- In this video we walk around and describe the features of a 1962 Honda CB77 that I’ve recently finished restoring. We also cover what makes s 1962 unique compare to a 1963 or later Superhawk. I explain the process by which the bike was restored and talk about what parts were chromed and what parts were replaced. Finally, I show the bike is cold and start it up.
Hi. I was a high school kid on an American base in Japan, graduated in 1962. The reason the badge says “Dream 300” is that the name of the bike in Japan was the “Dream Super Sport.” That’s what we knew it as. I think the Super Hawk designation was for the American market, but later used for other bikes, as well. Thanks for the video. That machine is my “dream” motorcycle. Road several of them but never fortunate enough to own one. The ones in Japan were primarily black and silver, not red. Again, you had a 305 Dream Super Sport on your hands. To my eyes, the perfect design. A work of art.
Great job!
Way better than new and attention to detail is second to none!
I had a UK Honda dealership in 70s & 80s and that is a perfect restoration. Well done
Thank you! I have restored 35 60s and 70s Honda and this restoration is my favorite.
Beautiful work!
I had a used one in high school forty years ago. Still my favorite!
Another beautiful example of a CB77. Such fine bikes!!
Stunning bike and a wonderful thorough job of restoration, she looks and sounds great, a real credit to the time an effort you put in ....🙂
FYI, this bike has been sold, but stay tuned I have four more CB77s waiting to be restored.
Selling a bike that has been perfectly re chromed and restored is kind of a shame, It's super collectible long term
Absolutely magnificent. Beautifully done.
Thank you very much! Of the nearly 30 I’ve done, I think this may be my best work so far.
She looks gorgeus. Too bad there aren't that many in Europe and they aren't this clean and sound this absolutely pristine. I'm guessing you're in the US? You're very transparent with what was done and the pride on the work done. Can't take the eyes and ears off, such a lovely machine, congratulations. Don't know how you have the heart to sell it, I'm guessing you do restorations constantly 😂
Oh that speedometer. Lord help me
Hi and thank you for the very nice comment. Yes I’m in the Florida, US and yes I do 3 to 4 restorations per year. This is my 8th CB77 Superhawk, my oldest and arguably my best one. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
Euorpean model? Chain is on the right side! All my hondas had left hand side chains.
@@linusmadroneall superhawks had chain on the right. Honda swapped it to the left with the 160, 350, 450, etc.
The fact that both brakes have dual leading shoes is impressive.
I had one back in 73 great little bike.
Beautiful. I got a real soft spot for this bike. I got to ride one on the regular as a young teen.
Beautiful job. I'd love that in my garage
Nice job! Beautiful motorcycle.
YAH Nice work . My Dad had one , from Colavito Bros. Washington St. Perth Amboy N.J. Sonny was a Great Guy.
Wow... that is an amazing resto!
Excellent work 😎
Nice work!
had a 160 that looked identical, wonderful bike, and fast too! then later i got the cb 450. rode like a truck!
Extremely desirable. Beautiful job!
Marvellous motorcycle restoration. Wish some one gives me such a bike as a gift
wow. beauty.
Gorgeous, had 2 in the early 80s, but loved my cd175 for my daily ride, sold all of them for peanuts, along with my husky 390 crosser to help pay for my first house😖😖😖
Beautiful
You cant beat a Honda for super reliable service i was in a honda civic taxi yesterday the driver i know was asked what the mileage was he said 274 thousand miles and still same engine on a 2013 car.😊 and this is a 1.8 vtec petrol.
I have picked up two 305s one Cl and a CB plus an extra engine and a few boxes of parts. Wondering if you’d be interested. Enjoy your video
Hi, I might be. Where abouts are you located. If you want to message me via kosmotocustom facebook page I can give you my phone# and we could discuss. Thx
I had one in 1966 model
A credit to you.great work
What did it bring at sale?👌
Mate I owned the second Honda 305 Super Sport in circa 1960 that came to Australia . used to burn a hole in the top of the piston every 200 miles and change selves worn out at 500 miles quarter inch . Worst bike I ever owned . Rubbish . But be fair , We didn’t have the lubricants then we have now . Red and white , my colour bikes you have a nice day Andrej Kondisenko cairns Australia 🇦🇺
Wow, much have been running very lean. They definitely have their quirks. Thx for your comment.
Beautiful resto. job! Most viewers won't know it's a 305cc bike according to model number. Why not identify it as such at the beginning?
Where do you list bikes for sale after restored?
Usually eBay and Facebook marketplace. Sometimes Bring a Trailer (BaT). I have a red cb160 and a blue one I’m putting up for sale soon. Also a cb350. You can private message me via my Facebook page “kosmotocustoms” if you’d like. Thx.
Imo a lot of thought went into the mfg of these bikes where beauty and function is balanced. The new bikes imo have let designers place bizarre looks over the functionality and comfort, and the lines don’t flow but zig and zag in unusual directions and are leaning towards the racetrack instead of a comfortable ride thru the country or commuting.
What is the asking price for a resto like that?
@@flmason this bike sold for $10,000.
@@kosmjon2 Well worth it. The work it takes to do a resto like that is tremendous.
Nice except for the repop exhaust would have to have that for the price
A beautiful and technically advanced little bike. No wonder Japan whooped the British bike industries ass all those years ago.
Hey Jon how much would that sell for
This one sold for $10,000
Nice how does the reproduction exhaust hold up
@@sll-tt6bjthey seem very well made. I have no long term info on them as I sell the bikes as soon as they are finished.
I buy them from David Silver Spares and I trust them not to sell me junk.
Hello Jon, who does the speedometer restoration?
I buy a new face decal on eBay and take the speedometer apart, check and lubricate everything, install the new decal and then put the speedo back together. It is a pain to do but the results are worth it.
Can you do mine?
Btw… I just purchase a 63 CB77 with matching frame n engine #…. However, some people said frame n engine never match… is that true?
@@badboysin IIRC, "normally" frame and engine match. However, in a few cases, engines do not pass final inspection, so are replaced with another production engine.
how much?
It was auctioned off on Bring a Trailer in November 2023. It sold for $10k
I’m working on a couple of 1965 superhawks that will be done early in 2024.
nice wow they are getting expensive @@kosmjon2
I don't think that you-re gone recap your money on this one. Looks good, but how many people will spend on 1963 Hondas.
You will be surprised. Baby boomers at the peak of their earning years want to re-live their teens.
Beautiful.
