Dude thank you so much for reacting to Tim Buckley. He's undoubtedly one of the greatest voices of the past century yet very few people know of him. This is my favorite album of his, I highly recommend 'Make It Right' and 'Get on Top'. Two amazing songs that show his incredible vocal abilities. Cheers!
You're right Bonzo's Sticks, Make it right and Get on top are amazing and Night hawkin' too and Move with me. One of the greatest album ever, one of the greatest singer and artist ever.
Love this album, I found Tim after listening to his son Jeff. Song of the Siren by Tim is another great 👍 th-cam.com/video/vMTEtDBHGY4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9nRztYhJN45JIS7e
I met Tommie Lee at a shoot for British rock mag years ago. My son was the photographer and he did the shoot at his house. After the work I walked Tommie out to his car. Black Mercedes 2 seater.I ask him what music he liked at the moment. He said Jeff Buckley! I said, so you must like his dad, Tim. He says, I never heard of his dad! I said, you live in LA and like Jeff but never heard of Tim! Wow. Here, take this CD. I had some Tim Buckley cds with me! I gave him HoneyMan! Hope he liked it!
Tim had a spectacular voice with a highly underrated discography. He was very ahead of his time. "I Must've Been Blind" and "Monterrey" (to display his sheer vocal mastery) i would highly recommend. Great reaction!
THANK YOU, CHOD!! No one does Tim!! The live version of "Song to the Siren" from the end of a Monkees show is a must. (Shows how hip the Monkees were!) Hope you do more of Tim's music. "Sally Go 'Round The Roses" and I Must Have Been Blind" are also great, as is every other tune mentioned in th3e comments. I did see Tim live at my college decades ago. No words can describe the vibe!!
Thank you for recognizing the amazing talent and musicianship of Tim Buckley!! Listen to anything LIVE from either Tim or Jeff. Both are once in a lifetime vocal gymnasts in range and improvising!!!
His son Jeff got the hype, but Tim was the business. Amazing voices, both of them, but (IMO) Tim's was better. Both died far too soon. Try Tim's song "Move With Me".
Couldn't agree more. People also used to say Hendrix was the John Coltrane of the electric guitar, that's why Miles Davis wanted to work with him. @@sebatianalvarado7171
one of my top 5 favourite records .. greetings from LA '74 .. fist time i heard it in mid 70s was hooked on it ... Tims voice is compared to say Roy buchanan , j hendrix etc guitar .... whayever they could do on the guitar ... Tim could do with his voice ... the whol record from start to finish is a classic ... this would me in any person whos older record collection .. us old timers know this album so well .. its a classic .. jeff is not as good as his dad but most dont know tim buckley .. go listen to whole album ...
I'm not familiar with him. Of course, I had to search about him. I see that he died in 1975 at the age of 28 from a heroin and morphine overdose. I also see that his son is Jeff Buckley who died at the age of 30 from drowning. I am familiar with him, epecially his version of "Hallelujah", which is a favorite version of many. Very haunting. He is also known for his voice.
So happy that you found this amazing song. It's been a part of my life since 1987 and I'll be forever grateful to my ex for playing it so loud upstairs when we were house mates. It was hard to find back in the day before the internet. A wonderfully deep reaction.
My Dad got me into Tim Buckley. I remember being a teenager in the early 90s and everyone was going on about Jeff Buckley, had no idea it was Tim's son. Tragic tale, those two. Still to this day, very few people know and/or remember Tim. What a musician. Unbelievable.
To see you enjoying yourself like that brought a smile to my face. I’m more of a heavy/doom/death metal girl, but this tune knocked me down 👍🏼👌🏼truly a masterpiece
Good afternoon. The Tim Buckley tunes that I think are good from earlier days would be strange feeling. The later album that I feel had a few good tunes are lool at the fool. The title song I really like. I think there are a couple more tracks on that album, pretty good. I could see where his son Jeff got his vocal chops. Love Jeff Buckley. Check out the Grace vid, also so real and last goodbye. appreciate you. Thank you 😊
My Brother, how excited i am to see you react to this Classic. My fav, all time. That album wirh the post card is in demand. I had it. This is coming from a 71 bi- racial male. Rock on Bro, rayray ✊✌️🤙🤘😎
Considered as one of the best male voices of the 20th century in popular music……often spoken of in the same breath as Freddie Mercury. Not similar voices, but similar,y great.
He's has less octaval range than Freddie, but probably more inflections and overall vocal ability. He surpasses Jeff for registers entered. Tim could mimic car horns, trains sirens and the street life of Anaheim where he grew up. I'd imagine about one in 500 million can actually do all of that. Tim is up there with Freddy for real.
You can find a couple of bootleg recordings taken from when Jeff attended his fathers Tribute Concert held at St Ann's Church in Brooklyn on 26th April, 1991. I think that was the only time he ever covered Tim's music. He did about 4 songs. Most of the musician audience didn't even know Tim had a son and Jeff left everyone stunned...(especially by his uncanny resemblance to Tim). Only a few still photos from the gig of him. This helped him on his path to fame.
Chod, Ty so much for this. His two big ones on this album are Get on Top and Move with me. Please cover one of these. They’re better songs than this one.
@@celesteciaccia7368 Yes, although for me Happy Sad and Blue Afternoon were high points. He seemed to settle into the poor musicality of it just then before going off into Dolphin hugging and esoteric sex (not that I'm saying there was anything wrong with Dolphin hugging and esoteric sex!)
'Chaud'... Did you know, that's French for 'HOT'? :)LOL(: I've heard you say your name a bunch of times and I wondered at the spelling of it a couple times and the smile came to mind (you could spell your name that way and point it out at opportune moments... :) Not a fan of Buckley, but a fan of your channel! :)
Song to the Siren or Once I Was are just simply amazing. His son had a better voice but Tim both wrote and sung from the heart. Along with Nick Drake, John Martyn, Neil Young and Jackson Browne are my favourites of the era sadly not all of them made it through.
"His son had a better voice." Don't be absurd, Tim Buckley had a four octave range. Having been a huge admirer of his father, I always tried desperately to like Jeff Buckley, but in the end always found him to be nothing more than a deeply unsatisfying, conservative, pale imitation of his father. By the age of thirty Buckley Jnr had managed to release only one official studio album in his lifetime, whereas Buckley Snr who died at the age of 28 released nine official albums that ran the spectrum of folk, psychedelia, jazz, r 'n' b, Latino rock, electronica, avant garde and rock 'n' roll and posthumously added to this canon of masterpieces, with the sublime 'Dream Letter: Live in London 1968.'
@@daubreyjaneweirdsley Completely agree. Jeff was certainly a bloody good singer, and shaping up to be great - but his singing was still not fully developed at the time of his tragic death, as if he was still exploring what it could do. Jeff was a force of nature, who could do anything with his voice, and always sounded uncannily otherworldly.

