My high school had an amazing principal, who you actually kind of remind me of. Ran the school as a good principal should, but he understood the students. We had plenty of fun events. A stark contrast to the one from junior high who, despite the school's "zero tolerance" policy, did practically nothing when I was bullied for medical issues (surgery fixed it long ago).
Fun fact about this show: Before "Hey Arnold" premiered on Nickelodeon, there were claymation segments of Arnold that were shown on Sesame Street! Which is very true!
The saddest part of this episode was when Principal Wartz redid a part of his house and sang forever in my heart PS-18 so much reminds me of the episode of SpongeBob when he opened the book of pictures that he had when Patrick got smart and said at least Patrick is my friend in my memories:)
You should react to the episode, Tutoring Torvald. In that episode, Arnold is tasked with tutoring an older classmate named Torvald for an upcoming test. And another Hey Arnold episode I suggest reacting to is The Longest Monday which involves a school bullying/hazing tradition.
Love your reaction to the song at the end. XD 🪩🕺 Wartz was definitely better because at least he was being decisive and firm. The kids didn't push him around. Simmons means well, but he isn't a leader.
One of my favorite episodes!I love simmons and it was interesting to see him try to have a bigger role at the school and try to include everyone and be caring as he does as a teacher. I also liked seeing wartz outside of the school and how he deals with not having his position of power I have been looking forward to this reaction for a long time! And i am so glad you enjoyed this episode. I must agree with you that as wonderful as simmons is and i love simmons always have... he is THE WORST PRINCIPAL EVER! I remember when i first saw this episode and saw the school as a wreck i thought it was a dream sequence or something. Was surprised and shocked when i realized it wasnt. Anyway look forward to more reactions of various shows.other school related hey arnold episodes- the flood, bio square, school play, tutoring torvald, full moo n,helga on the couch, career day,on the lam, deconstruncting arnold, hall monitor, phoebe skips, and hey harold
“You must have a low intelligence level” “You’re a disgrace and a monumental disappointment” “Reprehensible wrongdoer and a bad wicked-minded animal” Wow, I have never heard of a Principal talk like this. The writers were very creative to make Wartz this harsh principal character and insulting the students to that degree and giving them harsh punishments like that.
Yes! I was waiting for this! Yeah, Wartz is too harsh and pretty rough, but I can understand that being a principal is a tough job. He could still do better.
He should issue consequences for actual intentional wrongdoings, but not use personal insults like he was doing. In Rhonda's case, it was an honest mistake.
What's funny is that I have had quite a few teachers who are similar to Wartz and Simmons. I've had some who are so strict that they completely blow their tops at the slightest without any consideration for this effect on the student emotional state, but I've also had teachers who are so carefree, and have trouble showing some backbone, that they too often let their kids just walk all over them, and bother other students without doing anything about it. But I have been fortunate enough to know some teachers who can find that balance, and know when to be your friend, and when to be your mentor.
I swear I have lost count of how many times I wanted to punch Wolfgang in the face. The Friday the 13th episode was awesome because we see him crying like a little baby over being terrified of black cats cause of bad luck!
When I was in high school, we played the Alma Mater at every pep rally and after every football game. Our school actually made us learn both it and the fight song. I remember our fight song was to the tune of Ohio State's "Across The Field." Even though the school was in Alabama.
Wartz definitely is very harsh and rough when it comes to being principal. It is stressful and a tough job that he does have to maintain order in order to control the students in that school since Simmon’s format doesn’t keep the school stable. But Wartz learned to keep it minimum and balance out punishment and be more reasonable to students instead of just harshness.
