If I want them in an Impulsor, I think 5 man squad + Primaris Libby is what I'd do. I used the mathhammer page to compare with SW Terminators. Bladeguards are more less equally tough, but they do 50% more damage in terms of number of models killed. They cost more less (5%) the same though.

Trust me, as a Dark Angels and Grey Knights player I've been on the wrong side of the power creep for the vast majority of the time I've been playing 40k. It's simply how it is.
      As I say, you can complain, but you'll just have to wait for your codex like the rest of us and pray to the gods you're decent. Or write letters to GW I guess, but they're unlikely to change anything when they likely have the next Guard codex already written as you say.

    Combined with the battle honour that gives ability to start in assault doctrine.

    On turn 1 you advance charge them into the enemy
    Suddenly you get 25 attacks hitting on 3's s5 -4 flat 3 dmg
    With the blade guard ancient and white scar ancient relic you can make it 25 attacks hitting on 2's strength 6 -4 flat 3

      They are shockingly good as Ultramarines also being able to charge, fall back shoot and charge again makes them an extremly scary counter punch unit, and a massive threat to most armies who want to engage an Ultras army asap. You can also put them in tactical for that extra -1 ap and ofc rerolls to miss and wound like most ultra units a unit of blade guard and victrix together make for a very scary melee threat to any army. I think they are prob best as Dark Angles Ultras or Fists back line counter punch/sweeper. Space Wolves Blood Angles and White Scars require them to be in a transport to keep up with the army.
      For Dark Angles tho I feel like Terminarors do the same job but are more compeditive.

They were WAY to squishy back then but with the new Apothecary stats/rules & 1 more wound I think I'll just deploy them as two squads of 5-man Company Veterans since they would gain the "Bodyguard" rule & can take 1 squad without using a elite slot if I have a Captain (Which would then allow me to take a upgraded Apothecary without filling a slot too).

    I'm a big Crimson Fists fan who wants to play my guys as that chapter, even if its not very good at the moment. I've been thinking about using the Pedro Kantor I just converted. He has two auras: your usual to hit re-rolls to all failed rolls at 6" (like any Chapter Master) and +1 Attack on models (not units) at 6".
    Would you say that he is a good match with the Bladeguards, or is he better assisting Assault Intercessors?

    I used them recently, they did good. What confuses me is that being first company, why are they always shown with gold trims? For Ultramaines they should surely be white or for blood and dark angels they shouldn't have coloured trims. Am I missing something, or does the painting team not care for heraldry and just go for aesthetics?

    • @WraithRaider
      @WraithRaider 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aidan Haughton Yes, precisely this, but why? Almost every single bladeguard vet I've seen since has gold trims and its annoying, when they have taken the time to provide a full painting guide in the heraldry. I painted mine gold originally as I copied the box art and painted white over when I later realised they are first company (Mine are Ultramarines)

    Ok but can you talk about the fact no one except Necrons and SPACE MARINES THEMSELVES will be a challenge to Space Marines. It's to the point now, playing anything else will be an actual detriment to your fun unless you're really pushing your list hard. A space marine can fart out any list they want and have it do ok where everyone else has to seriously consider every bit of their list to maybe make it to round 2

    • @Smilomaniac

      Dude, you're massively exaggerating. Either you don't play the game or you would lose against three year olds. No one's buying this shit and everyone's tired of the incessant negative whining, just stop it or do everyone a favor including yourself and find yourself a different hobby where you actually enjoy yourself. Enough, just take a break at least.

      @@Smilomaniac Many people are "buying this shit", that's why your tired of the incessant "whining". The game is totally unbalanced and shit, he is not whining. @@BarringtonDailey Many people are buying that you will die against casual lists before making it to turn 2?
      Good, I hope they all leave the hobby and never come back, because you'd have to be so monumentally incompetent that you wouldn't be worth having in the hobby in the first place. You'd be a literal waste of time playing against.
      The game is not 'totally inbalanced', don't take my word for it, by the word of people like Tabletop Tactics and tournament channels like Almost Pro Gaming the balance is very *stable* at the moment.
      It's not wall-to-wall marine releases, Necrons just got a huge helping of models with more to come, but you don't count that because you're focused on what you don't like and the fact that you're not being personally catered to.
      Get out of the hobby and do something that actually makes you happy to play. This is not the place for you and I'm not saying it only because a lot of us are sick of negative people like you, but because if you're miserable you're doing yourself a disservice and need to do better.
      If you're sick of losing by the way, change the way you play, don't blame everything else. 40k is not for everyone as much as they want to sell models, it's a competitive scene even in casual.

      @@Smilomaniac my guy, look at the comments. Plenty of people are gonna and already are playing bladeguard. They're tougher than chaos terminators. I would like if Auspex observed the current balance we find ourselves in between codices.

    • @Smilomaniac
      @Smilomaniac 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelharris8111 Auspex isn't about balance, watch Tabletop Tactics instead.
      The reason Bladeguard are tougher is only because of the Storm Shields, which CSM Termies can't bring. SM Assault Termies are tougher for the same reason, besides the codex W upgrade, which will come to CSM as well.
      Bladeguard are 2pts more expensive than Assault Terminators, for which you lose teleport/customization and gain attack/leadership and 1" movement.
      The weapon difference is S5 -3 2d vs. S8 -2 3d.
      Their advantage is the ability to be taken in Impulsors and the extra attack, and then you contend with the difference of stratagems, of which both have their ups and downs.
      There isn't a balance issue here, there's a whining issue.

Said unit with invulnerable save does a "squatting slav" impression on the objective - genius!
