I'm a recovering heroin addict and alcoholic sober now for 3,115 days. Even when I was a hardcore addict alchy in the midst of my addiction and in denial I still never hated on anyone who got sober. If anything it got to a appoint where I resented my friends who got sober because I couldn't get and stay sober. But never did I talk shit and call them out like Zakk did to James Hetfield.. but people grow up and learn and apparently Zakk did too. If anything I had and have respect for Hetfield because even recently he started to slip up and realized hes falling back into those old habits, stinking thinking as we call it in recovery, and went back to rehab to address his issues before it got out of control again.

I mean, total opposite for me. I was full blown disgusting alcoholic drug addict. Got my DVT which led to sub segmental Pulmonary embolisms all through both lungs. Was hours from dying. It was just a depraved week of staying inside, using, and drinking. Woke up on the floor after god knows how long I was out, with no idea the time, the day or how long it'd been, all I knew that my lower leg was the size of my thigh and was some of the most excruciating pain I'd been in. I was in the old peoples ward at 29/30. It was fucked. I still didn't get clean after that. But....after a few more failed attempts, finally got somewhere. 2.5 years now. I look back at so many near misses, it's just insane. Don't do it. It's not what you think it is.
I had to quit drinking because of fatty alcohol liver and liver pains at night. The withdrawal was insane at night time. I took phenibut and 5-HTP supplement and magnesium capsules with save me from going back to drinking. It's NO fun being sober after work and weekends with buddies. I want to live to enjoy my pension from job after l retire in few years.

It took a while but now I don't miss it, as a matter of fact I can't stand drunk people now. It takes a while getting use to it but the longer you stay away from alcohol, the easier it becomes.
I remember turning to whiskey after I couldn't get health care for a back injury. Playing guitar always got me through some rough times. I now need a medicine that isn't very good for the liver so good thing I quit. It's been fun.
I remember getting a major back injury when I was around 35. It was a severely herniated disc putting a lot of pressure on my sciatic nerve. Doc told me she recommended back surgery ASAP. I told her I'd think about it so she put me on Vicodin. I kept putting it off and was on Vicodin for 5 years. Then she cut me off from one day to the next. She didn't even wean me off gradually. Good Lord, that was the worst thing I ever went through - the withdrawals!! But, when I got over it after about a month, I realized my back pain was gone! Turns out, my body broke down the disc, and the two vertebrae with no cushion in between ended up actually fusing together! Twelve years later, I'm still fine and back in the gym after the whole covid thing. But opiates like Vicodin can do tremendous damage to the liver over prolonged periods, so I was actually grateful she took me off! So now, I refuse to take anything derived from opiates. I'd rather take the pain!

One doctor said I needed to have my entire spine fused from the neck down. I was in shock for a few weeks until another surgeon told me that isn't likely as long as I stop doing what I did for a living. Dedicating years of your life to a career and having to stop completely was stressful. Now I try to play video games on youtube hahaha when my coordination is decent enough to anyway hahaha.

Saw him at the Whisky in 2000 and he was downing brews one after the other. Saw him again at House of Blues Hollywood and again it was a beer festival. God bless you Zakk! One day at a time. Paint chips? When I played in a band, our guitarist had a friend from his day job come to the show. Older guy. Can’t remember his name. Dude got LIT, I mean just drunk off his gourd. Our band truck was a 93 Ford F-150. This was in 2005 or 2006, and it had paint chipping off it. Drunk guy, who was screaming crazy shit the whole time about the other bands starts picking paint chips off our guitarists truck and eating them. True story.
I was a stagehand for years. I worked BLS in 2013. He was drinking O'douls NA beer. But American Non-alcoholic beer is 0.5% alcohol. I dig it though. In 2015 I quit drinking, But I did drink NA beer for a few months and it's impossible to get drunk on NA beer.
I'm a heavy drinker, still chug beers like a frat boy at 50. The key is to use ammino acids, turmeric with black pepper which reduces inflammation. My blood tests come back with normal liver enzyme levels every time now. Bottoms up mfers! 🍻
The liver deteriorates slowly as fat builds up on it, eventually leading to cirrhosis and possibly liver cancer. No amount of milk thistle or turmeric can fend off that end game; they potentially mask the result of liver testing for a period. An ultrasound or CT scan would show something very different. Lecture over.

