PG’s John Bohlinger hung with Zakk Wylde before soundcheck during the Nashville stop of the Generation Axe tour. Wylde, an intimidating muscle-bound shred monster turned out to be perhaps the nicest guy on the planet, is a renaissance man, and a titian of industry. Zakk humbly took us through his rig full of newly-launched Wylde Audio wares.
The guitars Wylde tours with are the same off-the-shelf models that are available through Wylde Audio. Typically, the Black Label Society frontman hangs on to one axe through an entire set and on this particular night this Warhammer model got the call. It features a mahogany body, maple neck, ebony fretboard, Floyd Rose tremolo, and a set of Wylde’s signature EMG pickups.
Wylde also plays this Wylde Audio Viking V. It has nearly identical specs as the Warhammer, but with a pinstripe finish.

Zakk always seems like a chill dude, but i think he's also slightly insane.
Zakk is a cool guy. I waited outside his show in Portland ME for 7 hours before they even got there and I was underage and couldnt even get in.
So he brought me on his bus, let me play his guitars and snuck me passed the bouncers to watch the show.
I'll never forget how the band went out of their way for an underage fan who just wanted to meet them.

Other then that I just heard story’s from back in the pride and glory days of zakk getting so drunk in these small bars that he would have to go back stage and puke and then wouldn’t come back for 30 min to an hour Lol those were the days

Zakk Wylde is a beast on the guitar . His range of playing is huge. From hard rock to country to metal to ballads he can adapt to anything that's real musician
You gotta love John, he just lays back and lets the artist speak without any interruptions.

What a real gentleman Zakk is and has fun in the music business as well and praises people that have helped him in his career.
Zakk will go down in history as one of the best, No more tears lead break is so intense and not due to complexity but the Feel and the tone he projects into the guitar is insane. BLS is overlooked to a degree and it shouldn't be.
One of the coolest guys in metal, PERIOD.

I was 14 years old. First live show ever. Ozzy and Anthrax in Pensacola FL. I was lucky enough to be near the front and I will never forget Zakk's first show of his first tour with Ozzy. The guy blew my fucking mind that night. I was already a guitar player, but I remember I realized I needed to work on my vibrato big time! Fucking great to see he's still going strong.

Zakk's guitar sounds like it wants to hurt you. Sounds angry. Mean. Dangerous. Such an articulate, smart, hard working, funny, lighthearted guy in charge of such a beastly sounding instrument is just too cool.
These guys are all so cool giving their time and being real on these videos. They’re pretty damn big stars, but they always give their time with their stories and humor.

I do love how Zakk Wylde really knows his stuff. You get loads of guitarists out there who maybe know the amps pretty well but know nothing about their pedals or amps but Zakk Wylde knows every component in every part of his chain in detail and what it adds or takes away from his overall sound. It's a nice change from guitarists who barely even know what string gauges they're currently using.
I was at that show with a meet and greet and a front row seat!!!!!!!!!! I got pics of Zakk and his board and guitars. He autographed my Jem and gave me a big viking bro hug 😄

People give Zakk a hard time for his lunch harmonics and image. But he is an accomplished musician, works his ass off (when is he NOT on tour-Ozzy, BLS, Zakk Sabbath, G3, Experience Hendrix) but most of all he is a genuine cool guy. I paid almost $800 for me and my girlfriend(now wife) to meet Zakk. He said hello and immediately went into breaking my balls. Being a Jersey guy myself ( and I’m not assuming its ONLY in NJ) but that is a friendship thing if the highest level. I would gladly spent that money again, even more for that experience. He also was very engaging to my wife who couldn’t care less who he was. But he was awesome. Or as Zakk would say “beyond awesome”

I went to this concert. ..he absolutely did an amazing job.. his sound was killer.. ..guitars looked great ..although not my style...make a superstrat ZW....anyway...he seemed like a humble / grateful guy..and completely blew me away...he did the best out of the 4 players imo..

great Rundown! You guys should please do another John Mayer Rig Rundown. The existing one is outdated, his style has shifted a bit and his rig seem to be so much more inspiring now... his current work with the Grateful Dead is just out of this world

Zakk was the only one willing to get on camera with the limited pre-show time due to the meet-and-greet and so many guitarists needed soundcheck and stage access. We will eventually post a gallery on www.premierguitar.com that will have all the gear from the tour.