Please review the episode "Full Moon" Harold, Sid, and Stinky pull a prank on Principal Wartz exposing their rears and Arnold gets in trouble for their prank because he was a victim of it and refused to fess up to Wartz that the 3 did it because he didn't see who they were that mooned him and holds Arnold responsible for something he never did and will end up losing credits for not cooperating with Wartz lol
You actually brought up a VERY interesting point. This school never has a vice principal or assistant principal. Not one episode even so much mentions any vice principal or assistant principal
Such a good episode. It would definitely hit better if he familiarized himself with The Jolly Olly Man first, but there's no real specific episode to do that with since he just kind of randomly shows up for like a minute or two in each of the episodes he's in prior. It would just require watching the show in general and seeing him when he appears. Kind of a tall order though unless he wants to do it, otherwise yeah I'd say just watch Career Day. Amazing episode. (Though just about every episode of Hey Arnold is amazing in one way or another).
@@cjg8763wait, but isn't this the first episode we learn why he is the way he is? It was the first episode I saw where he was actually a serious part of the story.
@@erika_itsumi5141 I mean it would be a good idea to get familiar with his general demeanor before getting into that episode. But again that's a tall order so unless he wants to watch the whole show he can do this one okay.
yeah! another hey Arnold reaction! I love this series very much. I grew up with it. same as with Spongebob. Based on the title, this episode is probably the perfect episode for a reaction. In the fade-in at the beginning I saw that even I suggested it ^^ I would be really happy if there were more reactions to hey Arnold in the future. keep it up :)
We were never tild principal wartzs age i just assumed he was old enough to collect social security he just chose not to retire. And hes living off retirment social security checks
@SchoolPrincipalReacts yes sir they really should have had him say "I retire" not "I quit" or at least indicate he's collecting some kind of retirement income like social security, a pension, or something. But this is an 11 min cartoon from the 90s. They didn't really think those things through back than 😂
Simmons is a good teacher and a good person, just not principal material. If he set rules and boundaries and can handle a school full of rowdy kids, who knows? He might have made a good principal. But he was too nice, it's fine being nice, I think. As long as you're also stern and strict. Have a good balance. There was that one scene where Sid threw the paper airplane at Simmon's head and he smiled and said "Save your horseplay for recess, Sid." I feel like he was allowed to be stern with him. And then maybe say to save that for recess or on his own time.
I was waiting for this one, and you didn't disappoint. On your question regarding PS 118 under Wartz vs. Simmons, I do agree that it is WAY worse under Simmons. Wartz is harsh, unfair, and just plain awful sure, but I think if a principal can take constructive criticism and be open to change (unlike Wartz int he beginning), then things can improve for the rest of the school. But for Simmons, it is total anarchy. The students may have feared Wartz, but with Simmons they probably fear everyone because not even the principal has any real authority, and the students like Wolfgang know he won't do anything to them when they are bullying others. So yes I think Simmons was worse
man the real Principal actually lost his mind. I never seen such a crazy outburst from one. And I seen this episode before, after all it was probably 20 years ago, so I completely forgot he did this.
I remember are one time in a government class, we had to write something that we would like the school to implement well someone said that they wished that they could go off campus for lunch. My teacher was shocked she thought it was a joke. But all of the students were like, yes we want that LOL!
Deconstructing Arnold, Full Moon, and On The Lam are other great episodes. All involve Arnold’s friends getting into hot water at school and between themselves.