Two weeks ago, they buggered off at lunch and when they came back, they smelled like they raided the set of a Cheech and Chong movie, or attended a Willie Nelson/ Snoop Dogg festival.
I saw BLS a half dozen times. I once seen Zack sign autographs at 10 am before an Ozz-fest show, drinking beer the whole time. When he came out later that evening with his band, he was drunk and played sloppy. I can't remember the year, but it was when Sabbath, Maiden and Mudvayne played the main stage. The next time I seen him was on the Static-X, Mudvayne and BLS tour. He was recently sober and played a bit better, but he looked tired. He's still my favorite Metal guitar picker, good to see him healthy and kicking ass.
The title is definitely misleading because he says something completely different in the video this channel said did drinking save Zakk Wylde life and he said something else
I saw Ozzfest in 2002 and it was hands down the worst show I've ever seen (for the money I spent). Ozzy and Zakk were both WAY off. I saw Zakk here in Tulsa back in 2015 after he had seen sober for a number if years; holy shit he was amazing. He went on late and only played about 70 minutes but it was some of the best shredding I've ever seen in my life and I'm 40.
When I saw Ozzy in Winnipeg back in October 2007, he was in fine form. I just can't say the same for Zakk. My next door neighbor at the time said his daughter paid the V.I.P package where she got to meet and greet the other bands backstage, and Zakk was a friggen mess. Drunk as shit, passed out on the couch, and Ozzy was pretty much putting his foot up Zakks ass telling him to wake up and they had a show to do. When I saw Zakk play, it was awful. His playing was sloppy as hell, and I think he was using too much chorus, or phase, or flanger effects, which just sounded like an ice pick in my ears. He didn't do any backing vocals, so Adam Wakeman had to do them instead. The only solo Zakk played properly was Mama I'm Coming Home, and maybe one other song, but thats about it. Im just glad he's dried out and doing better now.
I remember Ozzy being in bad shape in 2003. He was dealing with Sharon’s cancer diagnosis and you could tell he was self medicating. I saw 2002 as well but I don’t remember anything being specifically off with either of them. I saw Zakk a bunch of times before he quit drinking and it never seemed to affect his performance.

He was very obviously using a giant teleprompter, the whole show, which was annoying because he kept taking me out of the experience. Also, his voice was shot 3 songs in and he kept slowing the songs WAY down, to the point that Zakk and Rob Trujillo were trying to cue "the boss" to get back on tempo; to little avail.
It's funny when you reach a certain point in life you realize "Wow..that really all happened..and I'm still alive. Hmm.." ,that you really start to appreciate things more. I actually quit my cooking job right as COVID came, much to my boss man's protest, as I just had to get away from that environment. That coupled with methadone we managed to cut out all the drugs and curbes the 💩 outta my drinking. Her folks inheritance IS on the line after all.
I have nervous system damage from an accident and even tiny amounts of alcohol cause me seizures now... So now I take a pack of designated drinkers to Oregon Brew Fest, because, why would I give up the party? Now it's BIGGER lol

The next time I seen him was on the Static-X, Mudvayne and BLS tour. He was recently sober and played a bit better, but he looked tired. He's still my favorite Metal guitar picker, good to see him healthy and kicking ass.
Rock stars 10am isn't a normal person's 10am. He may have been up 14 hours before 10am, very likely.

I saw Ozzfest in 2002 and it was hands down the worst show I've ever seen (for the money I spent). Ozzy and Zakk were both WAY off. I saw Zakk here in Tulsa back in 2015 after he had seen sober for a number if years; holy shit he was amazing. He went on late and only played about 70 minutes but it was some of the best shredding I've ever seen in my life and I'm 40.
When I saw Ozzy in Winnipeg back in October 2007, he was in fine form. I just can't say the same for Zakk. My next door neighbor at the time said his daughter paid the V.I.P package where she got to meet and greet the other bands backstage, and Zakk was a friggen mess. Drunk as shit, passed out on the couch, and Ozzy was pretty much putting his foot up Zakks ass telling him to wake up and they had a show to do. When I saw Zakk play, it was awful. His playing was sloppy as hell, and I think he was using too much chorus, or phase, or flanger effects, which just sounded like an ice pick in my ears. He didn't do any backing vocals, so Adam Wakeman had to do them instead. The only solo Zakk played properly was Mama I'm Coming Home, and maybe one other song, but thats about it.
Im just glad he's dried out and doing better now.

I remember Ozzy being in bad shape in 2003. He was dealing with Sharon’s cancer diagnosis and you could tell he was self medicating.
I saw 2002 as well but I don’t remember anything being specifically off with either of them. I saw Zakk a bunch of times before he quit drinking and it never seemed to affect his performance.
@@keefriff99 agreed. I never said Zakk was off. He was ripping where he could. Ozzy was shit. He seemed lost. He was very obviously using a giant teleprompter, the whole show, which was annoying because he kept taking me out of the experience. Also, his voice was shot 3 songs in and he kept slowing the songs WAY down, to the point that Zakk and Rob Trujillo were trying to cue "the boss" to get back on tempo; to little avail.

It's funny when you reach a certain point in life you realize "Wow..that really all happened..and I'm still alive. Hmm.." ,that you really start to appreciate things more. I actually quit my cooking job right as COVID came, much to my boss man's protest, as I just had to get away from that environment. That coupled with methadone we managed to cut out all the drugs and curbes the 💩 outta my drinking. Her folks inheritance IS on the line after all.
