Actually it was super selfish. She wanted him to be half human and gem. She didn't have to sacrifice herself she literally created a womb for him. On top of that she wanted Steven. She wanted him to be created knowing she'd have to leave behind the crystal gems and Greg so it was selfish
She didn't make Steven to clean up her mess. It'd been thousands of years since the gem war, the Crystal Gems didnt know about the Cluster. She thought it was all over and Steven would be able to live a normal human life
The other all did worse things then Pink ever did. Pink wasn't able to learn to be a better gem until she made friends and got to see things through the eyes of Rose quartz. She didn't have any healthy way to deal with negative emotions before she started the crystal gems because her sisters weren't any better. The only ways to deal with emotions she learned from her sisters were to lash out at gems, make them feel immense sadness, or shut out everything. As Sapphire pointed out, Pink followed the crystal gems as much as they followed her. Making friends and understanding the world around you are vital parts of growing up and maturing into a good and independent person.

It's okay to be flawed and imperfect because it gives you room to grow. But it's important to grow in a healthy way. Steven put so much pressure on himself, throughout Future trying to be the paragon of the universe; casting aside any things and traits that made him happy in his youth. He did all that thinking that being "older and more mature" was more important. But the truth is...while it IS important to dependable, responsible and reliable; no one ever said it had to take over your life. You need to find a balance between business and pleasure and Steven seemed intent to cast aside anything associated with the latter, all because it reminded him about "how much of a stupid kid he used to be"
It’s already bad enough that pink diamond hurt everyone they trusted her, leaving her son to fix all of her mistakes was pretty much the worst sin she’s ever committed the good thing that Stephen was able to fix up the mass, but in doing so pretty much fractured, his mind, and the point where it was so damaged he had a lot of psychological problems. I think the most messed up thing Rose/Pink has done was ironically make Steven.. I feel like pearl should be in this list probably the second cos pink knew she loved her but left her for someone else/greg And spine should be at the top of the list What happened to her was really painful It changed her form forgive But still we all this We need to stop pink as the villain of the show And try to understand that everybody makes mistakes Even the Diamonds made mistakes And thankfully Steven was able to settle things in the show
The show unfortunately failed to present evidence that showed Pink Diamond, much less Rose Quartz, acted criminally, without possible excuse. 1. Letting Volleyball become injured. Pink Pearl herself said that she wasn't the target, that apparently she was caught in whatever blast was emitted by Pink Diamond in frustrated rage against her sisters. If you want to say that this act was bad because of unintended consequences, so be it, but it wasn't directed at Pink Pearl (I despise the nickname of Volleyball). For reasons we may never know, Pink Diamond changed from a violent, imbecilic brat to a mature figure of conscience, so much so that the two Pearls couldn't recognize the behavior of their opposite's mistress. 2. Lying about Bismuth. Bismuth was at the least insubordinate, and if her attempt to murder Steven when she mistakenly thought he was Rose Quartz is any indication, she would have likely mutinied and brought down the Crystal Gem movement. Rose's decision was essentially ratified by Garnet and Pearl when they took Steven's account at his word and declined to unbubble Bismuth to let her explain herself. 3. Abandoning Spinel. We have no information at all from Rose's side. We don't know under what circumstances Spinel was abandoned, whether it was impossible for Pink to rescue her or if Spinel wasn't a spy who would have eventually tumbled onto Pink's secret (which would explain why Spinel wasn't just left on Homeworld). I have to convince myself that Spinel didn't understand that she was going to murder billions of sapient beings, because otherwise she should have been shattered into atoms and blown into the Sun as far as I'm concerned. 4. Faking her shattering. With Blue's ultimatum, Pink no longer had the option to fight a shadow war against "Rose Quartz". Pearl said that this was part of an effort to scare all Gems from Earth; and if this didn't work there would be war in any case: and Earth's life would be doomed if she failed to win or meekly went along with Blue's and Yellow's plans. Again, for some reason Pink felt she was powerless against her sisters, and yet eventually developed abilities and power levels matching them. She evidently could not depend on the loyalty of her own limited numbers of Gems. 5. Leaving Steven to fix her mess. What mess? The only obvious loose ends around when Steven was born was rounding up the last of the corrupted Gems, which GAP were competent enough to handle. Show me in canon where Rose knew that Homeworld was going to come back to Earth in the next dozen years rather than next five thousand. The fact that Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz gave up her status to protect a world that wasn't her own, against terrible odds and with what she believed was death for herself and her followers as the consequences of failure, ought to forgive far greater sins than those thrown up by canon.

