Something Josh left out here but did mentioned in previous videos, pro-footballers have their boots custom fitted with premium/quality materials but only colored to look like one of the main models on the market. They might also have cutomized sole plate.
Nike has it's Montebelluna factory for the pros which is something like Mizuno's Made In Japan so the quality is not the same as what the consumers get to purchase. So you would find pro players with wide feet wear Mercurials or narrow feet wear Tiempos. They are customed to fit them perfectly.
One of the most popular case is when Neymar wore Hypervenoms few years back. Upon closer inspection Neymar actually worn something that is closer to a Mercurial but disguised as Hyeprvenom. So yeah, pro-footballers do wear the best football boots but it's not available anywhere but only for themselves.

The best example of a recent big-name player denying the allure of big money endorsement deals is Vincent Kompany. He left the big names due to issues with pain in his feet late in his career. He settled mostly on wide leather upper shoes (advice given by most online footy boot reviewers such as Josh). He finally settled on Puma Futures, which are noted by most boot enthusiasts as one of the most comfortable boots available. I often wonder how Kompany's struggles to find a comfortable boot influenced the design of the Puma Future.

Man the moment he brought up those T90s in the beginning of the video I could relate with them so bad. Like I was absolutely head over heels for the T90 laser 3 because of it's really cool design and that feeling was reinforced when I saw Rooney wear those boots (man United fan here).... But I settled for the Adipower predators and thankfully it was a good choice. Since then I've been following the predator series really closely. ❤

It's funny you mention compromising performance for endorsement dollars - it's well known that Adidas' new knitted strapless GK gloves are trash and most pros hate them (Kasper Schmeichel discusses it in a recent podcast) but many pro keepers, especially younger keepers, continue to wear them.
Amateur and juinor players also continue to buy them because De Gea and Neuer use Adidas, even though both those players are basically getting a bespoke glove but in the latest Adidas colourway.

I think it's fair to say that top pros will get their boots modified to their exact preferences, so despite seeing a certain model on someone, the actual boot might be incredibly different. Therefore I would debate that top professionals wear better boots than the "best football boots" that are available for the general public.

Just remember those great footballers of the late ‘80s and early to mid ‘90s: Van Basten and Baggio wore Diadora, Gullit was a Lotto man, Baresi had his feet well equipped with Asics. Nike wasn’t even a relevant actor in the market back then until they patronized Dortmund and made a great move with Arsenal in the Premier League, and after the US World Cup they endorsed players like Romario, Bebeto, and Ronaldo. I don’t even remember a player wearing Adidas or Puma, much less Nike, besides those relatively unknown ones from the Bundesliga, Maradona and his almost lifetime partnership with Puma, and nobody else.

You are probably more likely to find the brands/lines that the pros like to wear during their practice sessions if they bother to actually buy boots and their shoe contracts allow them to do that without any repercussions. I wasted so much money buying what pro players wear. I rarely get a good fit & comfort so I end up buying pair after pair.

Pros doesn’t wear the normal boots everyone can buy. Custom made only for them. Remember van Persie wearing a predator adipower covered by an adizero skin…

Where is Puma getting the money to sign all these athletes

Puma is a huge company. I think they always had the money, but simply had prioritized using it in different areas. At the end of the day, it's a gamble to spend big on endorsements in hopes of gaining in sales and marketshare. I would think they look at it like an investment more than anything. I'm sure they consider just about everything.

@@Soccerreviewsforyou Hopefully their investment pays off as they've been signing alot of pro footballers which they didn't do in the past. Looks like they aggressively want to increase their market share in the boot space like they used to before Nike got into football in the 90s and 2000s. Puma was always big in motorsports like F1 so I guess they are allocating some of the money into football.

Bolt retired from running in 2017, so once he was gone they needed to expand their range and I think that's when they began a concerted effort to make a larger impact in football world.

I think soon mbappe will leave nike to join puma or adidas to become the face of the line, instead of being under ronaldo's face.