Hey principal Brandon in case you’re wondering the kid that threw the paper airplane at Mr. Simmons his name is Sid and the tall kid with the big nose sitting next to him is Stinky Peterson just thought I’d let you know 😉
I would say that a student having mop and bucket duty for two weeks would make Gordy so happy, but in reality it would just make the night guy happy and he'd probably think Gordy was actually doing his job for once. 😆 I had a math teacher in high school who made homework optional and if you did it, it counted as extra credit. The only exception was if you weren't passing the tests she expected the homework to be done, but because I was pulling As on every math test homework was always optional for me in that class and I loved not having to worry about doing it. Not that I was the greatest with completing homework anyway. A math class I had before that one didn't have such a policy and I ended up with an A on all of my test scores, and on my in class work, but an F on my homework scores for just not having ever done it and my overall grade came out to like a C+. I even had the highest score on the final exam in that class. Nobody got 100% but I got a 98% and my only error was missing that I had needed to be working with a negative number on one question. Crazy to get all those high test scores and still come out with a C+ just because of homework. I feel that if a student is acing the tests that homework SHOULD be optional and only required for those who need the extra practice, so I really liked that other teacher's policy. It wasn't just math though, that's just where my optional homework example comes from. I despised homework from any class and rarely bothered to do it unless it was so important I'd fail without it. It wasn't until my senior year I got smart about homework and started doing it at school, usually between classes and on my lunch break in the library after eating, and also on the bus to and from school. The only year I consistently pulled a good grade for homework in every class I had. I always liked the "I Will Prevail" song, which is modeled after "I Will Survive." Wartz was too tough and Simmons was too soft, but the Wartz we see at the very end of the episode seems like a good balance between those two traits, once he caught Mr. Simmons' look., I really LOVE Hey Arnold, I'm so glad to see more of it on here and to hear your commentary over this amazing show. I hope there will be more to come soon. Until next time, cheers!
Principal Wartz, in this episode, reminds me of an incident my second cousin witnessed when he worked at a McDonald's. The management there was terrible to their employees. This one girl came in with her hair dyed, and the manager got in her face and screamed at her, calling her nasty names, and it went on until she broke down crying and ran home. There weren't any rules forbidding that in the handbook either, which makes it even worse. No one reported him because he was the manager of that location and they didn't know what to do.
@@SchoolPrincipalReacts the worst part is that the girl wasn't even in violation of any rules because there wasn't anything that said you couldn't dye your hair.
When I was in elementary and middle school none of my male classmates had no respect for female teachers but they were always quiet as a mouse for the male teachers.
Did you watch Frasier back in the 90s? Simmons is voiced by the guy who played Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe, and he played those two roles simultaneously; which is so funny, because they're completely opposite personality wise.
How does Simmons place on the tier list now after he technically was a principle. Might need a tier list pt2/update vid with all of these new shows and movies lol
Arnold, Harold, Rhonda,Sid and the other from their class are 9 years old and in the 4th grade Wolfgang and the other taller kids are 5th and 6th graders P.S. 118 is an elementary school and most of the style of music cars and Strange clothing is from the 60s - 70s. The show takes place in the midd 90s to early 2000s. Good video bro thanks for sharing this made my day please keep making these videos I wood rather watch your video and a couple other TH-cam channels that I like then most of the new TV shows that are on at the moment.
@@oooh19 It's just a fan conspiracy theory. Don't take it so seriously. It comes mostly from the fact they dress pretty much exactly the same and that Mr. Simmons kind of acts like an adult Doug might act.
Actually, I was curious on your take with this episode as we see two different extremes with being a principle, so your experience is probably a lot more applicable here.
I hope you eventually do another principals tier list where you include new ones and maybe reevaluate some of the old ones now that you've seen more of them.
It depends on what they did and how bad it was. They could be fired or they could receive other discipline or just a documented conference with the principal.
I pushed for the 1st reaction to Spy x Family, and definitely endorse taking a look at the first day of school episode next. If you know any other fans out there, definitely encourage them to comment on taking another look at Spy x Family too! 😎
Wartz is the kind of principal who believes the only way to "keep students in line" is to be as stern, harsh and tight-fisted as possible. What they fail to realize is instead of helping instill respect, this mentality only leads to the students resenting or outright HATING their superiors
Hey, I know that this is reaction channel but you should talk about some things that you had to nip in the bud. I heard that one school had to put a ban on using food delivery apps because it was too distracting. My mom does Door Dash sometimes and she went to a school, she thought it was for the teachers but several students came out to pick up their Door Dash orders. LOL!