But the truth is...while it IS important to dependable, responsible and reliable; no one ever said it had to take over your life. You need to find a balance between business and pleasure and Steven seemed intent to cast aside anything associated with the latter, all because it reminded him about "how much of a stupid kid he used to be"

It’s already bad enough that pink diamond hurt everyone they trusted her, leaving her son to fix all of her mistakes was pretty much the worst sin she’s ever committed the good thing that Stephen was able to fix up the mass, but in doing so pretty much fractured, his mind, and the point where it was so damaged he had a lot of psychological problems. It’s no wonder why he transformed to a Godzilla like creature and wanted to burn the world he was just getting sick of everything and the nightmare wouldn’t end for him

I think the most messed up thing Rose/Pink has done was ironically make Steven.. Hear me out, you mean to tell me the space alien who only protected Earth because it was her little personal sandbox, saw both gems and humans as novelty items even after the wars she just competely changed after Greg demanded respect?? I doubt it. Its pretty dark to think she just used Greg to make a human gem hybrid and did not truly love Greg or Steven/Norma. You might think its a stretch and she had love for her child but given the fact she most likely knew she manipulated Pearls love for her to do her bidding its not much of a reach she'd think to use that charm to sway Greg and guilt Steven into cleaning up her mess. Pink was childish but she wasn't stupid, she most likely knew what she was doing. The episode where Steven vents to a fake rose in her former room comes across as a major coping mechanism Steven created in his own head, telling himself that Rose loved him when theres no real proof she really LOVED him. She might have loved the idea of a human baby but she'll never know her son, she was willing to die knowing the diamonds were still after her and to me thats not love, thats infatuation and selfishness.

The show unfortunately failed to present evidence that showed Pink Diamond, much less Rose Quartz, acted criminally, without possible excuse.
1. Letting Volleyball become injured. Pink Pearl herself said that she wasn't the target, that apparently she was caught in whatever blast was emitted by Pink Diamond in frustrated rage against her sisters. If you want to say that this act was bad because of unintended consequences, so be it, but it wasn't directed at Pink Pearl (I despise the nickname of Volleyball).
For reasons we may never know, Pink Diamond changed from a violent, imbecilic brat to a mature figure of conscience, so much so that the two Pearls couldn't recognize the behavior of their opposite's mistress.
2. Lying about Bismuth. Bismuth was at the least insubordinate, and if her attempt to murder Steven when she mistakenly thought he was Rose Quartz is any indication, she would have likely mutinied and brought down the Crystal Gem movement. Rose's decision was essentially ratified by Garnet and Pearl when they took Steven's account at his word and declined to unbubble Bismuth to let her explain herself.
3. Abandoning Spinel. We have no information at all from Rose's side. We don't know under what circumstances Spinel was abandoned, whether it was impossible for Pink to rescue her or if Spinel wasn't a spy who would have eventually tumbled onto Pink's secret (which would explain why Spinel wasn't just left on Homeworld). I have to convince myself that Spinel didn't understand that she was going to murder billions of sapient beings, because otherwise she should have been shattered into atoms and blown into the Sun as far as I'm concerned.
4. Faking her shattering. With Blue's ultimatum, Pink no longer had the option to fight a shadow war against "Rose Quartz". Pearl said that this was part of an effort to scare all Gems from Earth; and if this didn't work there would be war in any case: and Earth's life would be doomed if she failed to win or meekly went along with Blue's and Yellow's plans. Again, for some reason Pink felt she was powerless against her sisters, and yet eventually developed abilities and power levels matching them. She evidently could not depend on the loyalty of her own limited numbers of Gems.
5. Leaving Steven to fix her mess. What mess? The only obvious loose ends around when Steven was born was rounding up the last of the corrupted Gems, which GAP were competent enough to handle. Show me in canon where Rose knew that Homeworld was going to come back to Earth in the next dozen years rather than next five thousand.
The fact that Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz gave up her status to protect a world that wasn't her own, against terrible odds and with what she believed was death for herself and her followers as the consequences of failure, ought to forgive far greater sins than those thrown up by canon.
