I was molested as a child at church and that ignited a fire that it's taken decades to extinguish. As a female, my drive was off the charts! I could never be satisfied. It almost destroyed me. I wish this never happened to me. But I have no excuse now that I know Christ. Sexual sin is the worst. It can lead to a long road of depression and self-loathing. Run as fast as you can from sexual sin.

I even heard there are women who become promiscuous ( sp ? ) after having been raped.
But it makes sense. Even though you feel disgusted mentally and emotionally, but you learned how it feels physically, and if a person feels physical pleasure when molested or raped, it is not, and I repeat, not their fault, they cannot comtrol what it feels like downstairs, but what you feel nentally and emotionally is what matters, and if it is against your will, yes, you will feel worse than filthy abd you will feel unexplainable trauma.
I mean, people can consent one minute, and feel dirty and ashamed later as a sign of conviction, but when you never gave permission from get go, the difference is, it is not your fault.
So, it makes sense it ignites as fire, a major wild fire for some, after molestation and rape. But unless someone is in Christ and has enough knowledge, some survivors feel like too damaged of goods so what is the point in not having sex.
It really needs to be on the forefront for those who sleep around due to trauma how to regain purity that is stolen from them that they not give away.

@@thebeatagp AMEN brother Allen Parr I really appreciate your Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content for the furtherance of The Gospel I've been watching your videos the past two years. You're exactly right sexual sin is destroying the trust our brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord have in each other and God's Existence, Character and Will being revealed through Creation, history and His Word.
ATHEISM AIN'T GOT NOTHING NEW OR BETTER TO OFFER THAN THE VERY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS THEY'RE CRITICAL OF SO IT'S HYPOCRISY AT IT'S FINEST 😂. Hello this is for all you Atheists, unbelievers and skeptics. I'm going to address a few misconceptions and lies about God's Character and His Word. The Bible doesn't support chattel slavery or anything else Immoral. Ok so Atheists and unbelievers say God is either Immoral, incompetent or not responsible so let's see what The Scriptures actually say. God revealed himself and created a nation in a real, historical context. It was a world with a slave-based economy, with city states often at war with each other, with polygamous marriages to ensure the continuation of family lines. The laws of the Old Testament regulate this behaviour. Slaves are to be treated humanely (Exodus 21:11). They are given rights and not seen as mere possessions. Hebrew slaves were able to buy their own freedom. Human trafficking is condemned (Exodus 21:16). In contrast to the law code of Babylon, Old Testament Israel was a light to the nations. The Old Testament law and narratives do not stand alone. Jesus is now the best example of what we read. So the moral teaching of the Bible cannot be summarised by a quote taken out of context from the Old Testament to demonize God and His Word. Slavery was permitted in Old Testament law but it was regulated by God giving the Israelites instructions on how to fairly and humanely treat their slaves (it was like indentured servitude where someone could work for you if they owed debts or needed income not cruel like chattel slavery). God allowed the people of Israel to own slaves since they themselves has already experienced over 400 years of generations of Egyptian slavery and knew how inhumane it was to be beaten, overworked and taxed so God set them apart from other nations and cultures around them by giving them a fair way to treat their slaves since slavery had already existed in the world but it doesn't mean God condoned it just used it for His Will to bring Good And in the light of the whole scriptural teaching, we find the reasons for its ultimate abolition (Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 4:1-3; Philemon 15-16 and Galatians 3:28). The Word of God provided the moral standard against slavery in the Roman Empire and against the slave trade in the New World.
But what of genocide or holy war in the book of Joshua? Several things could be pointed out. The use of warfare in the ancient world did not always mean literal total destruction, even when events are described in such terms. Furthermore, the book of Joshua does not describe a genocide. It is not a race who are being wiped out, as in genocide, but a religious practice which was often appalling and degrading. Those who repent (like Rahab from Jericho or Ruth) are not destroyed but become part of Israel. It is not the racial group that is in view but their "detestable practices".
However, after all is said, we must still acknowledge that God brought judgment on the nations of Canaan. It is not our place as believers isn't to sugar-coat the Bible. For some skeptics, this is enough to make God a moral monster. But the fact is that Jesus continued to affirm that God is a Judge who will bring a future judgment on all peoples and all nations. God’s judgment will be just. The list of Old Testament stories rejected by critics often leads to a similar dismissal of the New Testament teaching of Jesus on the existence of hell.
After all, what was the Flood of Genesis or the conquest of Joshua if not a glimpse of future judgment? Hell does not demonstrate cruelty on God’s part, but it does demonstrate His Holiness and our moral accountability. Perhaps this is the real reason many people rail against the God of the Bible? It is not that they think He is a moral monster, but that they are afraid He is a moral Judge, and that has implications for our behaviour now. God is an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being and we as His creatures have Eternal souls and spirits so the punishment for our sins against Him must therefore also be Eternal but so must the reward for righteousness that's why He sent His Son Jesus to live a perfectly righteous and sinless Life (which none of us could ever possibly expect to do) suffer the humiliating and torturous death of crucifixion to shed His Own Blood willingly so that all who willingly accept His gift of salvation by grace through faith in Him will be saved and given Eternal life because that's what God wants is for us to willingly accept His gift of salvation and choose life. Exodus 21:20-21 literally speaks about capital punishment befalling anyone who mistreats their slaves so yes people are taking Scripture out of context to demonize God who literally promises that slaves who are mistreated under someone else's authority is to be avenged. When we hear the word “slavery” we think of innocent human beings, kept prisoner for life, having no rights under law and so reduced to animals. This is clearly immoral because it is unjust: the slave has done nothing to deserve the treatment.
The situation described as “slavery” in the Bible was nothing like this. It is more accurately described as one of indentured servitude. Many “slaves” were indentured servants, working for a term of years
Some other “slaves” were prisoners. There were no prisons. Prisoners had to work to live like everyone else. Some had life sentences. Some served a term and were released.
People didn't beat their good slaves but treated them well and protected their assets thus.
But no matter how rebellious a slave was, you couldn't just beat them to death. And if you knocked out their tooth or damaged their eye then you had to set them free. (Exodus 21:26). God wasn't using what other nations did because He wanted to set His Chosen People of Israel apart from the cruel, inhumane and unjust systems other cultures had so He gave them a fair way to treat their slaves and servants.
There is a lot of ignorance on this topic which is understandable given the age we live in but it's not the nefarious set up we think of when we think of modern slavery. The question Atheists must ask themselves is how come the Jews aren't being accused of slavery and human trafficking if they're guilty of it in The Bible and why would white slave owners rip out pages from The Old and New Testament Scriptures to justify their owning blacks as slaves if The Bible already justified slavery?