When I Was In 5th Grade Like One Of My Friends Didn't Have a Jacket Or Sweater One Day During The Cold Weather And The Office Gave Her A Red Sweater! And When I Was High In The School Had Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather For Any Students Who Needed Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather! Like Does A School Need Soecial Permission To Have Warm Clothes For Students During The Cold Weather! And Where Would The School Get The Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather For Studehts Sir Principal Brandon!?
If you were to do the principal tier list again, will Mr.Simmons be qualify to be on the list because of this episode, or not since he isn't actually a principal, I feel like he be a D/C due to him nott really settling any rules, but slightly higher since he isn't as harsh I Though they Arnold's class will have learn to not take Simmons for granted, as they learn they actually love him as teacher, so i aleast though they will aleast try to behave for Simmons, to keep him as principal
Maybe don’t tell a child “you have a low intelligence level” no matter how true that is Edit: thanks for pointing out the odd length of the wire 😂 I was so confused
I'm tempted to Suggest "Grange Hill" to react to, a British TV show that aired from 1978 to 2008, set in a secondary school in London. Although doubt you'd do that one what with all the racism in it.
Hello. European here. I have a question, if you don't mind. See, I've heard horror stories about teachers' salaries, and I'm curious if this (to your knowledge) affects the rest of the faculty as well. Is there a sour schism between the principal, the rest of the faculty and janitorial staff over this? (I assume this is also a bit area specific, like most matters in such a large country) Edit: I suppose that turned into more than one question 😅
No problem! Which country are you from? The salary thing doesn’t come up often. Everyone knows that administrators earn more money, but they also have a lot more responsibility. Let me know if you have other questions! 😎👍 🇺🇸
@SchoolPrincipalReacts None for now, thanks! Also, I'm from Sweden 🙂🇸🇪 I'll be sure to take you up on the offer to ask away if anything pops to mind. Of course, I don't expect that I will always get a response 😅
Cool! 🇸🇪 If you’re interested in asking more questions and are a Discord user, DM me on social media. It is sometimes difficult to locate replies on TH-cam. Thanks!
I find your videos very interesting. Do you think you could do Harry Potter ones too like different scenes? I like to know what you think of them cause their teachers too and they have a school even though it’s for wizards. This is the one where there’s this one character mad eye who attacks a student in the class and it’s like not exactly a thing that you should be doing in school so I wonder how you could say about that.
@School Principal Reacts, What's your opinion on students having homework? A lot of students and even parents are against it. Are they against it for good reason or just because they don't want to do homework and help their kids with the homework? Of course, when I went to school, I didn't like doing homework, especially if it was a lot. But do you think it's beneficial or unnecessary?
It can be beneficial but a lot of times it isn’t. It depends on what the homework is and whether or not it helps students practice a skills they will need.
@@SchoolPrincipalReacts Please react to Hey Arnold episode titled "False Alarm." Spoiler Alert: The false alarm involves a student pulling the school fire alarm.
Please take a look at school principal Carl Moss from King of the Hill. There are times where he seems completely spineless and pathetic in his decision making. Always trying to stay on the school board's good side even if he has to lie to do it. So I would be curious to see what you think of Principal Carl Moss. Is he really actually doing his job well or is he really as spineless and annoying as fans of the show think he is. Some good episodes with Carl Moss are Season 13 Episode 22 "Bill Gathers Moss," or Season 4 Episode 4 "Little Horrors of Shop," or Season 2 Episode 4 "Hilloween."
Have you checked out Harry Potter? Since it's a series of movies, I'd imagine it'd be reserved for a special occasion, but I think you'd have a lot of interesting things to say about the colorful cast. If you do deicide to do it, though, just so you don't have to do like you do with Gordy from Ned's and constantly point out firings, I'll let you in on something. Snape is a blatant abuser and Dumbledor is aware of that, but he keeps him on staff for some very specific purposes. If you're not up for movies, why not check out the reboot series that everyone is taking about once it drops?
