations!. Regards from patagónia Argentina.
I bought one of these used in 1972 for $200. It ran great. Mine was a 1968, but black instead of red.