@@chriskhall It definitely happened. I knew I believed the Gospel and that Jesus was the only One who I could go to for eternal life, but I questioned how could I be saved and continue in this sin, especially when I was consistently trying to decipher fruit in my life. It wasn’t until I fully kept my eyes on the fact that Jesus’ sacrifice and shed blood is where I needed to keep my gaze and held onto the promises God makes in His word and wrestled with them that I started to experience true freedom and lasting freedom from that sin.
I’ve done so many programs and they did contain helpful principles, but truly, I can only credit the supernatural grace of Jesus and believing in His promises and, like the persistent widow, holding on to those promises. @@chriskhall hey, man! I can tell you that I've never doubted God's Grace to save me, but I definitely questioned if I loved God many times. I was confronted by John 14:23 all the time, because I knew what I was doing couldn't be justified by scriptures and I was too addicted to quit. I've battled many times with pornography, but every time, I've left a door open just in case I wanted to come back to it. The last time I decided to quit for good when I was reading the Bible, 2 Co 6:13 to be exact. Those words spoke differently to me, and I took the USB where I stored all the pornography and wiped it clean. I've deleted all searches and apps that would make me fall into pornography again and I threw away all the vaseline that I used to masturbate. I've also told my family that I had decided to quit it for good and told them all the traps that made me want to watch pornography and masturbate. One of them was when I was alone at home. So I made a commitment with them to exercise, study or clean the place to avoid being tempted. In this battle, you'll want someone to help watch your back.
Yesterday, it was a tough day. I had urges throughout the day, but God gave me grace and I was able to avoid it.
I started watching pornography and masturbating in a period where I wasn't praying and reading the Bible. I'd only do it when I ate or went to church.
Now, I understand that if I want to be excellent I must walk in the spirit (Galatians 5:16).
If you're struggling with it, don't think twice. Throw away anything that will take your mind to these practices, talk to someone from the body of Christ (James 5:16), and start praying and studying the Bible more. For 6 years, I couldn't see a way out, but God is patient. I don't even know if you're struggling with it. I hope not, because I know how terrible this is. But if you are, God loves you, brother. He wouldn't have sent His Son if He didn't.

