Goodness. the sweet sound of my youth. Back in the 70's I had a Suzuki 500 just like the one in this video and my brother had a GT250 "Ram Air"...great fun, although a tad wiggly in the turns. We buzzed around North Norfolk on those smokers. Awesome video Mike!

That's the bluest sky I have ever seen. I still have many memories of those old two strokes. I still have my 87 RZ350, and it's always a pleasure to ride it.

After a better look at those Suzuki's, stunning restoration work. I sure hope you get to ride the X-6 which was the first fast bike I rode as a teenager. It's quite an experience.

Pretty bikes. Reminds me of when I was stationed in the Philippines during Vietnam. The post exchange in Subic Bay had a sales agency for bikes, and I remember seeing these bikes fresh off the boat being uncrated for display.
In east Germany, they used to drive cars powered by big 2 strokes engines. The most popular car was the Trabant 🚗. I remember when I heard the cars leaving all at once when the traffic lights turned to green at a corner of a main boulevards near the Brandebourg door in Berlin on a cold January afternoon, I though it was a start of a snowmobiles race. I was traveling in Central Europe during the first Golf war (Koweït war).

Quite a few years ago I found a can of 30 weight Castrol R left over from my 2-stroke racer days. I couldn't resist putting a touch of it my lawnmowers fuel tank. My neighbors never understood my grin while mowing the lawn. 😜

Great Smoky stuff. I road raced 125 & 250 Yamaha's from 1973 till 1999, and many other machines. Nothing like Castrol R and the cylinders clearing out to lofty RPMs first thing in the morning. Ringy dingy ding indeed. 🇯🇵🇺🇲✌️👍
Love them two strokes, I guess Mike your not used to getting the revs up that high, my little Honda 400 four red lines at 10.000 and it doesn’t come alive till it hits 6.000, I love it, I’ve always had high revving Japanese machines, and love them, but would still like a Triumph Daytona 500 and would have to get used to lower revs,😂🤣 cheers Mike. 👍🇬🇧
My first bike was a 250x6scrambler. I could ride with anyone. That 500, I think would smoke all the other bikes. That's a lot of power!
Just saw a perfect like new Yamaha RD 350 at the Ace cafe in Orlando, Fl. Last Thursday night. Brings back memories!

Compared to the bikes you usually ride, the two-stroke must have been a very different power band!
My buddy had an x6 hustler we skipped school and went on a lot of long rides on it. Very fast for the year1970
To this day i still hover two fingers over the clutch because of my days on 2 stroke time bombs lol
@@bogmanstar889 Hi ,i can only speak from my experience which was mainly tuned air cooled vespas ,on these you could check for air leaks by removing the gearbox oil fill plug and if the engine picked up revs it means the crankshaft seal had gone or by spraying wd40 at the base of the carb to see if it made the engine die ,but mainly if i did any changes i would have it dyno tuned to make sure all the jetting and mixtures were right , things to listen for when riding are pinking or engine revs not dying down as usual when shutting off ,i hope this helps cheers

Can't beat the 2-strokes for sound, smell and fun....... I still have several in the stable. Now, if you want some real fun, ask him if you can ride that H1 he's got sitting in the garage. (make sure your affairs are in order first). Thanks for the video.
Had the privilege of riding both these bikes, on two different rides with Sam. Your video brings me right back, with what looks to be the same ride we went on. I was literally pinching myself the whole time, riding through beautiful snow capped moutains, with trees and rivers. Can't remember the CC's on these bike's, but the orangish Suzuki was the bigger bike of the two, and ran like a dream. The blue bike was a high rever, and was a blast to ride. Flicking it around those mountain roads was a gas. I'm an old motocross racer, so the 2 strokes and I go hand and hand.
The noise, the smoke, the smell, I want to go back. Thank you Sam, you are an incredible person !!!

I learned how to ride on a 68 250 Suzuki.
Nice bikes Mike, and hearing this sound gave me back the nostalgic feelings of the late 70's when I rode to the pub with my friends. I was riding the Moto Guzzi 250 TS 2 stroke at the time. 😃
Wonderful sounds and amazing views of those mountains in the distance . Every man and his dog had a 2 stroke in the 70s . Not many had T500s .. my friend raced one but it couldn't compete with the Yamahas .

Life is too short for regrets but I do have a twinge of regret at not having a 2 stroke in my youth. My leaf blower is a 2 stroke but I guess that doesn’t really count ? 🤪🇬🇧🏍

That gold bike at the start looks like the Suzuki Titan 500. I learnt to ride on one of those after helping my friend get it running again. Lovely smooth bikes once you learnt not to give too much throttle at the start and flooding it.

Can you tell me the difference between the 500 Cobra and the later T500 Titan?
I'm not sure myself but I heard that Suzuki needed to change the name due to it already being used by Ford. But I'm sure that there were also technical enhancements. Cheers

right freaking ni, one of my favourites, well anything Suzuki and two stroke baby 🍼, the I’ve Still got to get my Suzuki gt250k built up and on the road after her 10 year nut and bolt 🔩 resto. I’m so freaking jealous of yuz yuyz....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Freaking loved this video man, please please please do way more videos of the strokers and show me every one of those beautiful bikes, with really slow walk arounds and close ups.

Brings back memories.Had a '71 T500.
The T 500 was a hammer! In the mid eighties I rode a Kawa H2, she was quite venomous and she was good for a lot of unexpected wheelies even in third gear. But when it came to starting at a traffic light she was unmatched. I used to utilize castor oil, that TT-smell was unrivalled.

I remember well chasing them down on my Triumph Bonnie going up the Loch Lomond road back in the early Seventies,God they could shift but then corners for them were challenging,by the time I reached Tyndrum they were far behind😂😂😂
My first bike was a 1964 Yamaha YDS3 250cc. That 2 stroke started it all 50 years ago.
Nope can't say that I like them. I have my reasons. they sound like a glorified chainsaws. I also have reason to not like the Japanese manufactures. Sorry to be so negative, but I can not help it. Also my Uncles fought against the Japanese during the war. Sorry!
Every kid that started riding in the 70’s probably started on a small two stroke lie those thanks to the them flooding the car market as cheap work commuters. In cities that were expanding suburbs developments and before good transport infrastructures were built they were the bees knees for every office and factory dad and by the seventies just about every suburban home had one tucked away at the back of the garage.
The one I owned had a six speed gear box that “rotated” through from sixth directly back to first. A lot of fun if I ever forgot exactly what hi gear I was in at speed.