That be pretty Cool Great idea. Although the Harry Potter movies are pretty long so if he’s gonna do it it’ll probably need a couple intermissions or cut in 5 or 6 videos like The school of rock was. But I can see him reacting to the Harry Potter series
I love the pause at a lizard dragging a child followed by asking for our opinion on who is better.

Wow 😮
@@SchoolPrincipalReacts the worst part is that the girl wasn't even in violation of any rules because there wasn't anything that said you couldn't dye your hair.
That’s despicable! Did she continue to work there or find a new job?
When I was in elementary and middle school none of my male classmates had no respect for female teachers but they were always quiet as a mouse for the male teachers.
Did you watch Frasier back in the 90s? Simmons is voiced by the guy who played Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe, and he played those two roles simultaneously; which is so funny, because they're completely opposite personality wise.
I didn’t know that but it does sound just like him!!! 😂
9:00 YOU DO NEED WARTZ! 🤣🤣
Lol 😂
Needs balance
Simmons ⚖️ Wartz
How does Simmons place on the tier list now after he technically was a principle. Might need a tier list pt2/update vid with all of these new shows and movies lol
18:46 -18:55 How are there 3 different Harolds??! 🤣🤣
This was a good one, Keep it up and I don't think he's that bad of principal somewhat ,This was a 9/10 reaction btw love watching u man :).
Thanks! 😊
Principal Simmons? You mean JK Simmons from Whiplash or Gene Simmons from KISS? 😂
I loved the “I will survive” parody at the end
Me too!
React to Hey Arnold's Full Moon where Wartz gets mooned
I agree.
I agree 😂🌑
Wartz may have been a jerk BUT he was a leader.. the kids didn’t take advantage of him.
True
Arnold, Harold, Rhonda,Sid and the other from their class are 9 years old and in the 4th grade Wolfgang and the other taller kids are 5th and 6th graders P.S. 118 is an elementary school and most of the style of music cars and Strange clothing is from the 60s - 70s. The show takes place in the midd 90s to early 2000s. Good video bro thanks for sharing this made my day please keep making these videos I wood rather watch your video and a couple other TH-cam channels that I like then most of the new TV shows that are on at the moment.
A lot of late 90s early 00s had older decades influences and early 90s still basically was 80s
I could not stand Principal Wartz when I was a kid and I still can't stand him now 🤣
Yes lol
Simmons reminded me of a grown up Doug Funnie.
There are fan theories out there suggesting that Mr. Simmons IS Doug as an adult.
@@cjg8763really?
@@oooh19 yep. That's been around for a loooong time.
@ but then why change his name to Simmons?
@@oooh19 It's just a fan conspiracy theory. Don't take it so seriously. It comes mostly from the fact they dress pretty much exactly the same and that Mr. Simmons kind of acts like an adult Doug might act.
Actually, I was curious on your take with this episode as we see two different extremes with being a principle, so your experience is probably a lot more applicable here.
I hope you eventually do another principals tier list where you include new ones and maybe reevaluate some of the old ones now that you've seen more of them.
Good idea!
You should watch LEAN ON ME and STAND AND DELIVER
I know I asked this before I deleted it because I thought my question was silly. But to ask again would a teacher get fired for humiliating a student?
It depends on what they did and how bad it was. They could be fired or they could receive other discipline or just a documented conference with the principal.
Teachers get tenure it can be very hard to fire them
Would really enjoy more coverage of Spy x Family. I think that you could get some good commentaries regarding homework & reward systems.
I pushed for the 1st reaction to Spy x Family, and definitely endorse taking a look at the first day of school episode next. If you know any other fans out there, definitely encourage them to comment on taking another look at Spy x Family too! 😎
Yep!!!! 👍
Try reacting to Regular Show episode, "More Smarter"
Agreed
Being the principal of a school is a very difficult job
Yes! 👍
Have you reacted the film, “Lean On Me”? It’s a great movie and shows that more schools would be better with people like Joe Clark.