Exactly, "But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed." (James 1:14, BSB). But you don't correct the bad desires by only running away. That's only half of it. True freedom comes when you eliminate the wayward desire, that's what we ought to strive for and it is seldom, if ever, taught by Christian preachers.

    • @josephbrandenburg4373
      @josephbrandenburg4373 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@wendyw3230 This is my opinion, but I hope it is a good one:
      1) Pray and pray honestly
      2) Believe God's promises. For me this also includes being on guard against feeling resentful towards God that I haven't got what I want yet.
      3) Recognize the good desires behind the evil desires. Satan doesn't have his own clay to work with, he has to twist something good that God made. Sinful desire is something that causes us to sin and robs us of the good thing we're taking the sin as a substitute for.
      4) Read the Bible - especially for me Gal. 5 and the psalms and proverbs have been helpful.
      5) Love your neighbor- this means seeing the whole person when you see an attractive figure- not just the external but the spirit as well. Treat them as you would if you were there in person and you knew their name and their story and could look them in the eye. This will make you uncomfortable when you're tempted to treat them as a sex-object, and you either have to supress their personhood and continue or stop.
      6) Meditate on the spousal language of the New Testament. "Bride of Christ" and the like. This one is a bit more difficult because it's all very mysterious and clearly it isn't exactly the same thing. But the desire we have for a human wife/husband is a mere shadow of the desire we have for the divine reality.
Almost all of this is observations I got from Christopher West, who has a youtube channel called Theology of the Body Institute. It's great stuff. It's a Catholic channel, so if you're not Catholic (I'm not) you may have to filter out some of the weird Mary stuff. Best of luck to you.

@@12Messenger Yeah, is another reason not to do it outside of a committed relationship for life (marriage). It makes the pain once the bond is broken even greater than it should have been. Not only because it creates these bigger attachments but also it can happen with bad relationships with sex making a bad relationship for a good one. So a bad relationship that would have been easy to break up cuz is clearly bad, becomes har cuz it feels good cuz of sex.
I know a personal example of a friend whom the girlfriend got so emotionally attached to him (not to say dependant) that she barely was letting him have his own life. Everytime i met him at some point he was texting her to tell her "he was ok" and what he was doing. I got to meet her and i saw that the concern for his well being is genuine but pathologially high. He grew tired of it and broke up with her. She cried a lot called him back crying promising to change and he gave her a 2nd chance. I know they were dating for a year before if happened, and having sex. There's no way if he wasn't feeling closer to her as he would have been if not having sex, he would have taken this long to break up an unhealthy relationship for both. Honestly, as his friend i'm now rooting against this relationship cuz i know how when one of them has this dependence, is never good for any of'em

Most of my urges seem to hit me in the middle of the night, I get woken up out of my sleep with strong urges, I literally have to flip over and begin praying for sustainment that I don't fall. When I have fallen, and sexual sin sometimes becomes habitual, my confidence in Jesus goes down, I don't feel unashamed, I more ashamed, not because of Him but because I feel like I don't deserve to represent Him, so I go into solitude. The desire to fall into drinking habits picks up again, every sin it seems just seems that more enticing because my power feels drained after a sexual fall. I needed this video so bad, thank you brother Allen.

