Let’s bring back the best comment from the old video. “It’s a really good thing we can’t smell through the screen.” this shack is wicked. Love this sesh
I met a dude in prison and he had a ween tattoo. He wrote down a bunch of the lyrics which I loved and would try to sing them for me because he loved ween so much. When I got out I bought chocolate and cheese and that really changed music for me. I hope that dude is doing well.
Its sad but most greats are relatively unknown. The invitational hosted by deaner is fucking incredible and has Micheal Hampton of funkadelic sitting in some nights
@@SponkADonk Yes, at John & Peter's Place, every Wednesday, though not always with Deaner. I went at the end of September, the week of the cancelled Ween show in Philly, it was The Reverend Bill Fowler and the Invitational Band amd they killed it! definitely worth the trip!
It's actually amazing how much ground you can cover just by learning Blue Sky and Maggot Brain. The major and the minor, both tunes full of tons of moves to choose from.
RIP Dickie Betts. I've been jamming on some of his tunes since I heard, but I'd be lying if I said this video wasn't the first thing that popped in my head.
@@theslownow Just saw the news of DB's passing on a random music site, I read the headline, skipped the obit, and headed straight over here to watch this vid for the gazillionth time 🤠
I missed out on this when it was originally around. I had to piece together over time all the nuggets of wisdom that I could've gotten in just one video!
Been listening to Ween since the early 90's when I took a chance and bought Pure Guava after seeing it advertised in a High Times magazine. Mind blown, and still is to this day. Dean is a legend. You probably won't hear his name brought up in the "greatest guitarists ever" conversations... Which kills me. Because he's he's one of the most talented I can think of. Can play anything, and flow through a range of styles and genres unlike anyone I've seen. A true artist without limitations. Just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
I was always weird and I never fit in and then I heard Ween 20 years ago and it propelled me down an entire wormhole of weird music that spoke to me. Ween has always been my favorite band since. I'm obsessed to say the least and they really helped shape me into the person I am today, an even bigger weirdo.
I'm not a guitarist but I watched this video so many times before and now I'm going to watch it so many times again. It's so life-giving to see two people enjoying music and each other's company so much
Still to this day I occasionally think about that “below the dick or above the dick but never covers the dick” joke, I actually did say that to my girlfriend now wife as joke when we started dating and she asked me to play for her (I suck btw) .I remember watching this video many times over and over trying to understand what they were saying as I had just started learning english. Good old times.
as someone learning guitar (classical) I am just now learning the major 7s and hearing dean talk about it and how he learned about it and made some absolute bangers from just learning those chords is really cool
Growth is me not fully understanding this when it first came out and completely understanding it now. Cannot over state how happy I am the show is back!
this is the video that inspired me to pick up the goddamn guitar and fucking play it, for real, not just dick about for riffs. that was about three years ago and I've gotten so much mileage from the lessons of Deaner and Ween ever since. thank you so much for putting it back up and thank you for introducing me to Ween and Deaner's solo material!
The first Dean Ween solo album kicks ass. Starts off with Dickey Betts. I saw Dean solo live on tour and his entire solo band is full of great players. One of the best concerts I've been to.
Hey Matt! If you're reading this, I'm pumped that you're bringing Guitar Moves back. When I saw that almost all of the videos got deleted, I thought that was tragic. I was searching for the Blake Mills edition (please bring that one back-it's one of the best episodes IMO) and saw that some Russian dude had ripped a low quality copy with overdubbing. Please, please keep doing episodes if you can-this series has so much potential. I can think of so many guitarists that would be great for this show.
Man I was just randomly thinking of this video earlier tonight, and how much of a ripper that first 2 minutes of the video is, and here it is reposted just the day before. You guys are just genuinely two dudes happy to fuck around and jam, this video is a perfect example of that
Great series. This one is one of the highlights. So many practical lessons for the novice. All you need to know to start a band: Barre cords, miss big, throw in some tasters, off you go.
I say this all the time. Its so bad that my wife started using it. One day she just said it and immediately covered her mouth like she just said a bad word in church, I couldn't have loved her more.
Thanks again for bringing this episodes back. Love how genuine and crazy at the same time they are. Just like sitting with your guitar buddies. Best stuff on TH-cam, thanks Matt!
Dude, just reading the description there and had no idea you worked on red dead!, I have red dead 2 open right now robbing a shack with sean, so cool to know that both of my favourite things have collided red dead and ween! fuck yeah

@@New-Entertainment-TV Haha fuck yeah
This video changed my life 10 years ago. I’m still unpacking it today
This video is how I found ween
Chocolate and Cheese is one of the greatest albums of all time in my eyes. This interview rocks.
This is remarkable. They are clearly doing lines between takes. But the details of the fingerings? Way beyond youtube standards.
“If you’re gonna miss, miss big” that is coincidentally both my philosophy to playing guitar and making sweet love

This series is so legendary. Was super bummed when it vanished and always wondered what happened but happy to the reupload under Sweeney. Rad 🤘
It’s good to have it home
Revisiting this episode is like going back to the town you grew up in 20 years later. I still play some licks from this episode when noodling.
The humor is what makes music so much better!
yes. the greatest episode of music/guitar related content ever put out on youtube
Watch the Josh Homme one too.

This episode is the reason I began listening to Ween when I first saw it. Something about that chaotic Deaner face in the thumbnail…thanks a lot Matt!
Mickey doesn’t get enough credit for being such an improvisational, creative player. More from Planet Ween!
The sweatiest youtube video of all time. Glad to see it back!

When I heard the news, the first thing came to my mind was this interview. RIP Dickey Betts.
Mickey is a fucking god. Finally got to see ween a couple of years ago. He blew my socks off. I don't know how he plays hunched to the floor like that
