It's a shame very little footage of him exist because from those few videos that do exist, he's so passionate when he performs. His face is dripping with sweat, his eyes are closed, his whole body moves with the music even though he's sitting down playing his guitar. Very passionate performer indeed.

Cheers Nick. Unfortunately there's not too many live visual recordings of Tim. None that I can find of this live show in London. The album is amazing though. Wanted you to get a small live introduction to his voice first. There's another one coming that is a visual recording called Honeyman in 1974. And in that one you will hear Jeff's famous scream (yes Tim is Jeff's dad). He was definitely ahead of his time. He ventured in to so many genres in such a small time (8yrs or so) Folk, jazz, soul, funk. Another amazing talent gone too soon.

Tim Buckley is one of the greatest ... started as a folk singer then progressed to jazzy stuff then Blues rock funk soul stuff. Bought the Live in london Dream Letter album for my Mum, who was in London and into the folk scene at the time , se said she couldnt believe how she missed knowing about him .. he probably flew under the radar early on. And yes he is Jeffs father, but Jeff only met him once , shows how voice and talent can pass from generation to generation. Check out some later stuff too "Get on Top" particularly outrageous vocals. Also love his song The River, and the Dream Letter version of cover song ''Dolphins".

I am a diehard fan of Donny Hathaway & Stevie Wonder. I say that to say for years, Tim Buckley was my favorite vocalist of all-time. There are technically better singers out there, but the way Tim pushed the boundaries vocally and musically puts him in a category of his own. Sad that so few know about him. He has sooo much more in his vocal bag that wasn't shown here. Awesome breakdown & analysis 🙏🏽

"Oh how I wish I could see this" I've felt that way many times listening to the Buckleys haha. It's part of their mystique and it's an endless rabbit hole.

Here’s a Tim Buckley suggestion for you - “Gypsy Woman - Live at The Troubador”. His vocal gymnastics are off the chart & flow into another dimension.

My two favorites are Phantasmagoria in Two and Song to the Siren. Yes, Tim is Jeff's dad.

That is jeff buckleys father. If you wanna see a good quality video of him playing then check out his performance of dolphins live. Very soulful.

I was there when this was recorded and it was half a pick up band and at times you can hear Tim cueing the musicians and humming melodies before they start.
Incredible voice and the way he rises and falls and I think he was just 22 when he recorded that.

I introduced Tommy Lee to Tim years ago. Gave him a HoneyMan cd. He knew of Jeff and was into Jeff at the time. I said you must like his dad then.he said he knows nothing about his dad. I said, you living in LA, likes Jeff’s music but know nothing about Tim? I just happen to have the cd with me. This was at my sons home in LA. Tommy was there for photo shoot for British rock mag. Tommy, the regular guy.😂true story. Tim was great.

There are at least a couple of Tim performing live on YT (this one is on a soundstage: th-cam.com/video/vMTEtDBHGY4/w-d-xo.html but still live). His musical style constantly changed over his career, from folk to freeform to innovative jazz).

There's a video of Tim performing Song To The Siren (which, I believe, Robert Plant described as the most beautiful song ever written)on the Monkees TV show. A much more muted performance than this one, but still very much worth your time.

I love Tim Buckley's voice but it seems like most people would prefer if he toned it down but Tim wouldn't compromise his passion so its up to us to expand our listening

What a tortured soul Tim was. So much pain in his voice. So much talent.

The first time I heard this, I started crying uncontrollably. If you're a singer, you know, right? The power, the emotion, the originality, etc...by the way, Tim was 21 when he recorded this.

Yes, that was Tim Buckley in the photograph, taken about 1968. He would pass on in 1975.

Thank you! This man's talent was huge and his songs were unique. He should be remembered and enjoyed always. We lost him and his son too soon.

Wonderful to see a reaction to this one. Recorded in 1968, this was Tim's first ever gig in England, and he was 20 years old. A simply phenomenal talent.