Are you familiar with the channel Teacher Therapy? This is... basically an illustration of what that teacher is talking about.
Yes I am 👍
I told her let me know if she needs another interviewee!
18:07 18:10 pier anarchy.
Wartz is the kind of principal who believes the only way to "keep students in line" is to be as stern, harsh and tight-fisted as possible.
What they fail to realize is instead of helping instill respect, this mentality only leads to the students resenting or outright HATING their superiors
Right! 👍
LOL!
Ooo please do “Sid’s revenge”
When I Was In 5th Grade Like One Of My Friends Didn't Have a Jacket Or Sweater One Day During The Cold Weather And The Office Gave Her A Red Sweater! And When I Was High In The School Had Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather For Any Students Who Needed Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather! Like Does A School Need Soecial Permission To Have Warm Clothes For Students During The Cold Weather! And Where Would The School Get The Warm Clothes During The Cold Weather For Studehts Sir Principal Brandon!?
Most schools now keep supplies for this purpose.
Can you react to another Hey Arnold episode “Full Moon”? If it gets enough requests that is.
I already want you to react to the directors episode of Ned's survival guide
Pro wrestling would be a good assembly
If you were to do the principal tier list again, will Mr.Simmons be qualify to be on the list because of this episode, or not since he isn't actually a principal, I feel like he be a D/C due to him nott really settling any rules, but slightly higher since he isn't as harsh
I Though they Arnold's class will have learn to not take Simmons for granted, as they learn they actually love him as teacher, so i aleast though they will aleast try to behave for Simmons, to keep him as principal
Maybe don’t tell a child “you have a low intelligence level” no matter how true that is
Edit: thanks for pointing out the odd length of the wire 😂 I was so confused
I'm tempted to Suggest "Grange Hill" to react to, a British TV show that aired from 1978 to 2008, set in a secondary school in London. Although doubt you'd do that one what with all the racism in it.
Hello. European here. I have a question, if you don't mind.
See, I've heard horror stories about teachers' salaries, and I'm curious if this (to your knowledge) affects the rest of the faculty as well.
Is there a sour schism between the principal, the rest of the faculty and janitorial staff over this?
(I assume this is also a bit area specific, like most matters in such a large country)
Edit: I suppose that turned into more than one question 😅
No problem!
Which country are you from?
The salary thing doesn’t come up often. Everyone knows that administrators earn more money, but they also have a lot more responsibility. Let me know if you have other questions! 😎👍 🇺🇸
@SchoolPrincipalReacts None for now, thanks! Also, I'm from Sweden 🙂🇸🇪
I'll be sure to take you up on the offer to ask away if anything pops to mind. Of course, I don't expect that I will always get a response 😅
Cool! 🇸🇪
If you’re interested in asking more questions and are a Discord user, DM me on social media. It is sometimes difficult to locate replies on TH-cam. Thanks!
@SchoolPrincipalReacts I will try. I am not using Discord currently, but I should probably get it running at some point. Might as well be soon :)
If you do, let me know on Facebook and I will provide details. Thanks!

React to hey Arnold, ghost bride episode ❤, you will love it
I find your videos very interesting.
20:31 and 20:43 NO, YOU DIDN'T. WARTZ TOOK AWAY HIS OWN JOB. HE RESIGNED.
True!
Thanks 😊
I wish I transferred at you’re school
👍
U should also react to the Patrick star show it’s a spinoff of SpongeBob
Are all principals bald?
Lol no but a good many are 😂
@@SchoolPrincipalReactslol the stress lol
They totally ripped this episode off from an episode of The Simpsons.
This one nickelodeon cartoon
"el tigre the adventures of manny rivera" has some fun school episodes
"Zebra Donkey"
"The Late Manny Rivera"
Really enjoyed the reaction but it was kind of hard to hear you. The show drowned you out
I realized this as it was too late. I will correct this for next time.
