"Be your own couple and reject the advice of the rest of the world."

I agree with you so much that I have to say it again: this advice is comforting, grounding, true, and probably the best dating advice for me to have heard at this time in my life.

I was with a woman for five years. I won't say that my autism didn't cause friction but she learned to accept me in time. We broke up simply because we were at different places in our lives and we are still good friends. It is possible for people like us to be in relationships.

Dating for me have always been a mess, I don’t like talking so much I find it extremely boring and listening to what other people has to say it legit hardest thing ever, even if I rly try to care and listen my brain just turns off and says “nope u don’t care about this so I’m gonna put ur ears on rest mode” lmao

I think the one thing that everyone needs to realize as an aspie is that everything is learnable, even if it may not be easy. You know yourself better than anyone else. If you want to succeed in an area of life, do research, find out the steps necessary then act on it. And learn from your mistakes as much as you can. Don't compare yourself to anyone else, and realize that you do deserve success and love in life because you are a caring and loving person. You are a human being with feelings and desires, and so you deserve everything coming your way.
That also reminds me too of a comment that I read on youtube, and it's stuck with me ever since. This user claimed he was an aspie and he said the following. "I am neurodiverse, but I am not broken." Those words have stuck with me ever since..

Love how I just got some of the best dating advice I've ever heard from an aspie. This is something I've felt for a while but have never really articulated. Beautifully said, thank you.

good common sense stuff. And I get tired of hearing married pastors telling singles how to behave and go about dating, or courting.
