    Rode a mtb for the first time about 2 weeks ago with some guys that invited me along. 10 mile ride in the Florida panhandle heat and humidty. I am in fairly good shape for 52. I run and workout some. But that ride kicked my rear-end. Likes to died in that humid sweat soaked ride. But, I loved it though. The cardio and leg workout were awesome. It hurt but a good hurt. Bonus was my hips and knees were not killing me after like a run. I am former Army Infantry and I spent 20 years as a power lineman. So my knees and hips get a little sore. Here is my problem though. I want to start doing this but like alot of people dropping $1500 to $2000 on a bike is tough. But the guys i rode with let me use a good quality bike so I know what that feels like and I know the stuff a walmart would never work. I wish there was a mor affordable option for a newbie like myself that wants to ride, but i have a family to care for first.
    Anyway, really like your videos and appreciate the good info.
    Enjoy the amazing area you have to ride. Nothing around here even comes close to that.

      You can get a good Hardtail mountain bike for less, but it is expensive. They have good payment plans if that’s and option, but I know it’s not cheap.
      You can also get a good used bike, but be careful with that as well.

    Wow! I did not expect to see the results of those upgrades through the camera. I had to go back and compare the footage from your descent before the upgrades to see if what I thought I was seeing was what I was seeing. Sure, throwing tons of money at something to make it better isn't breaking news. I fully expected to hear how much overall improvement these upgrades provided. I just didn't expect to perceive those improvements through the camera. Nice job.

    I buy a bike then I break stuff and get unbroken stuff to fix it. Some call this process "upgrades" I get whatever I can at the moment 😂

    I agree wheels upgrades! I bought a set of Hunt carbon wheels and faster rolling tires on my Ripmo AF and dropped 2.5 lbs. its a xl and is about 34 lbs, climbs and descends faster!

    This is such a beast of a bike. From what I saw the frame is just a little bit heavier than a transition spire frame. So it's incredible how much weight they have going by the end of the build. 2k upgrades to shave 2kg (correct me if I'm wrong) don't seem like that great of a overall deal when you have fully build options around that same price and weighting less, like the transition spire alloy with a gx build for 5.500usd. Nonetheless, the bike looks absolutely stunning and the upgrades even make it better. Keep on rockin! 😊

    • @petedog9581
      @petedog9581 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This beast weighs as much a the Transition Relay out of the box. 41 lbs! Those are smart upgrades, but is the total cost? Don't know if I missed that part. What other bikes would come be in that price point and didn't need upgrades? The key is what he made clear at the end. Do you upgrades over time to make it worthwhile, or just throw down the $ upfront and get the bike you need. Easier said than done in a would full of $10K bikes. Lol.

    • @badagaioo
      @badagaioo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@petedog9581 he mentioned 2k on top of the stock price which I this is around 3.3k. The alloy spire goes for 5.3k with similar specs. But yeah, like he mentioned, phased upgrades (if you can control yourself 😂) make this a really interesting deal.

    • @JaredHoff
      @JaredHoff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@petedog9581 The total price would be about $5,500 for this build using the discount codes in my videos for Trail One.

      @JaredHoff  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@badagaioo so much fun putting your own custom touches on a bike, but definitely tricky when you consider some of the stock builds you could buy for the same price.

      Keep in mind most of the weight was “unsprung”, rotational weight and rolling speed from the tire traction. MADE SUCH A HUGE difference. I was surprised how much better the bike rode. But still a lot of money in upgrades so may not be worth it for everyone.

  • @joelrunyan1608

    I ride an evil wreckoning 160mm. Big bike.. I swapped on carbon rims and light tires... game changer.. its a completely different bike... accelerates SOooo much quicker... the best combo for everyone.. don't spend money on light parts or carbon frames before u spend money on the wheels... and. Use the lightest fastest tire you can get away with.. I run kenda booster pro FR (an xc tire) and a helldiver rr. (A semi slick dh tire) its amazing

    Loss of rotational weight is by far best upgrade for any bike as far as making it feel faster. I run the lightest wheels and tires I can keeping them within a reasonable level of performance and durability.

    Nice build! 41 lbs for an enduro bike is HEAVY, almost e-bike territory! Did the extra weight help it feel more stable going down? Carbon wheels are a great way to upgrade...expensive, but totally transforms the feel. And I agree about the stem - looks great, good job Sir.

    Got myself the Colossus n8e and man it is fun upgraded to fox factory and renthal bars. The entity tire are pretty malleable for heavy dh riding so that in my opinion is the best upgrade down the line gonna try to push them a bit longer but they dent so easy. But man the bike is fun!