No wonder that his son received this from him. Even not having raised Jeff, the "blood" (DNA) spoke louder, or, better saying, sang louder.

Such a beautiful voice you can hear that where his son gained his voice.

Agreed with that live version on the Monkees show. My favorite
At last! I didn't think any reactor would do Tim Buckley. I bought this album over 40 years ago and it's still one of my favorites.
I've been recommending this for a couple of years now but only discovered some people have FINALLY done it. and hopefully his son also!!! So happy!

You better sing Tim!!!
"move with me" on this album was very controversial in '73....about being in love with a black woman.....great song!
Great song.
What a cool band backing him up. Love that backing track.
Get on top from the same album is a real classic. RIP Tim Buckley. Way ahead of his time.
"Move with me" is another goody

You got it Chod voice as instrument. Buckley was once asked who does your voice sound like or influenced by, he said John Coltrane.

Tim had an incredible FIVE and a HALF octave range!! ... according to his official website.

Tim Buckley was an early hero in my life, glad that you found him. If you ever venture back to him try "I Never Asked to be Your Mountain "
THANK YOU for sharing Tim's music!
Both Buzzin fly & Dolphins by Tim are good ones too 👍

I had one of his albums and I remember a song on it called, I think, "Once I Was". Good song. Never thought I'd see you react to him. Nice.

You were ALMOST blindsided. This is probably the most PG song on the album. One of the greatest albums of my lifetime. Still have the album postcard.
EL MAS GRANDE
I think his most exquisite song is Song To The Siren.
Brilliant album way different from what he had been doing before, fantastic insight into life on the dark side

I'd add the too-frequently overlooked Fred Neil to that - another singer that needs to have some reaction videos!

I don't knnw if Jeff sang any of his father's songs, but it would be interesting to compare them together.

Try Strange Feeling from Happy Sad. Its much better. In fact its brilliant.
