I sold Suzuki’s during the summer’s of 66 & 67 while i was in High School. The candy apple red one’s were the hardest to get from Suzuki and, therefore, the most desirable. The largest Honda dealer in the State was located one street north of our dealership. We used to hunt and destroy 305 Super Hawks…it was so much fun! The fit and finish of the Suzuki was far superior to the Honda back then, also. With the many English, Italian, Japanese and American bikes available then it was truly the “golden age” of motorcycles! So much fun…

What a spectacular bike! A true piece of vintage mechanical art. Your attention to detail and build perseverance are really commendable. Congratulations on keeping this relatively rare example on the road.

Great Bike. I had one in 1967-68 in Tachikawa, Japan. Six speed and fast. Mine was also red/chrome. Brings back lots of memories. Thanks.

I had a Suzuki T20 Racing bike made to the factory replica specs and it made about 38bhp , it was 1969 and it was not able to beat the Yamaha TD1Cs and the later TD2, was still a good base bike and I have the bits rebuilt to standard T20 using all the stuff that came off it then.

Back in my youth the x6 was quite the road rocket, there were quite a few 2 strokes back in the late 60s, early 70s those were good days, my choices were a Kaw F5 or a Kaw Mach 3,same price but I'm still alive so I chose wisely..........

It looks like the T20 suffered the same issue I had with the T250 model that followed it, that being screwing the steel collar of the exhaust onto an alloy bore, the steel tore off the alloy thread within weeks. I've seen all sorts of attempts to resolve it but yours looks like one of the best, certainly better than the heat resistant tape I wrapped over the threads back in the early eighties, which was unsightly.

Smokes just like mine did! I remember it had a worm screw to dump oil into the gas....

It also injected oil directly to the main bearings with the banjo fittings. They were a tough engine and were very quick on road or track. I know because I had one in 1966 and kept it for years.

out of idle curiousity, did you consider a t500 plus new pipes? much easier way to get similar performance