One of the ways that I was able to "overcome" (still struggle with sexual sin), was when I started to confess my sin. That's one of the areas that we, as Christian Men, struggle with... confessing our sins one to another. We fall into the pride of not wanting to show our weaknesses one to another. I work with guys who are drug addicts and alcoholics... I needed to confess my struggles with them and when I did so, I started to overcome, by the grace of God and the strength of the Holy Spirit and certainly NOT by my own strength. I lost that battle for years.

People can’t constantly make excuses of keep going back to the things that’s not pleasing to the Almighty Father.
My prayer when I realize I can’t be doing these sexual things is for God to take those feelings away and sure enough he did and I only pray that one time and it was answered. The timing on this is incredible. Here's something I shared with brothers yesterday from my own battles with sexual immorality:
"1 Corinthians 6:18 says that sexual immorality is sinning against our own bodies. And given that sin is deadly, here are 5 things sexual immorality kills:

    3. Clear Conscience/Thoughts: Each moment surrendered to sexual immorality is embedded in the memory and develops beliefs and instincts that serve to perpetuate it.
    4. Faithful Body: Each time my mind is consumed or body is touched by a hand that doesn't belong to my (future) spouse, they are being habituated to defraud God and my spouse their rights to my body.

How do romance novels factor into it? I love reading and romance is by far my favorite genre (both Christian romance and secular), but I've been told that it's a form of sexual sin... Then would murder mysteries be equivalent to murder? Why are there Christian romances? Is it ok to read stories where people fall into sin or if they are victims of sin? I'm a foster parent and some kids are victims of sin, sexual and otherwise, and we have to hear their stories. Is romance sinful because it gives you unrealistic expectations of your spouse? But what if you read a book about a millionaire? Do you expect to become a millionaire and get disappointed if you don't? Is it sinful to watch romantic comedies (pretty much romance novels made into movies)?
All the reasons that you give not to fall into sexual sin (STIs, unwanted pregnancy, etc) isn't present when reading a book. They are just like listenting to someone else's life story and they often give great examples of mistakes to avoid (like, don't lie to or keep secrets your spouse, that's where most stories go wrong). And my Church has a whole romance novel section in the library... It's a bit confusing... I understand that Christian romance novels skip details that secular novels include and though they often give into sexual sin, they repent from it, and in secular novels it's seen as normal... but I've grown up knowing that you should never have sex outside marriage so I know that it's wrong, but I also know that that's not how most of the world views it. It feels like you're sticking your head in the sand to pretend that it doesn't happen. And I really don't know how that would apply when comparing it to murder mysteries (which my husband reads). It's not like they think about murder but just don't commit it because it's a Christian novel. It's often just as graphic, even though it's dealing with a sin topic. Not that I'm advocating for sex scenes in novels, I could do without them, they are cringy and makes it seem like the characters don't actually love each other and are just looking for sexual gratification, I just want the lovey dovey warm feelings that you just can't get from mystery or action.

I don't really understand what "sexual sin" even is. I really don't. The more I research the Bible, the less it makes sense to me. I'm trying to grow as a Christian but I'm finding myself more irritated. There is so much that just makes little sense to me. A lot of "codes of conduct" or "principles for life" predate the Bible. So, how do we really know what is in the Bible is supposed to be applicable for now and not just what was practical for the times they were living in? The only reason that makes sense to me why sexual sin would even exist is because men needed to know who their children were. They had to clamp down on the sexuality of women in order for men to know who their seeds are. That makes sense to me.
For example, my understanding is that Mary was about 14 when she engaged to Joseph and pregnant with Jesus. My understanding is that Mary only being 14 and engaged would not have been unusual. Also, her being pregnant would not have been unusual either except for the part that they weren't married yet. If they were already married...and she was pregnant at 14 that would not have been crazy. My point is that it wouldn't have been unusual during Biblical times for people between 14-18 to be sexual. It was not unusual to be married at those ages so it was typical for someone in those ages to be sexual. This makes sense to me. Based on biology...it makes total sense to me that people during those ages would be sexual. The only thing that changed between now and back then is that people choose to wait until later for the marriage part. Maybe because we live longer now.
My point is that I'm not sure Christian churches are going about things the right way. They are shaming people for things that are natural. It is natural to have certain urges in that 14-18 range. As mentioned before...the difference is that people got to satisfy those urges easily back in the day because they would have already been married.
So, I think there needs to be more discussion all around sexuality in general and not from a shaming perspective. It's counterproductive to shame people for something natural. That's why fornication is so common among Christians. It really isn't practical to expect people to wait until ...(whenever they may or may not get married). There is no rule book that says people will even GET married...so people are waiting ...for what exactly?! I'm not suggesting anything by the way. I'm just saying..it seems in theory that people who are exclusive, safe, and committed (but may not necessarily be married yet) should be able to be sexually active just with each other. What do you all think would be the issue?
Also, in theory...women shouldn't probably even be going to college. In theory, they should be preparing themselves to be wives and mothers by 18. In theory...women should be using 18-26 as their years to bring forth children. Which is very opposite to the world we live in today. But...to be fair...men are also expected to be husbands and fathers by 26 too. So...what is the real issue? Have we extended adolescence too long?
If we are here to only worship God does it really matter what our personal happiness even is and should we care about obtaining degrees and making a certain type of money to take care of a family? Is college the real issue? Shouldn't Christian men and women in theory skip college and focus on working labor/manufacturing/farming jobs right out of high school? Shouldn't they be getting married at 18? Is college the real "devil's playground"?
These are thoughts by the way. I'm always thinking about things and doing research. I would love it if anyone would like to contribute and offer up some information. Thanks.

The concept of "sexual sin" isn't exactly easy to nail down. We're not given a definitive list as to what qualifies as a sexual sin. Does it refer only to sexual intercourse or any form of physical intimacy. I think it's safe to say adultery would qualify. And probably intercourse outside of marriage can be considered a sexual sin. But what about all forms of physical intimacy? That's not so easy to determine.

A person might go for a few months or even a year without personal stimulation. The body tenses with so much aggression. I just can’t imagine someone going without pleasure forever in our present bodies. There are people who are aggressive who wants to fight or argue, but as soon as the get pleasured, they’re calm again.

Love it! Thank you for breaking down the effects and consequences of sexual sin in a clear and. concise way that you did. Also thank you for the way that you did not condemn or shame Christians who have committed this sin but providing hope and a path forward.
This series has truly been deep and impactful

Sexual sin is also pornography. For me, pornography is disgusting! I confess that I watched pornography, but now I don't.

You forgot to mention those TBN Heretics Marcus and Joni Lamb, who would only confess Marcus's adultery after being blackmailed for $7,500,000.00!!! Ahhh, for the love of money!!!

For anyone who needs encouragement: Romans 8:18: The pain you've been feeling can't compare to the joy that is coming! John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Whatever you're going through right now, Whatever the storm or trial may be, have faith, your situation will get better if you trust in God..turn away from your sins and sincerly repent of your sins to a Holy and Just God and he will forgive you..accept Jesus as your Savior..believe he died and suffered on the cross and rose on the third day to Heaven and surrender your entire life to him now while you're still breathing and have a chance! BROAD AND WIDE IS THE PATHWAY TO HELL AND NARROW IS THE PATHWAY TO HEAVEN AND FEW SHALL FIND IT! God bless anyone reading this and have an amazing day! 🙏🏾 🥰💖

Thank you Alan another excellent sermon. We all could have used this when we were young. Even our parents didn't teach us such things nor did the church. This was a home run thank you.

I would like to add to '#4 - It damages'. It damages the body indirectly. It doesn't necessarily mean STDs . It could mean loss of 'physical beauty' of the body and other sicknesses. Remember what Paul says about taking part from the Lord's table sinfully. 'Some of you are sick and some of you have died'. Sexual sin literally destroys the body. Also it's written, 'Other sins, you commit out of the body, sexual sin; it's commited against (within) your body'. Pardon me for not quoting the exact bible verses.

Brother once again your message from God has touched my soul. It's crazy how your mind can get lost in the moment when that little bit of pleasure can have a lifetime of repercussions. Sharing that example of a business deal was spot on. People don't like losing money. God bless and continue to share God's word through your ministry.
